  1. http://www.cbssports...-about-big-east

"An industry source told CBSSports.com that Mountain West representatives met with Boise State officials earlier this week to persuade the Broncos to remain in the MWC."

Seems more from the MWC folks than BSU, though, but BSU officials could have told the MWC officials to stay home--not interested. BSU is in an obvious pickle with their minor varisty sports and finding a place for them to land.

I think the NCAA of today has become the collegiate version of a Chinese fire drill. It's sad.

    GMG!

I will give you a high five because this is the first post of yours that I have been able to read in one sitting. Well done!

  2. Now that we have a new stadium and conference it's time to update our wish lists. Here's mine

    2. Upgrades to the Super Pit

    3. Indoor practice facility for Football

    4. Upgrades to soccer and softball facilities

  3. I am just going to guess, just a guess, that the name is a reference to Miami being Florida's global gateway city.

With the exception of Nevada in football and UNLV in basketball, it isn't as if the current MWC brings a ton to the table. C-USA has a better line up top to bottom in the two main revenue sports than the MWC.

When will you all be changing your name?

  4. Have you ever driven to a game in Las Cruces? Evan and I drove to the "Miracle in the Desert" game and believe me... it's a long, long way. Like the folks at NMSU and wish them well but have no interest in being in a conference with them...

Our fans will travel to San Antonio in good numbers and we have a good amount of alums there who are already excited.

I hear a lot about adding new opponents based on what would it be like to travel to those games, but I think there is so much more. I understand that NMSU is no powerhouse, but is adding a school that just got a football team last year really a good move? That's something the Belt would do. It's a little embarrassing that we are in a conference with a school that just got a football team, and I can't even imagine what that embarrassment would look like should we lose to them.

So you all can take your away game experiences, but I'll take a stronger conference reputation.

  5. Personally, I am very disappointed with this move. This makes the CUSA even more watered down. It's a step up from the belt for us (as I have said), but its beginning to look a lot like not much of a step. In other words, I feel like we will be in the same place we are in now, in a few years. I was hoping that we would be content in a new conference for a while, but now I hope that our AD, Prez, and BOR will continue to look at other options once we are in the CUSA.

I would much rather see NMSU instead of UTSA, even though it doesn't make much sense having UTEP and NMSU (or maybe it does).

  6. Anything is better than the sunbelt right now, but I'm starting to get more depressed about the look of the new CUSA. Who will they replace UTEP with?

A lot of the pull to join their conference was to be able to play some recognizable and established schools, i.e. Houston, UCF, Memphis (looked forward to having them at the pit), UTEP, East Carolina. (intentionally left out SMU)
