  1. Great job guys. I enjoyed watching the game. You got it going Mean Green. I posted on our board about my positive experience in that late August boiler of an opener. Fun trip. Classy school and program. Basics, basics, basics. Congratulations.
  2. Great idea. Possibly, Q5 (BCS) division, FBS, FCS? This $$$$$ leverage is sad. But, why not just boycott playing them?
  3. I agree. We have flare ups like this (but outside of the jc campus) in Boise where a large congregation of Idaho alum/current students @ Idaho and fans live. Some attend BSU for various classes. All are savvy enough to be classy. UNT prof was spot on.
  4. I have been checking Tulane's performance. I know UNT well enough and I see this as a real toss up. Ball security and moving the chains wins it for the MeanGreen. You guys will be in a bowl. UNT 21 Tulane 17
  5. That is one way to look at it. I have you covering the line. Bulldogs 34 MeanGreen 13
  6. Chalich and Epps had a productive game. At one time, we were up by 14. Untimely fumbles got UNI back into it. Their QB is tough. Our OL gassed out at near end of third when it was 35-35. I see MeanGreen at 8, maybe 9 wins. Top 25? Strong possibility. I am studying the Georgia site now. You know, with confidence you now have, this could be real interesting. I remember when BSU went in there years back and was given little chance. Won it. Albeit, I believe I did root for Georgia that day (that is a an Idaho-Bjc thing ).
  7. On last week's prediction thread, I said you can take it to the bank: "UNT 35 Ball 28". I caught a bit of kidding from billysee58, but I do see a good year for the MeanGreen. I went up to Moscow last week and after three quarters we had N. Illinois in a good battle. Lost in the last quarter, 45-35. So, a baby step forward for us did happen. Good luck at Georgia. This is why we play the game --- Akron about got Michigan. I see a very respectable showing. I will wait for your prediction thread and come back. Again, nice job. I want to see how rock star saw the game. Fun reading your forum.
  8. Are you suggesting the two fine establishments on Fourth Street? UNT 35 Ball 28
  9. Ball and -3. Good bet on us. Elko Gold Dust Sports --- will be there most of the day tomorrow. Final: 35-28. Faith MG.
  10. Send up the chili/frito mix to me. What was it called? Awww, I will head to the store and get the makings.
  11. Billy, I have my Vandals, the MeanGreen and the Chicago Bears. I think you guys have the Cardinals in a perfect situation. Get people to the game. 35-28 UNT. You can put that in the bank BillySee58. In the bank. I am going to Elko on business (Nevada). I will put a bet down. What are we getting?
  12. The Cardinals are coming off a great 2012 season. They have two home wins (an FCS. Illinois St, and a struggling FBS Army). They have swagger. They have it going. However, this is your typical game where UNT has the team to defeat Ball St. Smart football? I have seen it from the Eagles. Apogee advantage? Oh my, have I ever seen it. . .and felt the Devil's kitchen heat. I followed the Ohio game. Gwad, you had a strong surge in the second half. Get the students pumped up, alums. Bring someone who has never been to a college game, to that beautiful stadium, and give the Cardinals lots of UNT noise. I see you getting even with the MAC on this one. I was close on last week's prediction, having the MeanGreen 28 and the Bobcats 24. You have to have a good first half. The second half will always be yours, IMO. Halftime: 21-21 (you have your tit-for-tat first half) Final: 35 - 28. UNT wins it. (Second half is controlled by the MG.) I miss that chili spread over Fritos. And, of course, I miss the great time. What was that called? Go MeanGreen.
  13. Eagles 28 Cats 24. Grind it out at the end to keep the win ---- moved the chains.
  14. I am home. All of us had a blast and spent Thurs - Monday in the Dallas-Ft Worth and Denton area having this blast. What a great experience for us. We ate, drank, ate some more and drank some more. We had some Vandals in Irving who took us everywhere and knew how to navigate from here to there. The history, the tours, the sites, the people and the culture were awesome. On Saturday we spent a lot of pre game time in Denton. We loved UNT, its students, the hospitality, the beautiful stadium. I have posted much of this on the Vandal board too. The game was worth it. We have a long ways to go. You all told me that and you all were spot on. Apologies to rock star, houston and 58 (forgot his first part) for bantering and challenging sooooo much, but that is the heart and not the brains at this stage in my life, over 50 years of Vandal football. Your team: You have a very well coached team. I was at ground level for pre-game. I had to weasel my way there (and my group) because at 5:15 no one would have survived section 124. Your players are tough. Your coaches are great. You are under-rated. I believe you will attain 8 wins, or more and be in bowl. You will surprise the C-USA prognosticators who have you low in your division. I will definitely follow you guys. You are in great hands with HC Mac. Pay him well. Keep him long. The pre game pageantry and halftime show (with your old players. and of course, Mean Joe Green) was memorable. We all have pictures. The big screen and stadium are very, very nice and you all should know that most of us liked it better than any we have been in (and that is a ton of stadiums). Yes, laxtonto, it was HOT in Section 123-124. But by KO we all could leave shaded hide outs and go to our seats. By second quarter we were feeling we would make it. By half it was great. I would say that the early home games will roast the visitors, but that is the way it goes. You could move KO to 6:30 or 6:45 to assure a more tolerable area. At 5:15 we were ushered to our seats. We were the very first Vandals to attempt this. Honestly now, we lasted less than two minutes. We sought shade down by the flag pole, and your usher there was gracious enough to look the other way. Your student body has to be the nicest, tamest and smiling est bunch we have been around. You are now 6-4 in the series. I pray I see another UNT - Idaho game in the future. I know this is doubtful. The two universities are so similar in history, campus, traditions, buildings, and love of wit and intellect --- 1889 for us and 1890 for UNT. We just had one great time, despite the weather. I told my friends back home that the Devil asked God, when he spotted Him in the kitchen, "What ya all cooking?" God, answered, "Texas." Again, Harry --- meangreener, rock, 58, tonto, houston and so many others --- We thank you. Good luck in the season. Beat those Ohio "Bobcats" --- 8-4 is what I am going with. I will watch on ESPN3 as our game in Laramie should be over by then. And, do not allow Mac to be grabbed away.
