  1. That is more than FIU gets (butts in seats) for real home games. Seriously.
  2. I think FIU only plays 4 men's sports. Winning the Bubas Cup is something to be proud of, in my opinion. I do see a disadvantage on track though, something that we have been very strong in throughout the years. Our HC has been here since the early 60's.
  3. Sounds almost exactly how we got hosed vs. Virginia. We had a 1st down to run out the clock (1:20 left-- UVa 1 timeout), and the refs put the ball a full yard behind where it should have been marked. See for yourselves here http://www.goblueraiders.com/ondemand/play.../id/28047#28047 . Our coach should have thrown the flag, but did not, so in that regard it's our own fault. Then he punted instead of going for 4th and short, and UVa kicks a last second FG to win the game.
  4. I have heard from our head coach that ya'll are getting baseball. My question is when? Also, when MT won the Bubas Cup last year, for almost every school you could have given the maxium number of points (for sports not particpated in) and MT still would have won it. With WKU adding football, along with it's Swimming & Diving (which MT does NOT have), WKU will be in the mix for years to come. We are having a down year this year, but hopefully our track and softball will give us some points to gain on Western. Texas is a strong baseball state... you guys would become competitive very quickly.
  5. Blue Raiders shock the world, baby! With an assist from North Texas. Ya'll owe us one for knocking off USA last year
  6. Just thought of another question..... Wonder if the SBC could lure a MAC team to our conference (preferrably an Ohio team) ?
  7. We ain't going to the MAC. We had been approached (not approved) and we said "no thanks." Our footprint is in the South-- recruiting-wise, culture-wise, and perception-wise. We do have a lot of northerner moving to the area (you'll see 'em at the Nashville Predators hockey games), but we will make hay in the South, or go home. I have never, ever heard any serious discussion of joining the MAC, from fans, MT Athletic employees, or through the grapevine. You may have one or two yay-hoos that would like it, but they are probably from up north. I'd say 9 out of 10 MT fans would prefer SBC to the MAC. Where would you rather go to an away game-- Lafayette, LA, or Kalamazoo, Michigan ? Not real worried about Troy, either. It is no secret that they want the bigger markets. Is Montgomery, AL, a big market? FAU is another story.
  8. We are taking baby steps, but the steps seem to become a bit larger each year. MT will get better, UNT will get much better, with all the talent in Louisiana I expect the Cajuns to improve. FAU will be better next year, Troy will be good. FIU has nowhere to go but up. ULM seems to be playing great ball. Watch out Coosa, we're gonna catch you real, real soon, if we haven't already. Frankly, I'm excited about the direction the SBC is going, and glad that MT finally has a kicker who can kick an 11-yard field goal (We used one of our scholies on a PK this year) Best of luck to the Mean Green. Down with Troy !!
  9. GMAC can be our 3rd bowl (in time sequence, anyways) once their contract ends in 2008. Perfect timing, with WKU coming into the leage in 09.
  10. I cannot remember which one my wife and I ate at several years ago. Is there one called "Cattleman's" ? I don't remember it being real expensive. I was kind of on the corner of the main drag in Old Cowtown.
  11. Good stuff and great read, as usual.
  12. I sure as hell wouldn't mind another huge steak from Cowtown and the Stockyards.
  13. It means "good" news, I'm pretty sure. We shall find out soon enough I hope. Where would most UNT fans want a second bowl tie-in? Somewhere in Texas?
  14. You hit the nail on the head. We shall see. Stay tuned !
  15. Not to add fuel to the fire, but quite a few WKU fans wore F**K MTSU shirts a couple of years ago to our gym, on a night when we were honoring a dying professor and longtime hoops fan (whose seat in the arena was "retired" a couple of weeks ago). They wore jackets over the shirts when they came in........but wore the shirts proudly throughout Murphy Center. Tasteless, esp. when their message board fans were defending those who wore the shirts. That said.................I have found the Western Scout board to be much, much more rational than Hillbillly Haven.

  17. Great win over Okie State last evening. Things are shaping up for a great SBC men's hoops season. We start tonight vs. San Jose` State at home in a tournament. I'm glad we just play the "Greenies" once this season. Now if you could just get that women's team going strong.
  18. Plus, South Alabama has a new coach and new system, so I'd be surprised to see them be as strong as the last couple of years. I do know that Arrow is a good coach, however, but USA lost a lot of firepower. Is that big dude of theirs in jail ?
  19. C-USA is looking for media markets. Have ya'll ever been to Troy, Alabama? It is the worst city in the Belt. What do they bring other than football?
  20. I'm not so sure about MT being in front of UNT either, but this will "on paper" be our best hoops team in about 15 years. We shall see.
  21. Is this the other guy? Both Bud and Bob have seen something like 130 consecutive MT football games (home and away). Bud is considered MT's #1 fan. Thanks for the kind words.
  22. Wish I could have made it to Denton, but did not. One of these days my punk arse is coming. From the folks I've talked to that were in Denton, they had a wonderful time and met many a great UNT fan. Talked to some that went to Billy Bob's in Ft. Worth and old Cowtown. You folks are having a tough season, but it'll get better with all of the recruits you'll bring in the next few years. and........you have one helluva fine men's hoops team to look forward to. Best of luck the rest of the year, both on the gridiron and on the hardcourts
