  1. Yeah it’s no time to celebrate. We haven’t played well enough like UNT to get an NIT bid. So we have to win tomorrow The NIT will have some excellent teams including UNT and hopefully UAB. Many schools that could easily be 10-12 seeds
  2. Greatness doesn’t happen every game UNT was down 17 in the second half against Tech in Ruston. Perry hits a 3 with 6 seconds left to take the first lead in the second half and win. You can’t expect that every game especially without prolific scorer
  3. Good Game UNT. I think McCasland is the best coach in CUSA hands down. He gets more out of his players than any other coach in CUSA. UNT is not the most talented but coaching, gritty play and heart makes up for it. UNT had to win the CUSA tournament after the loss to UTEP anyway so Go Win the NIT!!!
  4. Why would North Texas want to merge with the Sunbelt when they left the Sunbelt and moved up to CUSA? Tech has turned down the Sunbelt 3 times over the years. Initially when the Sunbelt formed in 1996. ULL has been mad over that ever since. Does ULL have some decent programs? Yes Baseball and Softball. Tech is the flagship school in the University of Louisiana system by far the best academics, most selective, highest test scores, highest grad and retention rate, Highest Salary among graduates and the only Tier 1 school in the UL system. ULL has more students Yes; they are considerably more people in Acadiana than North Louisiana. BTW CUSA academics are superior to Sunbelt too. 8 tier 1 schools vs 2 tier 1 schools. That makes a difference among the presidents and Tech’s president is the chair of CUSA Board of Directors. I haven’t seen any rational pro merger posts yet that would change the mind of those in charge
  5. I took it with my Iphone panoramic mode. That was a great game!
  6. Excellent Post. This post is spot on for Tech fans also. Tech has been to CUSA championship 2 out 4 years in CUSA, and in 2014 Tech was in driver seat to host but lost final game to upstart ODU in OT after leading the whole game
  7. No doubt DFW is whole heck of a lot better than any town in Louisiana and Mississippi. But here is what you are missing and is most important. NFL. Pitch six flags or rangers games to a recruit and the NFL will win every time. Tech and Southern Miss track record of sending players to the NFL is what gives Tech and USM the upper hand in recruiting. Tech has 13 former players on current NFL roster. Those aren't SEC type numbers but the best in the CUSA by 3 players. This year draft Tech is projected to have 3 players in the G5 top 20 players selected. No other G5 had more than 1 http://insider.espn.go.com/college-football/insider/story/_/id/13985937/scouts-inc-drafts-20-best-players-the-power-5 It's just not temporary either, Tech has 3 former players that are part of the Pro football hall of fame. Tech has also been ranked in the top 25 on several occasions. Last time was 2012, 5 weeks in the Top 25 and highest rank 19. Regarding attendance, we have already had 2 real sell outs this year around 27k, so things are looking up. But 50 degrees and steady rain kept all the out towners at home plus most of the older folks. The rice game last Friday in Houston, there were more Tech fans than Rice fans around 5k. Good luck the rest of the way
  8. 50 degrees and steady rain kept most of the out towners home,(Ruston is only 20,000), which for Tech is most their crowd. DFW and Houston are big alumni bases for Tech. Tech probably had 5k in Houston last week outnumbering Rice fans. Tech has already had 1 sell-out another close one this year, which is a true 27k for both games.
  9. I live in the DFW area and Tech has pretty good rep in football circles and high school coaches, with the most current players in the NFL from CUSA. Tech has been in 1-A since 1988 with wins over several P-5 programs including Alabama (when they were SEC champs and went to the Sugar Bowl). Tech played in the WAC with Boise. And not to down UNT but there is a stigma with being a former Sunbelt school. I really like UNT and Denton, but Tech is 1 of 3 tier one universities in CUSA (Rice and Charlotte). Apogee is nice, UNT basketball arena not so much. Yes, size and facilities, UNT wins out over Tech but that would be it IMO.
  10. Sonny did the same with Tech. Houston job came open when Sumlin left and he used that for leverage knowing there was no way he was leaving Tech for Houston
