  1. Just thought I'd ask. We'll be out there, should be a blast. We've got reserved seats, but I'd be happy to join anybody on the lawn for a cold one.
  2. I think this is very good news. This, if nothing else, provides the Cowboys with an experienced back-up to Quincy. What happens last year if Quincy goes down? Chutch to the rescue? I'd rather bring Jason Garrett back (seriously). If that happens this year, the offense should still be competitive (cough, kinda). I agree, if Carter wasn't sweating his job before, he's probably feeling the heat for sure now. That's a good thing. Oh and about Warner...I saw a picture of him and his wife once...which one of them plays football again?
  3. Man, Aaron, I missed the show today...but I sure wish I had heard your call. I agree with everything you're saying, and I'm not happy about the Lakers being in the Finals. There was some seriously fishy things going on, as you mentioned. Do what they want...but with a healthy first AND second-string point guard in the line-up...the T-Wolves are a different team. They beat the Fakers three out of four in the regular season. I guess the only thing to watch for in the sure to be boring Finals will be Rip Hamilton out-hustling Kobe Bryant. Ben Wallace is the best interior defender in the league...but do you think he'll have a good series playing against Shaq? I seriously doubt it, and not because he can't defend him... Shaq will play football style, get every call, and hit 46 percent of his free throws...and the Lakers will win. It's a shame too...other than Rasheed, I kinda like the Pistons. I was pulling for the Pacers though (why stop giving the ball to Jermaine O'Neal in the second half???). Anyway, the NBA has been disappointing this season to say the least.
  4. Well, what can I say...Kevin Garnett is only one man, he needs some freakin' help. A healthy Cassell/Troy Hudson combo would make this series a little closer. The T-Wolves run a good portion of the game without a point guard...makes it hard to match up with Payton/Fisher. Hopefully the Pacers come through tonight...I cringe at the thought of a Lakers/Pistons final.
  5. That ending last night was crazy. Jermaine O'Neal packs Rasheed's dunk (again) and the fast break starts...DUNK THE BALL REGGIE! I know you're old, but you gotta send that one down. It was still very exciting.
  6. Well, the Wolves absolutely destroyed the Lakers in Game 2 even though Sam Cassell played all of 30 seconds...that was kinda surprising. Hopefully their defense can keep the Lakers offense off-balanced when they get back to LA. Good game between Indy and Detroit. Jermaine O'Neal is freakin' awesome. Do the Mavericks take a shot at getting a Tyson Chandler or a Kwame Brown in hopes that they turn into a Jermaine O'Neal? Probably not.
  7. What about Perfect Strangers with Balkee Bartawkuhmoos and Cousin Larry? "Don't be reh-dic-oh-loos!" I'm kidding by the way.
  8. I just wanted to kick up a conversation about the playoffs because some pretty crazy things have happened. I think that Kevin Garnett is showing why he is the MVP...and probably the best player in the world right now. He said some stupid things to the media, but he apologized (probably at the request of his agent). He was a monster in game 7 versus Sacramento. I'm pulling for the T-Wolves now; one, because I like KG and Cassell, and two, I do NOT like the Lakers. On the "not as exciting" Eastern conference side, I liked watching the Heat (mainly Dwayne Wade) play. Jermaine O'Neal is definitely the real deal. I didn't watch much of the Pistons/Nets series, but Jason Kidd was apparently shut out in game 7? I'm predicting Wolves in 7 and Pacers in 7. Oh yeah, one last thing. I can't tell you how happy I am that the Sacramento Drama Queens have been eliminated...again. I know it wasn't the Mavs' year, and they had our number. But watching "Mini-Me," "the Flopping Lumberjack," the "man" named Christie, "headband on a white guy" Miller, "mouth's always open" Stojakovic, and "no time outs left" Webber get knocked out of the playoffs again makes me feel all warm and fuzzy inside.
  9. I like both QB's, and they both have strenghts and weaknesses. However, Hall's season last year was far from spectacular. He had some really good looking touchdown passes. SOME of them were simply balls he flung downfield that Johnny Quinn went after with some amazing catches. He did throw a strike to Cobbs in the endzone in one game, that was sweet. I still can't help but think what might have been in the New Orleans Bowl had Scott hit Andy Blount streaking down the middle of the field behind the entire defense. Momentum was crucial at that early stage of the game.
  10. All I have to say is ouch. How heart-breaking was that!? Jeez, if one or two of those game winning shots goes in...ah what could have been. I hate to say it, but when Antoine Walker was in at the crunch time at the fourth quarter he made three blatant mistakes that swung momentum back to the Kings. I will not miss him next year. Nash reminded me why he is my favorite player and why he is so vital to this team. I hope we find a way to keep him. That pass over his head to Dirk on the fast break was incredible. The Kings escaped this series, and the series was a lot closer than the numbers show. A couple free throws fall in game 4 and just one game winning shot goes in and we're right there. Oh well. Now that I've calmed down, this was damn fun basketball to watch. I wish the Mavs could have pulled it out, but jeez it was fun. I'll never forget the double overtime game last year where Van Exel dropped 40 on the Queens to win it. Now we all get to watch the excitment that is the Pacers, Spurs, and Pistons. <_< I guess I'm pulling for the Timberwolves now. KG will make Webber look like an idiot even more than Dirk did.