  15. I like the avatar. My niece in Irving said something about an area to go where there's dino prints, etc. She said it may be one of our day trips, if the group wants to go there. She has an agenda laid out and it really is too much to pick from. Friday, the JFK, Sat. up to Denton, Sunday? Fly out Monday. But her choices are long and fascinating. Enjoy the forum. Always the optimist like we all are.
  16. Thanks. It all makes sense now. Well, we do get $400K to do this gig. Can we cash it there in Denton? Man, that trip back to rustic lil' old Idaho will be a huge bummer. Hope we have enough bodies for Wyoming.
  17. So, how many ambulances did you order for us? But, I am looking forward to mixing with you guys. It is a great university (UNT --- and I posted about this on our board), with tradition, smart and witty alum/fans and Coach Mac's statement about academics went over big with us. That statement is posted. We like to use our history of academics against that junior college in Boise. But Gwad, can they ever play football. Your banter is classy too.
  18. Gwad dang. I just hope we break mid-field in the first half. Ya know, in 2009 we were in a bowl and won it, so it is not like you are welcoming in a program that has never won a game. "79-10, but you never know." Now that is smack, like your rock star is doing over on our board. But we enjoy it. Punt and save the equipment is what I will suggest to Petrino in his radio "call in" show tonight.
  19. Unconditional loyalty in a fan is great. Good post. Too many now days are band wagon and fickle. But, your last sentence. . .that "next step forward" could be on a landmine. The game should be a good one for us to see how much Petrino has changed the team. Lots of new faces.
  20. You left an opening there . . . "a bit". . . so, maybe a total in the 70's?
  21. Oh NO, I am busted by the playground supervisor. You have over 4K posts and just discovered that there is "this" that goes on? I will buy you beer. You sound like the cry babies at the local jc, AKA Bozo State. Chit man, we are dogs by 30 to 50 according to some of you. We need as much motivation as we can get to get across the mid-field stripe. You actually made my day with this.
  22. Forecast humidity for Denton on Saturday is 33%. Currently the humidity on the HOT Palouse hills, with that beautiful golden wheat, is 37%.
  23. Thanks for the safe flight and my group is looking forward to it. I did do a prediction on your "Prediction" thread, but if you go there you see how I went about doing it. It was a "spud bake" thing, with some comical stuff. I honestly feel the team will put up a good challenge in the opener vs UNT. I fear the secondary may give up the big one or allow the third and short pass to keep UNT in possession and running, eating clock and wearing down the D. I do like the offense of Idaho that I saw when I traveled out of Boise and went up to Moscow to watch the spring games, and then this fall (August). But it is Idaho vs Idaho in spring and fall. Petrino has changed the culture, the attitude, the discipline. He has brought in players and reshaped ones that were of the old regime, but wanted to "buy into" his hard-nosed drive of how football preparedness must be. We should be able to move the chains and see pay dirt. I like our chances for an upset if we get some turn overs. We have to play smart, not turn it over and do some take aways, if we want a W. The 14 to 17 point spread is about right, I feel. Total points? I see a high scoring affair and mentioned it could break 80. I can say this. I am around a lot of 18 to 22 year olds and I do know how they think. The best thing going for Idaho is its ugly last two years and the thinking, it is the same team. Your players have heard this and this is to our advantage. Your coaches instill in them not to get over-confident or get back on your heels, but you and I know that is hard. Your players may keep this interesting by coming in and thinking these guys are the pits. Petrino has a rough and tough group, well-conditioned, disciplined and this could be the largest land mine planted in Apogee Stadium for a very long time. See you soon. Here's to an injury free game and the teams bettering their skills for game #2.
