  1. Never lose faith. We can win this. I would like to see how the team responds. They didn't look down until the very end of the game. Hopefully they put it in the rear view mirror.
  2. Maybe the GMG game can be broken up between the two groups on here. I will take Kram, mean-Green 09, the other Andrew anyone else.. My boy gene if he chooses to play or we can muster up the old squad but most have moved out of Texas...
  3. If we could just win games we would be right there. The conference is open to everyone but us...
  4. They should just not be out there for major minutes. boss, Vaughn's! Mo, and a Taylor are all guys Benford recruited. Your posts makes zero sense. That leaves CJ as the only one he did not. You saying Gaines or Colman should be out there instead of CJ. Doing what running the point? I do not think they are terrible bigs, but they do not run the floor which is what we need to do. Armani can but he has his ups and his downs. I would not say he is a poor judge of talent by Amy means. I would say he cannot make up his mind on a lineup. That is an issue I thought would have been fixed by now.
  5. Agreed. Maduro. I would replace. Vaughn's with J-Will because we would be giving up a ton of height but Vaughn's is our quickest player. He can keep his guy in front of him and when he has the ball he can beat his man to the hoop. Gaines, Colman, Walton, and Flannigan should play very few minutes. I liked said lineup with Alzee as the 6th man. I said this a few games ago. I did think they had it figured it out when I talked to someone who said coach has his fav 5.
  6. Few people would say he was the best option. However he did have JJ's backing to my knowledge. I liked Fran, but I didn't mind all of the connections Benford had. At the end of the day you support what you have until a change is made at the end of the season. I refuse to believe that someone who can be a head coach at the college level is a "bad" coach. Maybe not in the right place or have the right circumstance, but never a truly horrible coach. Very few would be considered that. Coaches are hired and make their way up the ranks from assistants for a reason.
  7. This all will not matter. I we continue to lose I would assume we will have a new coach next season. We can go form there and continue to support him and the team.
  8. So your under the impression that you cN drag a horse to water and make it drink. See I always heard the opposite. Sometimes things just do not mesh well. Maybe he needs to go. Let that be decided at the end of the year. I'm fine either way. I will always support UNT basketball and the next coach. I assume you know he has not imparted this knowledge because you have someone in the locker room?
  9. It is pretty in obvious no one in here has played at the college level in any sport. I am not saying I have, but maybe if you had or ran with a group who had you might pick up in a few things.
  10. What has he done any different then any other coach? I have seen awful coaching. This is not awful coaching. I understand the coach will always take the blame. No he is not fantastic, but where has he been just terrible all game? He prepares them just like any other coach. Players who have transferred have said the practices are no different then at Cincinnati or Oklahoma. Obviously in practice he is not awful. They scout just like any other coaching group. Tell me in game an ex pal elf poor coaching? That has been consistently poor. What have you seen? I am not talki NT90 saying he turns to the bench and waves his arms. ODU coach did the same thing this game, as has Middle Tennessee and Tulane coach. No difference there. Again I just want an example of here he failed is besides putting up a W. He cannot make the free throws. He called out every baseline screen and knew where their guys were going to be tonight, if you were at the game you would have seen and heard it. Sometimes our guys were caught up in double or they just didn't get to their man in time. It just didn't work out.
  11. That is not how it works. They are a team. And that is definitely not how it comes off. It's all personal attacks.
  12. I have no clue what will happen. We have the potential... Will we? At this point who knows. We couldn't hit a shot and even when we did play solid D the other team jacked a three and it went in. Maybe we are to deep? I have no clue. It's hard to find five guys who can run as a unit on the floor. And when you do on monetizes you find your best player or two in the bench. There were some pretty bad calls tonight but things did not go our way. I just do not get the shooting. I haven't shot a ball in years but I do not understand how more shots do not fall for us. Create that distance with a move or something and out it up and make it. But anyway I have no idea what the future holds. It's not working. It's not all coaching and it's not all the players. It's just not working though.
  13. I will turn over the ball... I operate off the ball and am out of shape (comparatively to the past). I just shoot and hustle. I'm not planning on telling people rally what to do. Just move off the ball.
  14. I was also not intending to be rude (although apparently my intelligence is up for debate). I was trying to state the obvious. It may be debatable but there are lots of opinions in how to run a zine and how to attack as a person mentioned in another post. Here's five more principles to attack zone defense from coach K (I do not see shooting the three in the list) - use the ball intelligently (penetrate the gaps) - use ball reversal and pass fakes - flash to the middle - bigs must stay behind the zone - screen the zone Obviously you can break it down and get open shots but if a zine is well taught and you have quick guards to cover gaps you can shut down the three. Not the best option but it's possible.
