Well spoken and comes across as thoughtful and calculated in his decision making. Should be a real value on and off the field.

I welcome all coverage at any point during the year but an assessment of the event's field will need to be revisited in the fall. Rosters are still in flux across the country.
Not bagging on the author. Gotta create content and he even noted the premature nature of this stuff in his linked "Way Too Early Top 25" piece.

Some nice quotes from Arians...
QuoteConsidering they traded up in the fourth round of the 2021 NFL draft to make sure they landed him, the Tampa Bay Buccaneers obviously think they have something special in rookie wide receiver and return specialist Jaelon Darden.
In fact, Bucs head coach Bruce Arians sees plenty of potential in Darden, going to far as to compare him to two of the best receivers he coached while he was the offensive coordinator for the Pittsburgh Steelers.
“I go back to Pittsburgh, we picked Santonio Holmes first, we picked Emmanuel Sanders, we picked Mike Wallace in the third, we got Antonio Brown in the fifth or sixth,” Arians said on a recent episode of the Pewter Report Podcast. “Guys who have great quickness getting in and out of cuts. No wasted movement, great hands, 40 times don’t have to be 4.3, but they play really fast.”
“When you look at Jaelon on tape, he plays really fast,” Arians continued. “And he catches the ball so easily away from his body so he can play fast. He’s not thinking about catching the ball. Those type of guys – Jaelon really reminds me a lot of Emmanuel [Sanders] when Emmanuel was a rookie. He’s got some AB in him too.”

Arians entering Day 3...
Quote“We’re always looking for guys that can run,” Arians said. “Speed in any kind of category…defensive backs who can be gunners. We need to improve our special teams. For those guys tomorrow, we’ll be looking at guys who can fill roles, but also be really core special teams players that can help us in those areas.”

Based on punt return stats last year, looks like there may be an opportunity for Darden...
- Jaydon Mickens - 16 returns, final year of contract with $0 guaranteed
- Kenjon Barner - 13 returns, currently a free agent
Proud of Jaelon. Well deserved.

Looks like this would be a good get. Would enjoy the "Jones Brothers" joined by McBride in a three man backcourt with the two Joneses being listed at 6'5" who can both handle the ball and serve as a lead initiator. Here's a Curtis Jones highlight package (headband, long hair)...

The NBA Top Shot craze has me thinking, if a similar marketplace existed for "Mean Green Moments", what would be your most coveted item?
Many to choose from but the clear and obvious choice took place 9.6/2003 during my first semester in Denton and my first game at Fouts...

At least one source is assuming all players will have to formally declare for the draft...
QuoteHow are things different in 2021?
The NCAA has granted each player another year of eligibility, adding complication to the process. Under normal rules, a player has five calendar years in which they can play up to four years of any sport. However, this new rule now means a player can play a fifth year, and their eligibility is spread across six calendar years and not five.
Therefore, heading into the 2021 NFL Draft, all players will have college eligibility remaining, essentially making them underclassmen, and will need to declare by the deadline. Additionally, NFL combine invites for senior prospects that have not yet declared will likely be delayed.

I agree that it often looks too busy on broadcasts, but our identity guide places a strong emphasis on the The UNT lettermark

Coach recently appeared on the Sports Spectrum podcast to discuss his faith and leadership of both his family and the program. Whether your beliefs align with his or not, I think MG fans will enjoy McCasland talking about parts of his life that we don't get at a coach's show...

Would've loved for Burke to have found his home in Denton and enjoyed the college experience there as much as I did. Wishing him the best at his next stop.
Anyone know the NT student athlete exit interview process? I hope anyone leaving the program via transfer, graduation, or otherwise is interviewed to keep Wren and his staff aware of the player perspective within the programs.

Easily the most in-depth look at our conference this side of Brune...
https://www.three-man-weave.com/3mw/conference-usa-2021-preview
QuoteOutlook: If you aren’t familiar with Grant McCasland, here’s a small taste of why we at the Weave consider him to be one of the top coaches in the land:
View fullsizeRankings per KenPom
McCasland took over the reins at UNT in 2017 and since then has notched three straight 20-win seasons, the first time that feat has been accomplished in Denton since 2011. The 43-year old coach has injected a Crank-like substance into the Mean Green program, solidifying his squad as an annual conference title contender. It’s almost a certainty McCasland ends up at a Power 6 school in the near future, so enjoy him while you can, UNT fans...

This is an impressive pick up for FAU and for CUSA at large. As our current broadcast agreement proves, the conference really needs an infusion of attention grabbing talent.
FAU isn't playing around and the rest of the conference needs to follow their trajectory, not hope for their failure.
