I only wish Vito could break a story. GT broke their own story.

Smith and the other guy is not enough at running back! We need another Wilson!
Easly will be back next year. We still have Torrey, Smith, and Evan Johnson. We also had that RB from UCONN transfer in and sat this season. We are fine. Would love to see Garrison Johnson, but we need to focus on guys who want to be apart of this Fl19ht Club

Garrison Johnson just decommitted. Little less depth now.
Has an offer from Syracuse with his former HS coach Kirk Martin.

Jeff was the starting back and his carries were given to Brieda after his fumble. He would have had 20+ carries this game if it wasnt for the fumble.

I love Mason. I think he is the best player here since Mean Joe. However, his size and durability have concerned me since day 1 when he came into the SMU game in 2016. The dude is small. We all know that. He can play with the best of them, but if we do not have an all conference O-Line, he is going to get killed like he did in this game and the FAU game. We were lucky he played most of 2017 injury free. I hope he bounces back and has a great offseason and senior year in 2019. However, any of our QBs after him all have some size on him. If Kason Martin can bulk up and build on the talent he has, I really think he can be a monster, up there with the production Fine has given. Beef up the O-Line too and man this could get scary. We have some work to do, but the future is bright.

Something I realized after reading this is we do not see many or possibly any arrests coming from the UNT football team as of late. I remember Mac’s teams would always have a guy here and a guy there busted for Public Intox, Shoplifting, etc... but I can’t remember the last player to be caught for something like that. And if they did, SL was quick to let them go from the team.
I am proud of the men that SL and staff are molding. I mean look at the leaders of this team. Would you really think they would associate themselves with that kind of lifestyle? They know they have bigger things to do in life. It’s a shame we had even leaders of our football team a few years ago that would engage in criminal behavior like that.
For FIU, I would be ashamed of this. Time to cut him and move on. No excuse for this at all.

The NYT isn't going to be popular with some on this board, but it's really big for one of our players to get some press there.
Edit: and we still cant get decent press from the rags in Ft Worth and Dallas. It's laughable.
It would be nice if Ben Baby showed some love to his alma mater at the DMN...

Feels like that softens our schedule a bit. MTSU will have to replace Stockstill and we get them at home. Not sure what Charlotte has but they'll have a new coach.
On the other hand: La Tech has FIU and goes to Marshall
Southern Miss goes to FAU
On the surface, their crossovers look a little more challenging. Especially La Tech
I will take the schedule. MTSU is a really consistent team. They are good most years. Charlotte is a new team we haven't faced. I much rather play this schedule than WKU, Marshall, and MTSU that we had to play in 15 and 16. All 3 of those teams were arguably the best 3 teams in CUSA during that span.

And your stud LB who was 1st team all-conference & Freshman POY in 2016 barely cracks the honorable mention category.Literally made my day!

This brings up a question.
Which is more prestigious ? The top QB in CUSA or the top offensive player in CUSA ?
GO MEAN GREEN
Well Mason should have been CUSA MVP. Stockstill was given that.

How did our chance of making the NCAA tournament go down after a win? Also how are we losing 7 games in Conference play?

I wonder if he interviewed for the Texas State job. He had success there and that's how he landed the Rice job. It is also his alma mater. Good luck to him. My dad coached his sons in youth basketball in San Marcos while he was there at Texas State.

I understand what you are saying. Fisher does a great job covering cowboys and gets alot of inside info because he has great relationships with many. Any body on twitter or that watches the pressers understands Vito doesn't and want have that same kind of relationships needed.
Thats what I'm saying. We need a beat writer (I don't care if its the DRC, DMN, NTD, etc..) that builds those relationships. Someone who will break news and be an advocate for what the players and coaches are trying to sell. Not someone who asks passive aggressive questions because he thinks he has a cool story that only appeals to a handful of people.
I spoke with Malik Dilonga once about Vito's article on his dad. Malik was upset that Vito portrayed the story to be that Malik being on the UNT Football team helped his dad learn what the game football is, when in reality, his dad has always known about football.

He did report twice that it is unlikely Seth is a gonner. Should he have just sent a tweet out saying I told you so?
I never understand what y'all want from him.
I will say I want him to be what Mike Fisher is to the Cowboys. They guy who has the news first, isnt a passive aggressive questioner at press conferences, and is willing to say this is how it is.

All those reporters with twitter fingers were correct about Seth leaving right?
I mean none of them had a check mark next to their name. I know Vito doesnt, but he writes for the local paper that gives the most coverage to UNT. I would expect they would know or have a way in. "Sources" from a random "reporter" are just lingo for someone taking a chance. Vito has been covering this team for more than 15 years. I would expect he would have more insight than a guy who needs to cover 130 FBS teams and more in CFB.

Maybe Vito knew and it took him this long to write the article.
There's a cool thing these days called twitter. All the writers are using it. At least the good ones are.

Is anyone else alarmed that our own local beat writer was not the one who broke the news? How does a national reporter like Brett McMurphy get the details before @Brett Vito or anyone else from the DFW market? We deserve access to material first before the national media tells us.

Graham and Filani = I could see them going to a P5 as a package deal. Even though some on this board are down on GH as an OC he is still highly thought of in the coaching world. He will be a G5 head coach in 3 to 4 years. So Mean Green Nation don't burn Bridges
Yellock = He is a Carolina guy and with virtually every team in Carolinas having opening i could see him jumping at one of them.
Biagi= He loves North Texas the most out of any coach I have seen. But I could see him parlaying the punt heard around the world to a P5 gig. He wants to be a head coach one day.
Choice= He might be a hot commodity
With seth staying i think Langston, Mainord, Reff and Koonz are locks to stay.
Do you like Mainord to be OC?
