Bob Tyler came to NT after being out of coaching for a while as I recall. His last coaching job was at Ole Miss.
He hit town with a big time attitude and a Brooks Brothers suit and impressed the interview committee.
Not too much is known about him as he didn't get all the boxes out of the garage before leaving town.
I think he went 5-6 but that's just my memory.

Last night, the !-AA National Championship game was played with former NT Head Coach Jerry Moore's Appalachian State University winning. Great for Jerry Moore.

I hate the argument that poor performance is justified by saying, "they're volunteers." Well of course they're volunteers. But what did they "volunteer" to do ?

I just got my NICHOLS STATE tickets. It is 1:30pm on Wednesday dec. 14. postmark dec. 5.

They've got my address right when I owe the Athletic Dept. money. But now that I'm looking for tickets, they don't know where to mail. I still( Monday evening) have not received my tickets for last Saturday night.

Some quick history as I remember it.
Before North Texas was demoted to 1-AA, there WAS no 1-AA. At that time, football was classified just like basketball ( div. 1, div.2, etc).
The NCAA set out some standards (stadium size, average attendance) that we couldn't meet. I was at the meeting, held in the then Mean Green locker room, where all this was aired. Fred Pole was the VP for external affairs at the time. He answered questions and there was no choice.
North Texas did not choose to drop to 1-AA. The NCAA made that decision for us.
We had some success in 1-AA and we were number 1 in the nation for several weeks back in 1988 or so. But still, we were a page 2 or 3 team.
I agree with those that say a 32,000 student university should be forever a top 50 team.
But the point of this post; no one at North Texas chose to become 1-AA. I've never heard the thing about Andy Everest losing paperwork. I don't think that is true.
Also, 1-A and 1-AA are football only terms. There are no 1-A or 1-AA basketball teams.

Not to be pickey, but Texas State took over with 1:37 left. Lots of time and 3 timeouts. I have a classmate with a son playing his last game with the Bobcats. I haven't had the nerve to call and ask his temperture yet.

We gotta do better. How hard could this be ? There must be a list of ticket holders that should get tickets. I know I get "rules" 2 or 3 times a football season for the Budweiser deck. And pizza ? How many do we use at a regular game ? Order that many again.

I'm not sure we can have "train hors" at Fouts. But it would probably increase attendance.

I was worried about it after the game last week. So much so, I found RV and he said i'd get the tickets in the mail. Saturday night came with no tickets in sight. I went to the will call desk, and ther was no problem at all. However, I wonder if the small turnout was because many didn't KNOW about the game

I had understood that when the new football stadium was built that the West stands at Fouts would be removed and the East stands would be left for track events etc. Yes ?

It's Mexican fare this year. They'll be serving fajitas, but without tortillas.

I like it. We could call it the "cotton-poly blend" bowl. It would save the City of Dallas millions and be a huge boon to the Denton economy.

My son (a senior in the Corps of Cadets) was at the game. We spoke during the game. He was surprised at how NT gave A & M all they wanted. I'd have loved to beat those Aggies. It would have made for some great Christmas dinner banter.

zip, nada, zero cheerleaders. Scrappy was there and did a good job.
As many of you know, I'm not a cheerleader guy.
Why not scrap the cheerleaders and expand the NT Dancers.
NFL teams don't use the high school/college type cheerleaders. We could lose the cheerleaders and replace them with the Dancers The Dancers can do everything the cheerleaders do without the anoying pyramids and flips
