  1. It is amazing how the whole season people have been down on J-Mo then last night everyone is fired up about him again. We had the ball for awhile last night, and I think showed what the secret to our sucess should be and that is give J-Mo the ball. I know he has had some untimely fumbles this year, (no excuse there) but he also hasnt been giving a chance either. I think the rest of the year the games will ride on him. Give him the ball and let Patrick be the change of pace guy. If he gets 25-30 carries a game, I think we go 4-0. Also does going 4-0 and winning the NOB ease some pain and negativity on the board ?
  2. I think the positives out weigh the negative from last night was b/c we actually could have been down 28-10 or even 28-13 or 28-17 going into the 4th against LSU. But in reality it didnt happen but just to know that it could have been that close for 3 quarters is a positive considering how the season has gone. Instead in typical UNT fashion they went 99 yards quickly and made it 35-3 going into the 4th. The defense was so worn out that they probably could have scored 50 in the 4th. And I too think LSU was running up the score, come on 4 minutes left and still throwing ?
  3. Thats a tough one, I cant stand that guy. Was it a D-1 school ?
  4. I know we did it last year but it is always fun to do to. Somebody name a player and then respond with what college they went to. I will be first : Jamal Anderson ?
  5. If i remember right didnt we go 8-5 a couple of years ago and 9-4 the year after that ?
  6. Unless you are in the locker room at halftime, how would you or any other person on this board know whether or not they are making adjustments ? These guys know football whether it looks like it or not. Every coach makes adjustments in every game, now whether it looks like it or not, there are adjustments made. It is fine to question the play-calling but these guys have seen millions of hours of film, have gone to millions of clinics and heck Dickey's dad was a college head coach, so obviously the coaches know the game.
  7. untsig, were you around the program when we were going 2-9, 3-8, and we were playing Utah St. , NMSU, and Idaho ?
  8. I have always read the board daily but here lately it is hard for me to even click on here b/c of all the negativity. For all you so called supporters, who have diminished what we have done the last 4 years, shame on you. We cant help who we play and as far as I know we have taken care of business in conference. This may not be the best league but when you knock the whole league at least give credit to some of the things that teams have done in this league. Our first year MTSU had a very good 8-3 team and their only other losses were LSU and Tenn. and they played both of them very good. The year we beat NMSU for the title here they were 6-5 and I believe they almost beat Oregon St. and beat UTEP. Also dont forget about Troy last year beating a MAC bowl team in Marshall. And while I am on the MAC, didnt our conference sweep them last year ? Also didnt Ark. St. take an Eli Manning led Ole Miss team to the limit one year ? And didnt MTSU team beat an undefeated Vandy team this year ? Even though we do have the worst conf. it is not like every game every team gets blown out. As far as non-conference games go, well I think everybody is frustrated, we all want to win or at least look competitive. I think there has been games where we have been competitive but not this year, our style of offense just doesnt match up well against BCS schools. But somebody tell me this, out of all the non-conference games over the years, how many did we have at home, and how many were against weaker competition in weaker conferences ? Not that many....... No one ever brings up stuff like the year we lost at TCU that George Marshall dropped a TD pass right in his hands, no they blame Dickey. Or no one brings up the fact the year we lost to USF at home they were 9-2 that year and played OU very very tough the week before and they had a very very good Sr. Qb, should we have won the game, yes, but it is not like it was against a 2-9 team. And didnt FAU go 8-3 last year and beat a team that won a bowl game ? People tend to forget that one. Nobody mentions that when we played Arizona that we had an obvious TD not called and they scored on something you never see except for last week's MSU-OSU game, cant tell you when I have seen it before then. I am not completly defending Dickey b/c I sit in the stands and watch frustrated, and I listen to the games frustrated. But if people are going to get on here and bash at least tell both sides of the story. No matter how you slice it, the teams we play in OOC out-recruit us and play in a better conf. then we do. The last couple things, I stumbled across the NOB program the first year, and there were some similarities with that team and this one. First both very young, Knowlton, Buckles, Branch, Awasom, Cobbs were all Fresh. Spencer, Casey, Hurd, Booger, Hall, Jones were all Soph. Our backfield were new players. We didnt know some of these guys were going to be that good. And they all played a lot. That team struggled the first 5 games, highlighted by the Monroe loss. The offense didnt average very much, something like 140 both running and passing. My point is they were very young and had to grow into good players, we are very young, let these guys grow. 5 games isnt enough 2 years isnt enough, you cant tell me that Spencer and Casey were as good as Soph as they were at Sr's. Also how come you didnt hear anybody griping about the playcalling when Jamario was rushing for 291 yards ? Funny how that winning works.
  9. I never compared us to OU but our situations are similar. They are used to winning conference championships, and we are used to winning conf. champ. They have a great soph. running back, we have one as well. They have a redshirt frosh. QB we have a redshirt frosh QB. They have a young inexperienced O-line and defense we have it as well. My point is we are having a down year and we are not the only one, so since we need to get rid of our entire staff maybe since OU is 2-3 maybe they should do the same thing.
  10. "Or just tumbling downhill with this coaching staff?" I guess OU and staff are tumbling downhill as well.........
