Yall are crazy. Vito is 100% a fan by now, but he has to write an article from an objective point of view.  I understand that you may not like the way he points out our faults at times, but he’s just doing his job.

We are very lucky that we’ve had a beat writer like Brett for as long as we have. Most schools don’t.

Agreed! I also agree that SMU is Dallas's hometown university just as TCU is F. Worth's and both UNT and UTA will always be an afterthought.

100% they should be allowed to leave. I know that players leaving sucks, but when a player commits to a school, they commit to playing for that coach and his staff. In a sense, the coach backed out on the player, so the player should be allowed to back out. I'm not a fan of the constant revolving door in CFB, but I do side with the player's ability to leave in this situation

Yesterday 9 football recruits at Alabama de-. committed . Probably more to follow.

If we ever rebuild it needs to be across the street with a bridge that goes over the road between the two. Hold tournaments and house a parking garage next to it. Would love to see a restaurant there by the dorms again people would go to after games like the old fouts field.

Please remember that in Texas state funds can't be used for athletic facilities. A compromise would to have the athletic department raise funds via donations to update the locker rooms, etc. I suggested that for basketball games we cover the top sections with tarps which are [just guessing] about 4,000+ seats to force fans down and give the arena a more intimate feel but got nowhere. This was several AD's ago so if anyone agrees they might want to bring it up with our current administration. I am really dating myself but in the original Men's Gym [aka The Pitt] students planned and committed to go to games because if they didn't there was no room at the inn. In a 10,000 seat venue there is not that commitment as seats will always be available unless you somehow reduce capacity.

I got the exact same response word for word from the same person. Won’t make a big difference, but maybe someone will doublecheck next time? And atleast they know someone cares.

At least they responded. While it may be a complete blow off  they are now aware that there are fans following UNT. Thanks for reminding them.

While i love a lot of things about the pit, its time for an upgraded arena experience. The Pit is not ADA-friendly at all, it lacks things like a team store and quality hospitality seating like suites. Also, we should have an arena that holds about 7,000-7,500. It would make the 4-5,000 crowds look a lot better than they are. The pit is also super dark on TV ( not that it matters to us who go). It would cost more to renovate the pit then to build a new arena and the university still needs the 10,000 seats for graduations. Also, this allows athletics to have full control, and move it over to the Mean Green village so all sports are on the same side of campus (except swimming i believe). A new facility would do wonders for the program.

Just a guess and by golly but as NIL grows and D1 officially splits into "haves and have nots" the number of sports sponsored by the "nots" may shrink. When the split happens the NCAA will be weakened and universities will have more control over membership requirements. When these schools have control of NIL funds they will soon discover that football and basketball will eat up all of it. I just don't see how NIL and scholarship monies will avoid being co-mingled but who knows.

What else is there to do for entertainment in Wichita in the dead of winter?   It looked like an older fan base too.  I didn't see a lot of students.

Historically Wichita has had a great deal of fan support from its locals. However the AAC has lost U. Conn ,Cincy, and Houston, who all had strong basketball programs, since the Shockers left the MVC for greener pastures. The addition of 6 CUSA schools doesn't move the needle for them .

We have had football games in Apogee over 25,000, without great winning seasons.  We have had over 8,000 fans for a basketball game several times.  The SuperPit is also used for HS and college graduations = near full capacity.  The facilities are modern and capacity is not the issue.  With the upgrade to the AAC the opponents will be better.  Let's see if the draw is better with better OOC scheduling, more marketing and more winning.

I will defer to your memory regarding 8,000 in attendance for basketball " several times" but you don't build a venue for the very few instances you sell our an event. Regarding Apogee, I would not have put the " eagle tail" section in the end zone and left that space for future administrative growth. Again the handful of times Apogee has been over 25,000 is in stark contrast to our average attendance of 20,000 in a 30,000 seat stadium. I may be incorrect but attendance at our game against California from the PAC 12 was about the same as our game against ACU. Hopefully you are correct and improvements in scheduling, marketing, and winning will improve attendance.

The same reason that we built Apogee when we averaged 17,000 fans a game. At least with basketball we hang banners in the rafters with some consistency. Better ROI than football in that regard.

So we are averaging only 20,000 fans in a 30,000 seat stadium. Did we overbuild? Also when you have a 10,000 seat arena with less than 4,000 fans on average it looks pretty pitiful.Until we get an understanding of the negative impact NIL wiIl have on our athletic program I really don't know what I would do regarding investing in more programs and bricks and sticks.

One of the worst parts is players talk and when player A learns player B is making 20k more than him it breeds envy amongst teammates. All these guys and the people in their ear think they should play day one and have NFL futures. I know of a local player who went SEC and started this year but since he was offered less than other returning players who played he transferred. His Dad shopped him around with only criteria for new school being he needs a minimum of $100k.

Everyone agrees something needs to be done, but nothing will be done, NCAA is toast and the sooner we accept the fact that all the millions we pour in to football would be much better invested in to basketball the better off we will be.

Different pay for different play is called the NFL. I am no attorney but I can't see where the NCAA has the power to intervene in NIL payments.

Dang, man… Some of you can literally find the worst in everything this staff does. I honestly have no idea why some of you even follow this team, much less take time to post here. The thing with recruiting is you just never know anything until they put on the team gear and trot on the field.

Once at a point in time in a galaxy far,far away from North Texas football fans, the DMN looked at the college careers of the top dozen or so highly ranked high school players from the Metroplex. It was surprising to see the number of 4 star players who flamed out in college. I am not saying that I wouldn't like having a few on campus, but sometimes ranking can be misleading . If we had gotten just a little more play out of our defense this year against Navy and Memphis we would have finished 7 & 5 and gone to some piss ant bowl that no one ever heard of , and probably lost. Morris knows the holes that need to be filled so I trust the process. Merry Christmas to all you Mean Green grinches , and have a happy new year.

This was a good recruiting day for North Texas. We may not have pulled in the top recruiting class in the AAC, but we certainly improved the talent on our roster today. According to 247Sports, we finished the day with the 6th best AAC class (in the top half of the conference). That is better than every recruiting class in the Sun Belt & C-USA today. We also finished with a better class than all but 1 MAC program and all but 3 MWC programs. I hate that we lost some really good talent in recent weeks, but this haul seems like a big step towards rebuilding our plundered offense. But, I think defense remains a big question mark until we actually see improvements on the field next season.

We are now alone in 5th place , just about 5 points behind Memphis. Tulsa is #2, and sighed 10 of top 100 in DFW
