  1. Help me out here. I thought Carmouche was headed to Memphis. Did Carmouche change his mind? Am I thinking about a different UNO player? Did Memphis pull their Schooly offer? Thanks, Go JJ Go!!!!
  2. Oops...of course I was referring to J'Mison in stead of Ronnie. I think Ronnie thought a couple of years ago J'Mison was above coming to UNT. Know it could be that we'll be a much better team than UCLA in a couple of years. Oh, UCLA can reload on their reputation alone. If everything works out I don't see why we couldn't beat or hold our own against UCLA.
  3. Why wouldn't Ronnie Morgan come here. Mr. Morgan may have reported to UCLA out of shape, but past that worked to make himself into the player the coach wanted. As a result Morgan doesn't produce as well as that "player" wasn't who Ronnie Morgan is. Out at UCLA. Where's Ronnie Morgan going? Enter UNT and Johnny Jones. UNT 4 20 win season's and 2 appearances in the tourney in 4 years. Past that Johnny Jones has team ready to back to March madness in 2011 as most of his team will be back. Then enter new recruit Mr. McGhee...a stud by all accounts. Mr. McGhee along with current players and the addition of Ronnie Morgan in 2011/12 and UNT has team that can "play" with almost anyone. I think we have as good of a chance as anyone to recruit Ronnie Morgan because Johnny Jones has master plan he can use to sell Ronnie Morgan on. Mr. Morgan will have his chance to redeem himself nationally and get ready to play in the NBA. Meanwhile Johnny Jones is true to form and has a team that will be the best of the belt, begin to be the next Butler, and truly compete with all the power conferences. If this happens Auburn won't be the only school knocking at UNT's door to steal Mr. Johnny Jones. I for one hope it works out this way.
  4. I was traveling one night to casino in LA. Low and behold and Interview with Dale Brown came on the air. Dale went on to say when he left LSU he recommended Johnny Jones to take over as head coach. LSU did take Dale Brown's recommendation because Johnny Jones didn't have any head coaching experience at the time. If Dale Brown has any pull left at LSU and their coaching job open's up again I'd suspect Mr. Brown will be lobbying for Johnny Jones just like he did in the past. I remember in 07 Dale Brown showed up here to take pictures with Johnny Jones and UNT team. I'd get Dale Brown and Johnny Jones are still very close friends. I'd also believe if Dale Brown runs across a recruit or two Johnny gets a call from his old friend Dale Brown.
  5. I didn't mean to imply the Super Pit was a bad place to play at all. Point is Hofhienz has major problems like Fouts Field has. I should have made that comparison. I don't think the AD and other big wigs in U of H probably appreciated Mr. Pender's discussing his contract on the Radio so openly. Penders took a lot of heat for not recruiting "Houston Area" much like D. Dickey when he was at UNT. It's a roll of the dice. I didn't appreciate some of the things DD did while at UNT, but I thought some were really hard on him. Enter the "GREAT TODD DODGE" Our SAVOR at the time. I knew he wouldn't be, but when Mr. Dodge was hired you could tell anyone he wasn't the "ONE". Now the "ONE" is fighting for his job. Do I believe Todd Dodge is a terrible coach, or not even a good coach. Not going to make that call. Everyone one has to come to their own conclusion. Do I believe we could have made a better hire, YES!!!! A lot of students on scholarships left the football program. Things must have been pretty bad for those kids to give up a paid for collage education. It's easy to say the kids are quitters. I was at the Rice UNT game 77-20 I think. Score could have been over 100 to 20, but Rice coach didn't run up score. Anyway, don't know why I hit tangent and started talking Football on the Basketball board. I only look at Basketball board now. For years other way around. Don't have much interest in changing back. I hope we keep Johnny Jones for a long time. Reality is Mr. Jones has earned every cent of his contract and more. UNT has been blessed by Johnny Jones staying with UNT and building what he has. RV needs to Robb the stadium fund and give JJ even more money. We really to have one sport say at the top of our conference and keep UNT on national stage. Super Pit is great place to play and it's much cheaper to pay BB coaching staff the big bucks than a staff of 10+ FB coaches. Past that any continuing BB facilities wouldn't cost 50 ml. to fund. Our basketball attendence will continue to rise each year if team keeps winning. UNT can't afford to let BB program slide like it did in late 70's early 80's, or like FB has since early 2000's. If we do UNT will pay the price. RV go out on a limb to keep Johnny Jones here. JJ may have you over a barrel concerning his contract, but he's proven and has done everything he promised he would for UNT Basketball and more. How long has it been since we can say the same about a FB or any other coach at UNT.
