  1. You are way off base if you think that Tech was born with a "silver spoon" Tech is in Lubbock. Enough said... Tech succeeds because it is well supported by alumni who contribute in the legislature and financially....Tech makes its own way. Tech is in exactly the same position as NT relative to UT and A&M. They receive no special funding because they are Tech, they raise their own money(about a million dollars a week). Tech on balance has been more successful in generating revenue because they have stronger local and alumni support. This is why they are a smaller school in the Big 12 and NT is in the Sunbelt... NT is in the metroplex and has a larger enrollment than Tech. If any school had a "silver spoon" it would be NT.
  2. Guns down and grades up? Tech athletes( and general students) have a significantly higher graduation rate than NT. Tech may have some idiot fans, but the majority aren't. You are right Q, the theme is that Tech has fans and NT doesn't... Their fans go to the games and give back to the school. NT has poor fan-alumni support for a school it's size and for it's location.
  3. Tech is a NT rival, but I would have to disagree with some of the above comments... Tech was recently given a Phi Beta Kappa chapter. NT does not have one. Tech has a higher average SAT than NT... Tech has a significantly higher graduation rate than NT... Tech has a much, much bigger endowment and raises far more money for scholarships than NT... Tech has far better alumni support and giving rate than NT- 56K to their last football game and over $500 million raised during their last capital campaign(another planned soon)...
  4. I remember Tech fans throwing tortillas during the 1995 Cotton Bowl..
  5. I believe that I read that Tech wants to play NT and if they aren't already on the future schedule, they will be. Tech likes to schedule metroplex games (SMU TCU) and has opened a series with Rice in Houston.
  6. What that kills NT and UH in these rankings is low retention and graduation rates...
  7. If all it takes is smmoze,NT needs to break out the booze! Endowment: NT $39 Million UH $420 million Tech$484million
  8. he can say Bye-Bye to an aspirations as a head coach...
  9. Tech always passes. That is their offense. Asking them to change their offense late is like asking Wisconsin to start throwing in the 4th (just to be sporting).. Had SHSU's QB not have left Tech for SHSU, even he would have gotten into the game.
  10. I'm sure that they will give Knight just enough rope to hang himself.... Middle-of-the-pack in the B12 is not a bad place to be. Tech has never had a losing record in B12 Football...