  15. Why would I not be real? You gave me a tootsie roll at the rice game in Halloween....
  16. We might not win it until the last 5 minutes... We generally do not play hard until the end. Hopefully this is changing. Excited for tonight's game though!
  17. Essentially what I have been saying anytime someone post about me being an "idiot" for ever thinking that way... I never claimed it was the best option. Just seems people do not know they have options in basketball. Which by the way is one big job of a coach, teaching options. You can run a flex or shuffle or whatever you want. It does not always look the same because you have options dependent on where the ball is and what the defense is showing. This is not football. It's basketball. It's a game of chess.
  18. I would use a 3-2 over a 2-3 to do that although both can also do that if you set it up that way. You are very narrow minded to think that zones cannot be shifted to achieve a goal. It's all about how you run it. Stop working in absolutes.
  19. Please share more... I like how you shared actual evidence... Ignore my comment which coaches and players would agree with. I bet your fantastic at basketball... So smart... Maybe next time try reading it because obviously you have no clue about what I am talking about or the various ways you can utilize a two three. I already said man is the best option but I explained word for word from two former players and a coach how you can use the 2-3 zone to stop the three. It's not the best option but it's very possible. It will wear down inn your guards though. Have to be deep and quick. We are only one of those. Again... I never claimed it was the best option and I have zero clue where that is coming from. Man is always the best defensive option if you can help it. However you can italics almost any defense to shut down the three or close down the inside game. It's all about spacing and player placement.
  20. It was not I who originally claimed that the 2-3 zone can defend the 3. It is true that you can use the 2-3 zone to defend against the three better then many defenses. If your just an average team you would want to go man. That is the best defense to shut down the three. However if you have quick guards and an athletic team you can use the 2-3 to shut down the three. It's all about trapping. I am however starting to doubt that you know what a 2-3 looks like. It is not 2 players up top and 3 sitting in the post. At least not the one we have run. You run quick quick guards along the top and play two wings players closer to the corners. You trap there and force the ball back around the arc where your quick guards can trap again in the opposite corner. The way to beat it is attack from an angle or when trapped in the corner feed it in the post. That would lead to a a one on one in the post which can also be beat by another player cutting opposite side. It's all about how you run it. Do you not understand that? I'm guessing you have never coached or set foot on a basketball floor at any level. It's a game a chess which is why I enjoy watching it much more than football. It's all about player placement and putting in a system that works with your guys (I believe Benford has tried this but yes it obvious it has not worked... Change at the end of the season if it's needed). Again it is all about the players you have and how you chose to run it. We have gone up against teams who run a 2-3 that is a true 2-3 and we have run into teams that run a 2-3 that is more like a 4-1. It's about spacing. This post is not in anyway defending Benford by the way... Just attempting to explain a point about defense. Benfords 2-3 was looking good however we do not have a solid 5 to protect the paint and we do not have guards quick enough to cover the gaps. I would stick with an even though I really enjoyed watching our defense when the 2-3 was successful. He can still change it up and run a 2-3 just not the way it was being run.
  21. I find it hard to believe many people out there know anything about our program. I will stick to that. Same goes for football. You said a lot of alums. I am talking about just your a average person. Still I would bet even many average alums don't have a clue what is going on.
  22. How does that affect getting people to games? So was the goal to fill the stands so we look good on television or was the point to fill the stadium and have a consistent fan base? I want a consistent fan base. No reason basketball should not have one. Win or lose. We pushed football when they were losing. So I'm to believe it was just because of the new stadium or a game on television? How about we push attendance at every event regardless of records or coaches. Players get four years at UNT. The least alumni could do is go out and show them support in the little time they are here.
  23. What does that mean? I asked an honest question. You threw a ton of support behind a 1-2 team who was 4-8 the previous year and to be honest no one had any clue how they would do the rest of the season. No different then the basketball team. Only yea the football team went on to win a bowl and right now the basketball team is going in the opposite direction. Of course all of the campaign was done before any football success. It could be done before any basketball sucks as well.
  24. Props on the the campaign however.... I do not see much of a difference. You either support a team or you do not. I understand if you are not a basketball fan but it's really no difference. The football team was 1-2 then I believe. The basketball team has been above .500. Where were you? All I am saying is show up and cheer. Let the coaching issue be resolved at the end of the season. I see no reason to bail. If we are the underdog so be it. Everyone loves a underdog.
