I didn't see anyone that looked like Bryce English walking around in a boot on the sideline or amongst the group of players while they warmed up.

Pearson looked okay, but not terribly threatening. All of the QB's today looked pretty much okay today. Only three Fine, Person and Manvel got reps today.

Amongst the RB's today it was the DeAndre Torry show.  The guy can move......really move. On one of his runs his "stop-start" was something to see. And I didn't see him brought down with an arm tackle. He's too low to the ground (5'7" X 185).

The player working his tail off today to get playing time this fall was Quinetin  Jackson (#13).  The guy was making some very impressive catches......although some ended up being out of bounds.

Jackson had an impressive TD catch vs Lamar and then played sparingly after that. Will be interesting if he/Rutherford can step up into that role Smiley player or if Shorter/White fill that role sooner

Either way, I want to see the best 5 on that line.  Anthony has been reported to have potential and Parish has "the build" but is still very light.

I liked Anthony out of HS and he was hurt his first year so he had limited time this time last year. By  I feel like he may have been viewed as a boom or bust guy, with the potential hope his younger brother would sign with UNT( his brother signed with OSU in February).

Parish needed and needs to put on weight, and vastly improve his technique. He had good foot movement but the kid was and is still likely growing into his body. The last time I saw him, he could still put on a solid amount of weight and be fine.

Its time for Chandler to hopefully step up and I’ll give last years class of OL another year, but they need to be pushing and playing this time next spring

This might be a blessing in disguise. It would be great to see a lot of NFL scouts at Apogee. Maybe they can get a look at some other players. Where will his pro day be held?

It maybe but it was a big chance for him to put on a show for all 32 teams and not a limited # of teams that will be likely at the UNT pro-day. A lot of pressure on these to impress in their 1 and potentially only chance in front of scouts.

Doctors advised Jeff wait until his Pro-Day to do the drills, so it looks like he is done for now other than meeting with teams/media.

Big blow to him potentially. Was a chance to have all 32 teams scouts, GMs see him and turn some heads. But let’s hope this was the plan all along for him to go and get a good/improving medical review.

This is getting very annoying. It seems to me that if they are going to raise ticket prices, they might want to avoid annoying their fans/alumni who want to watch a few practices.

The spring practices should be Monday, Wednesday, Friday in the morning.. but with all the rain recently they have been practicing inside Apogee.

You may try calling the football office directly to find out times or even tweet at WB. Yes I know it’s a hassle but reinforcing fans being interested will hopefully force the staff to put out something for practice times.

Looks like only 29 RBs bench pressed for a total of 500 reps.

    500/29= 17.2 reps...15 reps = below average

He tied for 15th with 5 other guys so even his place is technically below average.

Just to be clear, I'm rooting like heck for Jeff. Just pointing out he didn't exactly have a good day. Especially, when you consider he's not a speed back.

Wilson did more than the OU 1st round projected Tackle Orlando Brown.

The bench press isn’t an huge for thing for RB, but it’s encouraging to see Jeff in the middle of the class.

Also, I’m going to guess that the NFL also includes Fullbacks into the RB group and that is there 1 or 2 FBs (i would assume) so it should improve Wilson’s average as well.

I don't think so.  The punter is deliberately rolling away from the pressure instead of letting the pressure blow straight at him.  If anything, I would say there are less punt blocks with the rugby style.

Yep, it also allows for teams to get the Punter the ability to kick to 1 side of the field better since they are rolling away and we saw with Keena him roll out and keep it and get a 1st down vs Marshall I believe

Didn't he play opposite Lawrence last year?  Why would he have to contend with him?

Both played in the slot, with Smith and Chumley playing in the slot as well. I would assume with Wilson gone, and the leaky OL play we have seen it will lead to smith/Chumley staying in to block.  LAwrrence, Darden, Brewer/TEs will be getting a large chunk of the slot Reps.

Unless Wilson runs a 4.4 or better he doesn't have a chance playing at the next level.  If only he had been at Texas Tech for example he would be a shoo in if he runs 4.6.

Does that really makes sense to you?

Never said he didn’t have a chance.. what I have said is that if he runs a 4.6 at 215 lbs that will not be something that makes teams go back and review his tape if they haven’t watched him.

Playing at UNT in CUSA, we are lucky to have 1 or 2 NFL scouts at a normal game.. Which does not allow for Wilson to have many people see him. His injury history as well is a huge Red Flag (because of the knee injuries and shoulder problems as well) because he hasn’t been able to handle the full load.

Smaller school has nothing to do with evaluations at this level.

It totally does.. it’s the level of competition and his injury history vs LBs who are 225 pounds compared to NFL LBs who are 240 .. plus him being a smaller school guy he needs an eye popping numbers in terms of 40, etc..

Wilson should stand out in interviews, the question is how many does he get

Oh he can crack 4.6 without doubt. But this is a pressurized situation and he'll be jittery/nervous so he won't have as much pep in his step. But at best he is still a high 4.5 guy. He never really displayed absolute breakaway speed during games. He was always needing to weave in and out or angle outrun people to the pylon. In other words, 4.4/low 4.5 corners were often times gaining ground on him in the open field

these different training facilities that prospects go to work with them on what to expect and train only in the combine drills. Let’s hope they have cut his 40 time. I would hate and worry he gets injured while running.

Easy answer, all the reps.  They're your best return guys.

True and we saw the return game improve big time when Darden and Johnson took over for Jenkins and the crew, but I don’t want to risk 2 of the more explosive guys on this offense to injury.

I would much rather see someone like Wyche, Hair-Griffin, etc on KR/PR if they can hold their own. Allowing Johnson and Darden to focus primarily on offense allowing this offense to hopefully go even faster.

Doesn't worry me a ton, I'd be good with Murray, Mose, Mose/Barr, Preston, Parish/Anthony.  If they think moving Preston inside helps with run game I'm down to let a young guy go at RT.  If we're running the ball well, then OL pass sets aren't as big of an issue as if we aren't running ball well and all we can do is pass.

I feel like Moses could step in at RG quicker than one of the young OTs playing RT..

Evan Johnson had some solid kick returns as well. We're in good hands with those two

Question is how much time do they get back there?

Johnson will likely play an increased role on offense with Wilson leaving.. and Darden should be another year better, but he will have to contend with Brewer and Lawerence now.

    It wasn't UNT's decision?

    GMG

It was UNT decision. People have tweeted in the past about how is it that the Dallas Stars could not have a UNT night, and the response was along the lines of UNT never contacted us or never got back to us.. The teams love these things because it’s easy and cheap to get a hat, etc made when fans are buying a ticket for $20

it is....  Just sayin"  I am hoping, and can actually see the results, the WB and this administration are moving the needle to on-board a stronger fan base....  We just need to get the students to buy in long term.....

Students did, when they voted to increase the fee... now it’s on Alumni to increase the donations and complete the IPF donations.
