  1. Exactly, but he won't come if you tell him he's playing the 4. The reason he left SMU is b/c he wanted to be a wing and just doesn't have the skill to do so.
  2. Look, I love Jalen and Big E, but calling Jalen a 6'7 guard is hysterical. The reality is that he wanted huge minutes at the 3 for SMU, & Brown didn't think he had the skill to transition down from an undersized 4. Jalen is a tremendous energy player, can really board, is quick off the floor and a super competitive kid. That said, he hates every coach he's ever played for, and just doesn't have a guard or small forward skillset. He can't face, is an average shooter, and can't defend the perimeter. By all means, you guys should grab him, cause hes good and would have played alot this year at SMU, just not as much as he wanted, and not in the position he wanted
  3. Not sure this year has much to do w/resume. Brown is just finding the kids that are gonna stay. 4 man '13 class, at least, and 3 transfers on the bench. They look good moving forward, this years start is icing, sorta unexpected
  4. Keith Frazier may not be far behind, Detrick Mostella too.
  5. you don't think Temple was a quality addition to Big East hoops?
  6. He's going to Wichita St. Tried to verbal to Creighton a few weeks back, but he was 3rd in their pecking order for CU's last ship. CU really wants Foster, followed by John Dawson, so just weren't going to take a Thomas verbal at that time. WSU is what's on the table. FWIW, Foster is enamored w/the Big 12, even though stylistically he'd be far better off at Creighton
  7. Great verbal, fellas. I really like Nunn, good hands & touch. Below the rim, but that doesn't matter w/beef. Just going off Benford's more recent players, I'd compare Nunn to Devante Gardner. Skilled but some were scared by grades/conditioning. Turned out great for Marquette. Congrats
  8. Good kid, Was a package w/Gray to MSU. When Gray opted out, they dropped Hardwick. He's not on the same planet as Jones, and isn't better than Trey either, IMO. He's a super nice kid, gets good grades and a nice late Spring signing. Congrats
  9. Smith can really play. He was helpful this year after coming off ACL surgery. No one really understands that cut. Vilde was a shell of the player at SMU, as he was in the NE Prep league. Win some, lose some. Glick, you nervous I know your new coach better than anyone here? I'm the biggest UNT insider now lol.
  10. You guys are quite talented. Like quite a few players on your squad, so hoping you guys get the results you want. How is your recruiting class coming along?
  11. LOL, this thread has turned into greatness. Mangrum is a great kid that gave his all to UNT and felt let down by the experience. It happens. You guys really need to quit the SMU love fest and worry about your '12 class. So far, you guys are the best offer of both your verbals, by far. Maybe you're just recruiting role players, not sure, but I'd be concerned.
  12. I'm not sure you can be any bigger fan of SMU or the program than Mangrum is. Very gracious kid who we really appreciated having. No doubt though, he's definitely turned his back on UNT and isn't really shy about it
  13. Really nice pick-up. Nice get
  14. They're in trouble. SMU just beat them head to head for a recruit from NYC, and they've written off '12 in terms of serious recruiting. Their egg is placed in the '13 basket
  15. SMU's schedule is very competitive this year, but no UNT lol. Keep up the good fight
  16. Lol, its glick, master of the drive-by. Big boy would be any team in a superior conference, w/better facilities, more money, more prestige etc. You know, schools/programs, that for whatever reason, have more clout and get to determine the nature of the relationship. You have to make backyard brawls appealing to those schools, not just say we're pretty good at hoops, let's play. I told you how to leverage SMU into a potential game etc. I've seen it done that way, time & again, even provided an example. It doesn't matter in the slightest, if you draw 3k or SMU draws 1k, doesn't even enter the equation. That doesn't mean anything in the scope of getting a game like this done. Like SMU is giddy over the possibility of a 5k turnout at Moody, as an enticement for the game,. Get real and bring something to the table. Would you take a 2 for 1? lol
  17. First off, it was a one year scheduling thing, next year should be better, and the year before was decent(A&M, South Florida, UNLV, College of Charleston, Northeastern etc. SMU needs 2 or 3 high majors on the schedule, 3 or so better mid majors, and D1 low major gimmes. Hate on the program all you want, but from a roster & system stand point, they've turned the corner. Next year, one ofthe mids on the schedule is New Mexico and rumors of Creighton swirl, so the schedule will bump up. You want a Metroplex Tourney, make it for charity, and then whomever doesn't want in, looks bad. That's what happened at the BB&T in DC. Georgetown and Maryland hate each other, but Maryland can't say no to local charity and plays this awful backyard brawl of a tourney every year. Gtown won't play, so john Feinstein just kills them in the press. Create enough crap press, maybe a big boy starts to care about UNTs wants and needs, until then, no.
  18. Rhoomes is a spring signee, far from a polished kid, and isn't even really a true Big East prospect. Bsed on the class at TCU, it's same day, same result. Everytime they sign someone, I chuckle a little. Its bad in Cowtown
  19. you'd lose 1 of 3 or 4 posters w/any actual knowledge, though.
  20. It's what it is. I like Franklin, always have, but SMU doesn't even have a ship. I don't have an axe to grind, cause I have no idea how this all plays out, nor do I believe SMU cares. What I do know is that SMU, w/o a ship, still managed to put their foot in it, at least to a degree. Franklin is a good player, hope you get him.
  21. FWIW, and I know you guys love these types of posts, but strong rumor suggests Franklin approached SMU through Big Daddy Williams. Basically, SMU is out of ships, but one kid is considering transfer, so that would free one up. Anyway, staff told the Williams posse no thanks, not good enough. Wasn't received real well from what I was told. Just good rumor, but we'll see if it actually plays out beyond that.
  22. Good player, probably a good choice. Great fans, lenient academics, hoops school etc. No idea if he'll actually qualify, but albequerque is just awful
