  1. 6'3" 200 lb receiver from Southlake Carroll. Holds offers from us and Louisiana Tech, per EJ Holland. Can't find any highlights, or much info, currently.

At a school like Southlake it wouldn't surprise me if this is going to be his first season on varsity. Also, take the height and weight listing with a grain of salt. Usually younger kids' listed measurables are what they expect they will be when they're graduating, rather than what they actually are. But I'm sure he is a good-sized receiver. Also runs track and plays baseball.

  2. Hopefully it's another Tee Goree situation

I'm not expecting that. Not saying you are either, but Goree had over 1200 yards and 17 tds as a junior. Then scored 28 as a senior. Bendy is coming off a junior season in which he had 368 yards and 4 receiving TDs. Realistically I'm hoping for Bendy to be closer to O'Keeron Rutherford.

Goree was a massive steal. Rutherford was a big steal too. And his growth from junior to senior year is hopefully similar to what Bendy's will be this year.

  3. If we only land 1 commit after our big recruiting weekend , it will be a major disappointment

I agree. But I think we land a few of these kids who were visiting before the season starts. Jarvis Baxter is committing August 1st, and coming up here a week before his commitment date seems to be a good sign. The FloMo o-linemen (Barr and Curl), and D'erren Wilson. Plus maybe some others.
  4. it could have something to do with them having other guys at his position that they are expecting to also commit soon and they want to make sure the space is there... I am hoping it's sampson saluone, the kid from utah but that is mostly just wishful thinking.

See, that's the other thing. Saluone shouldn't have anything to do with Mcwhorter. Saluone is right at the top of my wish list, along with OTs Larry Hughes, Bryce Wilds, and Evan Curl.

But Saluone is a nose/1-tech DT. Mcwhorter is a 3-tech DT, or strong side DE. I think we should lock up Mcwhorter and turn our focuses to get a stud nose/1-tech. One of the position we've had the hardest time recruiting (our starting nose and backup are both converted DEs).

Here's what I think would be our best d-line class since Mac's been here:

Strongside DE - Cheatum Nose - Saluone

    3-tech - Mcwhorter Weakside DE - Miller

  5. Not a done deal until we see if the coaches accept that commitment. Hoping we find out soon sooner rather than later. He's good enough to take now IMO.

The good thing about those 3, and the reason I hope we aren't slow playing Mcwhorter, is that they can all play on the line together. Miller at DE, and one of Mcwhorter and Cheatum will end up at 3-tech DT, and the other will end up at strong-side DE. I see Mcwhorter at 3-tech and Cheatum at DE. That's a strong d-line. Throw in a big guy who can play nose and you got a HAUL at d-line.

  6. Seems more likely he will be behind Eric Evans. That dude is good.

Evans isn't very big, though. Wilson has the frame, plus he's coming from a small school where they couldn't have had a very advanced weight program. So Wilson's has good growth potential.

Wilson would be asked to carry the shoulder of the load, especially in between the tackles, while Evans and Ivery are used a little more sparingly but are able to be more home-run back types. Fewer carries and yards for them than Wilson, but higher yards per carry.

  7. He can definitely catch the ball. There was little run blocking as the rbs had to get past 2 or 3 definsive players just to get back to the line of scrimmage. He had a big loss on his last carry as he had no chance. He looked really good on his other 3 carries. On one he slipped a tackle 5 yards deep and stiff armed a 2nd guy about 3 yards deep and got to the outside for a 9 yard gain. He could be really good,

Yup. He's a solid looking prospect. Very swift athlete, with good size. I see him leading the team in carries in 2016 after Jimmerson leaves. Hopefully this kid stays on track and keeps improving.