  11. It has to be big athletic lineman..................... It was plain to me watching the game the other night, that we are not very good on either side of the ball up front. We have some good players like Chapman and Lineberry but I thought that we got drove off the ball on defense and offense we didnt get people move. I think this past year we signed a lot of athletes and we have some young guys at the skill positons already so I think we are in good shape there. Now lets go get big boys who can run. The key to any team is up front on both sides of the ball. To me that is our biggest problem from year's past.
  12. I sat in the stands watching the 2001 game 37-10............ 14-10 at halftime
  13. I have been trying to think back at other OOC conference games in the Dickey Era. (Actually the Dickey era is the only era I know.) I was thinking of scores and how we did offensively. One game that sticks out in my mind is the OU game when Scott Hall was a sophmore. It was coming off the 19-5 loss to TCU in which our offense was comatose and OU was coming off their National Title. Does anyone else remember this, the first play of the game we have a trips set and Jamel is the inside reciever well we throw a quick screen to him and the next thing he is running down the sideline for about 60 yards. We ended up getting a field goal out of that. Also I remember that OU had the line stacked and were manned up outside and late in the 2nd quarter when the game was 14-3 Hall dropped back and hit George Marshall on a deep post and he scored to make the game 14-10 and I believe that was the score at halftime. We lost 37-10 but I want to say we had like 330 yards of offense. We had a young team then, ( sophmore Qb, freshman and juco RB, freshman and soph. Wr's not sure about the line.) My point is we were young then and playing the champs and we came out aggressive, where is that same aggression. How many quick screens have we thrown to our receivers ? How many times have we done a straight drop back and hit Quinn on a post or hitch route at that. We certainly havent had 300 yards of offense. GMG
  14. Here are some thoughts that have gone through my head the last few days...................... Our passing game struggled against Tulsa but so did the almighty ou sooners. They have played in the last 2 titles games and had the number 1 QB recruit in the nation a couple of years ago and his stats were 5-13- 2 int's and 43 yards passing against Tulsa. Tulsa also played a very good Minnesota team close until the 4th quarter. Minn. has blown out everyone this year and may be the suprise Big 10 team. Tulsa has a good team and it was a game where once it started snowballing we didnt stop it................................................ Also our defense is not that bad and actually better than last year's. Against MTSU I thought they played well considering they were out there most of the night. Against Tulsa when the game was still close, our defense was playing well and they were forcing 3 and outs. When the field position changed that is when they started scoring. I dont care who you are when the other team starts from midfield everytime you are going to give up some points. I think the defense will be very good a few weeks down the road..................... I hate it that we cant drop or get in the shotgun and complete passes. Every team you watch has a passing game but for some reason we dont. Every pass we throw is play-action or a semi-rollout. I dont think we are complicated at all in the passing game and most of the time we just have 1 or 2 reciever route. Watching Boise and BG last night and seeing them sit in the pocket completing passes frustrated me. ........................ Maybe we will pull the shocker this week........I dont think it will happen but I also didnt think we would lose by 52 at home...........
  15. Well with so much emphasis on speed, i think this is a good move, it puts your best on the field. I think Holman and Monroe both need to be on the field. Thompson and Mendoza are bigger but they arent as quick. They made the change so something must not be working.
  16. Stanford lost to a team that was D-2 last year, at home. UC-Davis is a first year D-1AA team. Things could always be worse. GMG.
  17. actually I just read where he may rest b/c of his hamstring. I wish he would rest that way he can get back to full strength.
  18. could be many similarities if J-Mo could get the ball more than 8 times a game.
  19. well right now in order for them to even out JaMario will have to get 28 carries Saturday and Cobbs get 0. When your offense has been struggling why not give J-Mo the opportunity to start a series to see what happens, heck he only had 10 carries of over 40 yards.
  20. I dont get the MGR and I havent heard Dickey say that he had a hamstring injury. If that is the case then why play him this week why not get him healthy for Troy or his he just going to get 5-10 carries a game the whole season ?
  21. There were tons of disappointing things about Saturday but to me JaMario not playing was the most disappointing. I had a crew with me that came to the game just to see him. Is he hurt or what, if so why not come out and say he is hurt. Otherwise this whole RB situation is not working out very well to me. Cobbs has 45 carries to J-Mo's 17. Watching J-Mo's highlights from last season made me remember how special he is. 291, 258, 256, 247, speaks for itself. My question is if he is hurt then why send him out there at all and risk losing him for a long period and if he isnt hurt then why is he not running the ball. Cobbs is good and had a good game but JaMario is one of those athletes that just has " It ." That special gift to make plays and turn nothing into something and he is a threat everytime he touches it. I remember Barry Switzer said when they played Okie St. that he hoped Thurman Thomas didnt get hurt b/c he didnt want Barry Sanders coming into the games. That is probably how opposing coaches feel about us. This point right now is similar to last year, we had a terrible home opener and everyone was down and we had to go to a Big 12 school and JaMario saved our season, I am hoping this week is the same thing except we win. How does JaMario at least not start a series the other night ?????????
  22. whatever you do dont say that J-MO needs more carries.............
  23. Coming from Denton, there is going to be at least 12 first timers coming to the game and tailgating. All are from Gainesville.
  24. I usually show up about 3 I was just curious to see what time other people arrive ?
