Funny you should bring this up. I sent the following in an email to a friend last night. Have you seen the SMUt schedule? If they don't win this weekend against the Mean Green, they just might have it in 'em to go winless in September. Look at it. Texas Tech killed 'em. After us, they play Arkansas State. If the same ASU that showed up against the 'Horns shows up against the Ponies, SMUt doesn't have a chance. Then they play at TCU & then UTEP. If they don't win this weekend, they could be in a lot of trouble. Somehow, I don't believe that would hurt John's feelings any. Question: If SMUt goes 0-5 in September, will Coach Bennet be around for October? On the other hand, if the MG wins, we can go 2-2 in September. If we can do that, we'll be good to go since it's the toughest part of our schedule. I would be very content with a 2-2 September. As long as we leave September 1-3 with a conference win, the northern front will be ok. Not great, but ok.

Ditto. He was actually sought after by other schools to play another position-- WR or DB. He certainly has the athleticism to help out @ another position. If he just has to be a QB, he can transfer down with no loss of eligibility. I too wish him the best.

If TS isn't going to be back, we should hear something anytime now. It is that time of year. FWIW, I think she will be back. Considering the year we had, we should have heard something before now. Now, for another year like this one, she might be gone. Look for Coach Slinker tot be back next season. Look for Texas to go after the really big name coaches-- ie the gal that was fired by Penn. Or was it Penn State?

I don't think too many here care about SIU. Some may want to see TSU make the jump, but I'm not sure they're inclinded to do that now. SIU or TSU will make that move when they think they're ready.

Uh, there is no 1A in basketball. The 1A and 1AA classifications only apply to football.

With a win over the Muts and a good show in the Final, an NIT bid is possible, but not too likely. Kinda depends on what other schools do in their tournies. Other schools blowin' it in the first round could help us a lot. Our best bet is still winning it all and going to the Big Dance. Considering who's left, I like our chances. But if we lose, it's over.

I think it will most likely go into the fall as well as TD doesn't know these guys. I also think WW may go to defensive back (if he is so inclined) if another QB either transfers here or is recruited. A friend & I discussed this over a plate of enchiladas earlier this evening. If he isn't so inclined, he may be out of luck. The QB promise is gone with DD-- good, bad or ugly, that's just the way it is. Again, don't be surprised if you hear of a current QB seeking a transfer. Should a current UNT QB decide to transfer, it'll likely be to a I-AA program. Given a transfer or recruit, one of them may find no other choice.
