This is sad. UTSA isn't even a real college. Of the downsides of joining CUSA, inviting UTSA in has to be the biggest.

I'll tell you what, CUSA West is pretty stinking fantastic as far as UNT being associated with regional, recognizable, like-minded schools. However, the East side of this conference is flat out terrible. Once ECU leaves and SMiss and UAB move West, there is no question that that half of the conference will hurt our reputation. I have to believe that Marshall will not be happy playing the likes of ODU, Charlotte, FIU, and FAU every year. Sure the Florida schools help them recruit Florida kids, but they darn sure aren't going to help their reputation or attendance. To me, I'm worried that having so many start-ups (or recent start-ups--FIU/FAU) over there leads to volatility for the whole league.
In all honesty, FAU and FIU need name changes. Short of them becoming the next BCS (or whatever) buster, those names are always going to sound like community colleges to everyone around the nation. I see the nice new stadium at FAU and know they are decent simply b/c I've been forced to watch them the last 10 years while we were in the Suck Belt together....but I still can't respect them with that name. I'm not trying to be an ass about it, but I just can't get past it.
Yeah. Lets face it the remaining CUSA is Sunbelt v2. It seems that so many are content to have a regional conference of primarily TX schools so we can have really fun away trips with the kids and watch our little Mean Green play the powerhouses of Rice and UTSA, but personally I'd rather see us on TV playing schools that are known nationally and not just regionally. What schools you say? Boise State, Air Force, Nevada, Colorado St, Fresno State. I'm not sure how anyone could take a stand and argue that those schools are not more nationally recognized than any in CUSA.

I have seen hundreds of students today, only a handful were wearing green. If the students really are as fired up as some have been saying, they aren't showing it by wearing green on game day.
This is really surprising as last Friday I saw more green on students since the Dickey bowl years.
I bet you also saw students dressed a little differently than they usually do. Maybe some wearing Zombie outfits, guys dressed as girls, etc.

No offense to you personally, but HELL NO!
Don't lower your expectations. As a fairly new UNT fan who has suffered through losing seasons, you guys deserve to demand a winning season from a team that is more than capable of achieving one.
If we lose to Southern Miss and/or don't make a bowl this year we should be upset. This team has shown that not achieving either of those two would be a vast disappointment for everyone involved. Coaches, players, fans, everyone.
So with a 4-8 record (3-5 in Suckbelt Conf) in 2012, you think we "deserve to demand" a bowl appearance, having moved up to a more difficult conference, a year later? Save me some of what you're drinking because it's gotta be illegal.

I think everyone is thinking a little too highly of our team this year. I'll be the first to say that I'm enjoying our season, but I wouldn't be a bit surprised if we lose to SoMiss. My suggestion is to lower the expectations a bit and just be happy happy happy if we continue to win this season. Lets not start licking our chops about bowl talk just yet.

Just wanted to stop by and say hello and look forward to playing the Mean Green on Saturday.
Looks like you have a senior QB that can run and throw. We've seen this for the 3rd straight game this year. The first 2 qb's, rolled up the yardage on us. We have a young defense and I think this game is close in the first half.
What's the Mean Greens take?

I still can't understand why we are not able to fix the ref's microphone. Is it that difficult of a problem that we just aren't able to do anything?
I guess it's a good thing that if after the season opener the only thing to complain about is not being able to hear the referees.
