I IMO, I think you are correct. I think the wheel was turning the moment, JJ accepted the LSU job. It's unfortunate, but when you look at the landscape of college basketball, today, it seems to be the flavor of the day. Actually, i think the wheel was turning before the offer at LSU. Again, IMO.

These comments were from Vito's mailbag this morning: Tony Benford mentioned when he released John Odoh that he was not allowed to talk to him to try to convince him to follow through with his commitment to UNT. Again, that decision was Odoh's. He didn't want to talk to Benford. Sounds like the kid or i should say, young man, never gave Coach Benford a chance.

What a circus, over at SMU, they just fired their Athletic Director. Happy, we landed Coach Benford.

I would love to see this matchup. From what I remember, watching the tournament, the point guard from Murray State ( Isaiah Cannon) is basically an all-american. So, Chris get ready. Mitchell & Co vs Cannon & Co. One good note, Marquette beat Murray State in that 2nd round game, so i am sure Benford scouted Murray State.

The season started, the second, after we lost, in the Sunbelt Championship game .

Mens BBall Tony Benford If you had any doubts from the press conference on him as a public speaker, NOT SO FAST MY FRIEND! He got everyone up in a circle and gave the most powerful speech of the night. Opening up with a story that will SHOCK you all and prove how much of an influence he has on the players. He had 2 weeks to work out the players and get to know them. One of the first practices, two showed up late. Benford told one of the guys, i know you're 5 mins late but you cant practice today. When you need to be somewhere, especially practice, i EXPECT YOU TO BE THERE, or else you are letting the rest of the team down. That player apologized and asked what can I do coach? Benford allowed that player to stay but he had to give 100 touches. motivating his teammates under the basket. After he did 100 touches, he asked coach, what can i workout now? Benford walked this player across the street to Fouts and asked him to run 5 miles. This will be you're workout. This player was Tony Mitchell. He sat down with Tony and his mother and showed him what his strengths and weaknesses are. "When you get drafted next year and Doc Rivers gives me a call, its not going to be about any tardiness, dribbling off the ball. Apparently Benford is close friends with Doc Rivers He believes he will get Tony to the next level and we will not recognize this team next year. He went down the roster next year and confirmed UDOH and Forrest are gone Udoh has academic issues and will not be joining the team. Forrest LEFT the team after not panning out after the workouts. ALL the players will be eligible this Fall!!!!! This brought a huge applause from the crowd, SO YES!!!! Chris Jones, Justin Patton and Jordan Williams are GOOD TO GO! No word yet on scheduling, still in the works but he is not afraid to bring in any team to the super pit. SMU most likely wont want to play us. lol Feel free to ask me any questions, there is more i will add later once I can remember but this was GREAT event. If you get a chance, go to the last show in Fort Worth. The coaches genuinely appreciate all the support we give them. GO MEAN GREEN!

Did Evans recruit Abron to Arkansas? Huge advantage for the meangreen. Not sure how you make room for him, (referring to scholarship) if he a gets waiver. The transfer carousel keeps moving.

I watched Marquette a couple of times on tv, the game i watched, they scored alot of points, off pressure defense, in other words their guards and wings, forced alot of turnovers on defense, which led to quick fastbreak transition points. The offense was a motion, spread type offense, this is not a slow, ugly, offense. imo. We have the athletes to play this style of ball, when needed.

Agree, I will be happy if he can block shots, defend and rebound. I think Benford runs a spread motion type offense, he will get plenty of opportunites to score off dribble penentration from the guards and wings.

I thought this situation with Odoh, was strange, after Benford signed. Of course, we had know way, of knowing, what was going on behind closed doors. Now the truth is coming out! To me it just proves, that in college recruiting, you can't rest on your laurels. These kids or i should say young men, situations can change. We all know, once the ball goes up, the teams we play, are not in the business of showing compassion, as well as they shouldn't be. Recruit, recruit, recruit. IMO.

I wouldn't put too much stock in want one video clip. Remember the guy visited and played with Mitchell and co. The eye test is much more important. I think it's a good sign, this late in the game. Also, apparently, Mitchell really thinks he can play, at least that was alleged.
