We look small and wimpy in the paint tonight

Baylor will probably be our conference mate in whatever CUSA/AAC turns into after the Big 12 implodes. I don't know why they're being all high and mighty. Baylor doesn't bring much to a potential future conference aside from currently being a P5.

This is great news and things at Athletics are going great in many areas. Not sure however why we can't let RV stay out of these conversations. He did many good things over his time at UNT and some that some disagreed with. That being said there is no need to continue to bash someone over disagreements we had in the past. RV moved on but is still active and supporting and a real fan of UNT. Move on Guys!!!!!

I think a lot of the frustration from his tenure comes from the fact that most fans realize that the era of teams moving from the non power conferences to power conferences is over. If we're honest, I'm not sure senior leadership at the time would have supported an AD's plan to get us into the P5. Several schools (like SMU and UH) have spent a ton of money to make the leap, had leadership support, and didn't make it anyway.
However, RV was the AD at the time and the fact of the matter is some schools made the non power to power conference leap, and we were not one of them. Some fans will always hold that against him.
The consultants report didn't help his image out at all either.
How anyone can read that consultants report and still stick up for RV is beyond me. It seems like the athletics department under RV had a "F it, it's good enough" mentality towards everything.

I like how they refer to us as a cupcake, smaller school and also excuse their road games to smuT, NutsaCK, Rice and TSUSM as being close to large metro areas. My goodness that school is full of idiots.
Note to Baker, have replacements on the ready for smuT and Baylor. The way they run their programs, they may be gone by the time these games come around.

BU fans are a little mad. Some clearly haven't come to terms with their current and future station in the Big 12.
This is great for North Texas. The ability to schedule home/homes is a good sign of how our athletics department is viewed by peer institutions.

I believe they do have a provision that includes victories over 10 points
What you're referring to is the scoring margin component of NET, which is capped at 10 points. So blowouts don't count for extra.

Not to disagree - I think UNT should replace them and makes more sense - but it’s remarkable how that piddly 10,000 base owns so much of our DFW media.
Oh absolutely. You have to give SMU credit. They're able to leverage their planter class alumni to position themselves favorably. Money always makes things better.

Refs let the game get out of control by being inconsistent. That’s officiating 101.
the Rice coach legitimately looked like he wanted to fight the far side official. Coach chased him down to the tunnel entrance and had to be restrained by his assistants. Pathetic behavior for a professional.
Does anyone have video of it?

That’s on par for every game I attended so far. Game day in game experience has to get better very sub par performance from staff and cheerleaders to keep crowd motivated and engaged. Obviously poor play from our team isn’t helping along with the close to 40 first half fouls called
Game day operations really do need work.

From my vantage point it looked like one ref got into bit of a shouting match with Grant early in the half. If that’s what happened it would make sense. He’s giving it to us.

It looks good here. Court is bright and crowd is loud. Maybe 4K?
Good crowd but kind of quiet

The worst officiating I’ve ever seen in a college basketball game. Phantom fouls being called all over the court.

Are you referring to the AAC's interest in the DFW market?
AAC is moving their headquarters to Dallas. They have serious interest in the area. If they want to invest in DFW, they're going to need more than piddly little SMU and their 10,000 alumni. North Texas to the AAC could be mutually beneficial to both our institutions, regardless of what the dipshits on PonyFans think.

What influence does a small school like SMU really carry? They're not as good as they were a few years ago in basketball and have had only a couple years of winning football plus everyone knows they inflate their attendance numbets.
I agree. I think it the opportunity were to present itself, that it would be an interesting display of AAC internal politics. Does SMU have that much clout inside the conference? I don't think it will be as simple as "oh SMU doesn't want us, so we have no chance."
The only complicating factor would be needing unanimous approval from all member schools to enter the conference. Not sure what AACs bylaws look like.

UConn is in a really interesting situation. The American does nothing to help their football team, and actually takes away from their ability to sustain a level of basketball success they expect to have. Also, nobody really cares about college football in the northeast. Dropping to FCS makes a lot of sense for them. The CAA is a really good football conference.

I just hate it that we lost in that uniform. It's still a good look.
I'm very bitter about that, but I hope they bring it back from time to time. It's too good to keep on the shelf.

I don't think Big 12 would happen. Our stadium is far too small, and the other regional schools wouldn't want another school in their backyard to recruit against. I would love it if it would happen, but probably never will...
You're taking my comment too literally. We'd like to be in [insert conference here], but its really not up to just us.

Well if it were up to us, we'd be in the Big 12. But it doesn't work like that.
