  1. That's why he left. He was told he would have to play O.T.
  2. Odd title. Just got off of another thread that had the proponents of rating of players was useless. For the sake of program continuity, the title should have been "Recruit Perfect Fit Despite Rating!" What to think...
  3. I think you are confusing two different things. You're referencing a draft metric- the correlation between stars and nfl success instead of a recruiting metric showing the correlation between stars and ncaa success. As stated earlier, the evidence in ncaa football is beyond dispute that a team with more players with higher ratings give you a higher chance at success.
  4. I wish the punter would be back. I loved watching him. He was $ with placement. I'll never forget one punt he aimed for the coffin corner and nearly hit the pylon. That guy is precision. Definitely going to follow him in the N.F.L.
  5. In the UTSA game? The comment mentioned UTSA begging to differ. From what I saw in that specific game, no. Overall, I've always been a Fine advocate. Doing what he did last year as a true freshman shows he has "it". As I also stated, if this guy is running for his life half the game he wouldn't get the chance to develop and reach his potential.
  6. **WARNING I ROOT FOR BOTH TEAMS** From UTSA perspective, I agree, he is small and not elusive. He got nailed several times, I was impressed with his toughness. What he does have is speed. A lot of speed. If i remember correctly, he had two big runs and both were speed- one capitalizing on a busted play and another a great play call. This actually brings up a concern. This guy needs some protection to develop as a q.b. I hope line improves to help him.
  7. Why does texas state show up in threads? CUSA and AAC I understand, but...
  8. **WARNING I root for both teams ** Why so hard? You have the city, venue, recruiting area and hot offense scheme? LA Tech is the worst I've seen in location and venue but somehow get it done. Even San Marcos (God help them) even have a worse situation and yet... I think it's fair to challenge the notion as to why it's hard. I've been on here and read how hard it is but no one says why and it's accepted as fact. It's hard "here" implies location and facility. I see on here those are program strengths. Doesn't make sense to me.
  9. I heard his arraignment is this week. We will find out soon enough. Look at the top 10 teams recruiting classes. Alabama has more ESPN 300 kids on the roster than UNT has players. #recruitingmatters
  10. I think it's interesting the common denominator between UNT & UTSA fans is LA Tech. Probably because they win often.
  11. CRW I'm not sure I agree with the reasoning. The pool is diluted because other schools take kids and we get what's left. UT and OSU wouldn't say it's diluted. It's a matter of perspective based on your recruiting success. The answer isn't sucking somewhere else, but being good where you are.
  12. Agreed. I have no idea if that is actually a lot or how easily that can be resolved
  13. I think if it's Texas based (I'm biased because I root for both teams), it would be UNT/UTSA. Why? I expect UTSA to get better each year as Wilson recruits better talent. Rice has really struggled in recruiting the last several years and this year the same. Texas State will always be out recruited and out coached. UTEP doesn't have the recruiting base or coaching to build anything. They have been fortunate to have an NFL RB. Now that he is gone, their struggles will become even more evident on the field. SMU, I know their stock is going up, but, I need to see something from them first. Houston. Maybe later. I wouldn't read too much into the Josiah thing. As you said, RR fan is more reactionary to MG fan than passionate. Take my word, there is a near hate for Tech. They honestly play dirty and run up the score.
  14. This whole rivaly discussion interests me and want your thoughts. Wouldn't the fans dictate that? UNT fans have their perceptions of UTSA and if they don't see a rivalry is it really a rivalry? The UNT base sees UNT as an academically incompatible school with UTSA. As such, would the fan base just reject the notion? I see the same in S.A. At large Joe thinks Texas State is the rivalry due to pre-football stuff, but the football fans see L.A. Tech as the school they despise.
  15. I've read Army as the rivalry for UNT. What do you think? I've always felt service academies were a good fit for ooc scheduling.
  16. The compromise will be the NCAA facilitating collaborarion between G5 and P4 in exchange to keep the image of "student" athlete. I'm willing to bet there is A LOT the NCAA is willing to compromise to keep that.
  17. This is our first glimpse into the Littrell regime. I can't wait to see the mix of JUCO and h.s. kids that come in. It will tell us a lot about how he believes a team is built and where the program is.
  18. G5 playoff = death No playoff- still gives a chance to position the program to capitalize on any opportunity that may come in the future. No playoff doesn't guarantee moving up, but a playoff guarantees you don't. G5 playoff is ? and ?
  19. I think the opposite is true, G5 programs need the $ from those road games. Your proposal may destroy several schools teams.
