    Why North Texas Will Win

At least there’s a whole lot of experience in place for the Mean Green to be a whole lot better, and it’s all helped by new defensive coordinator Phil Bennett.

It’s the offensive side that should be the difference-maker. The D will give up points and yards, but the O will get them back and then some against the Demon defense. The Mean Green led Conference USA in rushing, passing, and it’s all about to keep on going.

The Northwestern State defense allowed 473 yards per game, and it’ll give up at least that many to the Mean Green attack.

I think the defense holds and we hang 50 on this team.

It sounds like Ruder is gonna pass him, anyways, but man! what a combative take.  It's like you're inviting argument.

Since when is telling it like I see it a combative take? Aune isnt that great. Everyone should have known Ruder would more than likely start.

Man,  I get the "next guy up" mentality.  The players MUST have this mindset...  but I feel like some of y'all are short-changing the impact losing Adaway will have.   Not every Freshman backup RB is going to be Jamario Thomas.

I'm hopeful Isaiah, Keith and Ikaika will be able to fill Oscar's shoes, but it's gonna be tough.

Adaway was the most talented guy we had on offense. its a shame he is out.

Adaway is a big loss, but let's not devalue who we have on the roster.  Adaway, coming out of high school, was a 3-star (.8369) recruit at 6' and 208 lbs.  Here's is what we have.

    Ragsdale: 3-star (.8372); 6' 213 lbs. and with a better offer list.

Johnson: 3-star (.8167); 6' 200 lbs.  I got to see him play some in HS and would state that is rating was a little low IMHO.

    Jackson: 3-star (.8364); 5' 10" 195  lbs. and wit a better offer list.

We are going to be alright.

Id say lets see what Johnson can do for now. We need that bruising back.

I guess you just don't get it. Stop being negative against the player you don't favor. You bring up some valid issues for the players you support but stop with the constant attacks on the other players.

Just because I bring up a players weaknesses doesn't mean I am attacking that player. I have no ill will against Aune, I just know that if he is QB that we wont win more than 5 or 6 games at best. I am hoping that we have someone on the current roster better than that, its not a slight toward a certain player at all.

Maybe ... you always seems to need to try and cut down a player to promote the players you favor. Stick to the positives of "your" choice and lay off the negatives of the other Mean Green players

What person doesnt prefer a certain player over another player? All fans do that. Still not a good enough explanation. And all fans point out pros and cons of each player and show bias. Its clear the people who down vote me do so because I am not a fan of the club, or they like Aune over Ruder. Or Both.

    Read what you just wrote.

You and everyone else tells it like they think it is, that does not make it correct or does not make it not debatable

Opinions are not facts or sometimes even based on facts

You are voted down because you are not part of the "Good Ole Boy Group", how insane is that?

That is just looking for attention and you are getting it.

I am starting to feel this is the truth.

I am of the believe that if they look the same at this point then Ruder should be getting the start

I agree! He has had less time to prepare with the offense and can only get better. If he is as good as Aune is now, in a few weeks time when more comfortable with the offense, he should be night and day better than Aune, the fact people have them neck and neck is more telling of Ruder than Aune IMO. Ill Cheer for whoever, but doesnt mean I dont have a preference. We already know what Aune can and cant do.

I think today’s scrimmage shows by reps that Seth is starting Aune against NWS. No matter who you were pulling for it’s time we all came together and put our full support behind Aune as camp is over and the season has begun.

Its a lot of Hurry up and wait, I think the over and under that Aune is replaced by Ruder by game 3 is pretty high. Ill cheer for this team win or loss, always have, even through the Dodge days. I wish the team well, but its going to be a long season if our defense doesnt hold it together and Aune cant put points on the board during first half play. Now Adaway is out, looks like it could be a long season Ladies and Gentlemen.  I think winning six is even generous right now. Adaway is a sort of talent you cant just replace instantly.

No, I down voted you because you argue with yourself and make up accusations. It is your posting style.

I argue with myself about Torey, and yet there is an entire thread about how great he is, even though he isnt even the second most talented back we have. Well now that Adaway is hurt, I guess its next man up! You down vote me, because I am not part of the good ole boy group.

Jason Bean transferred in and arrived this summer from North Texas. Last year he was in the middle of a heated battle with Austin Aune, who went back to football after playing baseball in the Yankees organization. Bean likes how all three quarterbacks have handled the competition.

“I'm really excited, first of all, just to be in this position,” Bean said. “Those two guys are great guys. Each day I can learn something from them, and I can go up to them and ask questions. There's any hostility between the three of us. I think this is probably one of the best quarterback positions I've been in.”

Miles Kendrick on Daniels and Bean

“I'd say Jason and Jaylen bring similar things to the table: explosiveness with their legs, explosiveness with their arms, and being able just to create plays, make big plays, make big throws. They can make any throw on the field, on the run, in the pocket, getting outside, creating with their legs, making explosive plays with their legs, and influencing offense in that way. Very similar games, and they can do it all, man. Those guys are great quarterback and great competitors.”

    Jalon Daniels on  Bean

“Jason is a ballplayer. He came in and I've just been able to learn and grow from him. He's a very fast guy, has the arm talent to make every single throw that he wants.

Bean has the Arm Talent to make every throw? Are these coaches blind at KU or what?

Have you even been reading how they are trying to move Torrey to the slot? Everyone already knows Adaway is the best back because we HAVE SEEN HIM PLAY AT NORTH TEXAS.

I hope you are right, but we must wait. Thats the part thats never fun! Littrell does have love for veteran player sometimes, and sometimes its a little too much love.

    Cheers pal.

Like I said before, despite Aune's #'s last year, I was pretty critical of his play.   Ideally he's going to get better in year 2.  This bodes well for UNT football.
And Ruder hasn't played meaningful football since 2018, that's my apprehension on him.   On paper, he checks off all the boxes & he's already put himself squarely in competition to start day 1 which is very impressive.   This also bodes well for UNT football.

You may feel strongly, and that's fine.  I actually like it.   I just don't have that same conviction.
Many here are turning the heat up on Littrell, myself included,  but I'll still trust his judgement on who he thinks moves his offense best.   Whether that's Aune over Ruder, or vice versa, so be it.  Either way, I expect QB play to improve from last season despite losing Darden.

I sure hope you're right. My biggest problem with Littrell is we have the talent, but lack the discipline, or play players at the wrong positions, or play the wrong guys period. It drives me insane at times.

6-6 with Ruder being a dual threat star! Dramatic improvement in the D!

Ruder and Adaway together could be a game changer. I dont think this team is all that bad as people are saying. Discipline from start to finish is whats beaten us more than lack of talent.

Upon further review, looks like it got tipped

I didnt see a tip, but maybe there was. Either way its clear that Ruders passes are more crisp than Aune's. Even from this little snip it of videos. My biggest concern are all the drops from receivers that I am seeing. Ruder is hitting dudes in the chest and guys are dropping it.
