  1. Topper Jeff-Glad to see a Haven poster on the Mean Green Board. UNT will have a good chance to beat the WKU men this Saturday. Come Saturday, the Toppers will be playing their 4th game in 7 days and will likely be a tired team. Also, Denver is in Diddle Thursday night and it promises to be a dog fight. With the double-header scheduled for Saturday, I hope the Super Pit is packed (At least the lower level). I'm excited about the match-up Saturday. I believe we are in store for a great game.
  2. From what I heard, he believed that WKU wasn't the big time and wanted to take his game University of KY. I believe that he just used the coaching change as an excuse to bolt out of Bowling Green. If Patrick left soley because of the coaching change, he would of followed Felton to UGA. I think the kid has always wanted to play for UK and was determined to get to Lexington by any means, including using and abusing the people in Bowling Green.
  3. The fans in KY treated Patrick as royalty. His home town laid out $25,000 a year for a luxury box in Diddle Arena just to watch him play. He was going to go down in WKU history as probably one of the greatest players to ever play on the Hill. However, Patrica turned his back on the Big Red nation in order to feed his ego. I don't wish the kid bad luck but what he did to the students and fans in Bowling Green is simply a classless move. WKU hoops is on the rise and will survive fine without Patrick. WKU has beaten both UK and UL during their last meetings. The new coach (Darrin Horn) can run circles around Felton in terms of coaching and recruiting. Even though the Toppers lost 4 starters from this year's team, there is still a chance that WKU will be in the Top 25 when all is said and done next year. I can't wait for the Toppers to visit Denton in 2004. UNT-2003 Football Sun Belt Champs WKU-2004 B-ball Sun Belt Champs P.S.- Both WKU and UNT deserve to play in a better conference!
  4. Diamond Eagle-If Patrick Sparks is going to Murray State it is because his Dad will be on the coaching staff. It is more likely that Patrick will transfer to the University of Kentucky or the University of Louisville. He may also follow Felton to UGA but not likely. As far as the Toppers go, they will still be the team to beat in the Sun Belt conference. Tudor Pandov (who will be playing in the NBA someday) will return after sitting out last season with knee injury. Nigel Dixon-Big Jelly (6'11"- 300+ a transfer from Fla ST) who averaged 13 pts a game in the ACC, will become eligible. Mike Wells, the Defensive Player of the Year in the conference and Anthony Winchester, the Freshman of the Year in the conference will be returning. Also, WKU's new coach (Darrin Horn) may be one of the brightest young coaches in the nation. Much like the UNT football team, WKU will likely continue to dominate the SBC conference in basketball for many years to come. I think Patrick will eventually regret his decesion to transfer. He was treated like a king in Bowling Green. If you went to a game in Diddle Arena, you would see at least 50 kids wearing #22 Sparks jerseys. His hometown (Mulenberg County) leased a luxury box in Diddle ($25,000 per year) just to watch the kid play. WKU will miss Sparks greatly; however, the program will continue to grow under Horn's leadership. GO MEAN GREEN _GO TOPS
  5. UGA has scheduled a press conference to announce that Dennis Felton will be named the new Georgia basketball coach. Felton had just signed a seven year deal @ $400,000 per year with the Toppers. However, UGA offered Dennis close to $1,000,000 for 5 years. The SBC and WKU are losing a good coach. The Toppers domination of the SBC may soon be coming to an end.
  6. Green Eggs and Ham-Let's trade Cities. It sound's like you are a die hard Eagles Fan living in Bowling Green and I am a die hard Hilltopper fan living in the Metroplex. What do you say?
  7. Marcus graduated this summer. He was enrolled in graduate school. Actually, I think he enjoyed the academic environment more than the basketball environment. Looking forward to the game on Saturday. Should be very competitive. The Toppers have only won two games on the road this year.
  8. Huge win for WKU's woman program given that the coach last year was fired before the season ended. However, the men's team does not appear to be as strong as the preseason polls projected. WKU lost its best player (Tudor Pandov) on Saturday for the season with a torn ACL and MCL and All-America candidate Chris Marcus (recovering from off season surgery) shows no sign of playing anytime soon. I think that most Hilltopper fans thought that we would stroll through the Sun Belt this year. However, right now ULL has to be the favorites to win the Sun Belt title. Also, most Topper fans believe that UNT is an upcoming program that will be competing for a basketball title in the next couple of years. Your program has made termendous strides in the past 18 months. I hope UNT's adminstration has the fore sight to keep your current coach at UNT for many years to come. Good luck during the upcoming season.