  11. We've got Kings fans coming out of the woodworks...funny. Well, that's two heart-breaking losses in the series. A couple different bounces, different calls, etc. and this would have been a different series. The Kings are not themselves...Webber looks sluggish, Miller looks overrated, and Bibby and Stojakovic are inconsistent. Don't even get me started on Doug Christie. HOWEVER, they found a way to win last night. I haven't seen Steve Nash make a good play to win a game in forever. They got the play they wanted, and Peja overplayed Steve to the right...had we had 2 or 3 more seconds Nash could have hit one of the guys on the perimeter for a game winning shot. The shot he took was not a good one. People say that the Mavs are lucky to catch the Kings when they're kinda beat up. But it was obvious that Jamison was hurting...and Nash and Finley are not playing up to their usual par. Oh, and Dirk missing so many free throws??? You're welcome Sacramento...that won't happen again. Anyway, the game hurt, and I don't want to start the off-season thread too early...but I think it's safe to say the Walker experiment failed, and this team needs to be restructured in the off-season. Newy said it's going to come down to Don Nelson and whether or not he's willing to bring in some actual defensive presence that he will allow to be on the floor for more than 20 minutes a game. Otherwise, it's going to be nice 50 win seasons with exits in the playoffs for a long time. The team as it stands has hit its ceiling in my opinion.
  12. The Mavs knocked the Kings out of the playoffs last year and went to the Western Conference Finals...where two Texas (and no California) teams played. If it's another blowout for the Mavs tonight, confidence will sky-rocket...and look out.
  13. You mean teams other than Dallas actually win at the American Airlines Center?
  14. Game 3 is almost over, and the Mavs Varsity team (the home squad) impressed as usual today. A couple of things...Finley's jump shot still isn't falling frequently, but AT LEAST he took it to the hole a few times and got some foul shots. Some poor officiating took place, namely the 3rd and 4th fouls called on Nash in the first half, but I'll take it. I started calling for Najera there in the second half, and sure enough he came in and made a difference again. The rookies looked intense. Overall a pretty decent performance that should get confidence back up for game 4. We lost 2 relatively close games in Sac Town...we blew them out at home. PUT YOUR HAND DOWN, DOUG CHRISTIE...YOU STINK.
  15. Well dang, Tatum Bell gets grabbed up...and we end up with Julius Jones. This is not exactly who I pictured as the feature back for the Cowboys next year...but I guess we'll see.
  16. Ouch...Jackson, Jones, and Perry are all gone. I hope they have something in mind. In just this offseason we've lost out on those three plus free agents like Corey Dillon and Duce Staley. Quincy is a decent QB, but we need an upgrade at RB to help him out. <_
  17. It's been an interesting draft so far...the Eli Manning thing was pretty crazy. He sure got a lot of boos. I kinda wish the Cowboys would have taken Steven Jackson, he was an absolute steal that far down in the first round. I will have to trust that Bill won't steer us wrong. I also hope that Kevin Jones is still there when we finally get to pick.
  18. One of the all time great catchers...and kind of a Charles Barkley look-a-like. Earl Boykins
  19. Agree...series is far from over. We kept it relatively close in game 1 and the Queens barely escaped game 2 with a win. It's time to come play in Texas. We need to focus on one at a time...but going back to Sac. tied 2-2 would be huge. Congrats to AJ on 6th man of the year. Let's hope he starts next year.
  20. Well, game 2 was obviously a heartbreaker. The Mavs did a lot of good things defensively in my opinion. Bringing in Najera was a good move that Nelson doesn't do often enough. I didn't agree with a lot of the things Nelson did tonight. Why bring in Scott Williams in the first half and run two plays for him to score? Williams is slow and old, and all we need him for is fouls and occasional rebound. Also, Finley was as inconsistent as I've ever seen him, and he's NEVER been a good ball handler. Why in the world would you call a play for him with the game on the line? They could have run the exact same play for Dirk and he at least would have gotten a shot off. He's the only one on the team that looks like he's hungry and willing to step up when it counts. Oh well, we had a chance to really steal the momentum tonight, and we blew it in the last 2 minutes. Oh yeah, and Vlade Divac talking trash from the bench is just hilarious. That big hairy flopping lumberjack was nothing but a liability to his team tonight. We better win games 3 and 4 in an impressive fashion, or it's lights out...and nothing but baseball around here for a long time.
  21. Okay, after game 1, I don't feel too bad. The Mavs played well for most of the game, which always worries me because they always have one BAD quarter. When they play well for the first three, look out. We had a chance to make a huge run in the third quarter, but no one would step up and hit a shot. Dirk was good as usual, but Finley disappeared. How he can let freakin' Doug Christie out play him is beyond me...that guy is such a chump you think Finley would be fired up. Jamison wasn't as impressive as he usually is, and Walker looked like a freakin' deer in headlights. The rookies played well, but faded a little towards the end. How can you leave Peja free behind the arc? I'm not talking about him hitting shots over outreached hands either...there were times he was shooting with no one within 8 feet of him. Stojakovic is a one trick pony, he shoots outside jumpers, that's it. You think Nellie would have someone shadowing him at all times. Won't cut it. Not too much doom and gloom though...the effort was there for the most part, which is something strange coming from the Dallas JV squad (the road version). Gotta get one in Sac Town, hopefully it'll happen Tuesday night.
  22. Can't find the game on Fox Sports Southwest...anyone know what channel it's on?
  23. Looks better as a Rocket than he did as a King. AND...of Jamal, Jason, and Jimmy, he turned out to be the weakest. There ya go. Rod Tidwell
  24. "The Dream" Would have hung well with Shaq and Duncan in his prime. John Starks
