  1. Hell, you are right! Why the spilt responsibilities?! Just kidding. I really can't wait till Dodge gets a couple of recruiting class under his belt and his existing players learn his schemes. So here is a question I have, who on this staff is going to be the recruiting guru? My biggest concern for Dodge is not his coaching ability, but how well will he recruit. A few weeks before Dodge was hired, I was talking with Rick V. and I asked him what was more important, good coaching or good recruiting. His response was, "good recruits make good coaches." Obviously, they go hand in hand, but talent evaluation is the key and as BSU displayed, that does not necessarily mean 4/5 star recruits, but looking beyond the basic rating systems in place.
  2. Fair question about coaching responsibilities, but before we all get worked up let's wait till the all the staff is hired and they play at least one game next season. If conventional thinking is all anyone ever did, Dodge would have never developed his offensive scheme he runs. Now after the first game next season, all Monday morning QBs and second guessing can offically begin. Remember, he recruited TX when he was at Air Force. As someone mentioned, if you can recruit for Air Force, you must be doing something right. Of course, I am not sure the student athlete at NT and AF are looking for the same thing. I cannot wait till next season begins, but even more excited about the team that coud be playing in Denton, in a new stadium in 2009!
  3. 1. QB - it all starts with the leadership at this positon. 2. O-line 3. D-line The funny thing about the QB position is it affects both lines. An example we all know very well - Romo vs Bledsoe. I can't wait to see what Dodge does with the existing QBs on the roster. Good luck to Coach Dodge in tonight's game.
  4. The win over smu is what it is - a win. Now, if we want to speculate about how many times over ten games we would win with the same players & coach, that is different. The fact is games are played one game at a time and the result of that one game is all that matters, even if you want to call it luck. How many times would UT win against USC over 10 games last year? Vince Young had one of the greatest college games of all time. Could he replicate that feat 10 times over USC? I do not believe he could, but the fact is the one game they played, UT won. We live in a world of "what is", not "what if." Now if you want to talk about a lucky win (2000 I think), how about the one where the Tech player ran down one our players in the closing moments of the game, causes a fumble inside of the 10 yard line on what would have been a game clinching TD. I listened to that game on the radio. George Dunham sounded so defeated. Now that was lucky for Tech from a Mean Green perspective. Tech would tell you it was skill on their part - speed to catch the player from behind and smarts to force the fumble. The great part about smu is they will get their chance next year. GO MEAN GREEN!
  5. Jamario did not look good last year. I know the o-line was not as solid in years past, but he did not look like the same back. I hope he bounces back because he created national coverage for the school after his freshman season.
