    Edwards has been PHENOMENAL.
Not many teams are winning games in the American missing their 2nd and 3rd best offensive players. Especially with a roster as defensive-minded as ours.
There was NOBODY else on the court for us last night that can create their own shot. Nobody. And yet Edwards kept us in the game.
Buggs can hit open 3’s. So can Scott, who can also hit a runner when he isn’t being guarded. Once or twice a game, Allen can back his man down and get a bucket. Walker might be good for a putback or two.
But only Edwards, Rubin and CJ can put the ball on the floor and get to the basket. If you are missing two of those guys, it is not going to be good in the American.
This season is still a fun ride. We can make noise in the conference tournament. And considering the staff/player turnover & injuries, a deep NIT or CBI run is still a successful season.

This is exactly my goal too.

You are right. Injuries are definitely part of the game and we can't expect this to be the same team missing 2 starters.

Actual court mops have been ordered btw. Really annoying it took a player getting injured to do so.

I saw they had some out there tonight. I emailed the department to ask how I would go about donating some. Are you saying they ordered branded ones?

Starting to come to terms that we won't be seeing any postseason basketball if we're missing any combo of two starters for more significant time. Top four seed for a double bye in the tourney is going to be tough to acquire.

Love Jason, but it appears he doesn't have the closer gene that we desperately need from someone on this team. The past two games have really made me miss TP.

And I don't get how we shoot shitty from the FT line in our gym. It should be the team unfamiliar with the environment that should struggle.

He may not, but when you score 30 points, I feel like it shouldn't always be on one guy.

I will say, he drew the foul in the SMU game to pretty much seal that one. It's tough to rely on one guy night in and night out. We got spoiled by TP.

The produced game day experience has felt frozen in time for multiple decades now. Really thought Wren was gonna invest in it, then had hopes for the next regime and now I just hope we finally get mops. I still remember the high of the RV memorial replay monitor coming in after the UTA loss and can’t wait to feel that way about some piddly little push brooms.

It warms my heart to get so many on board with this. I am starting communication with the AD to see how I can donate these. I am assuming the logo needs to be a certain one. I have been looking at gamemop.com.

The kids and parents were awesome and nice. It was just too many people behind a concession stand all over the place and kids asking questions about how to use the register.

This is what happens at High school football games too. I have mixed feelings on it. I like the support, but it does make us feel a little bit on the little league side.

I can't tell if this talk of Buggs is a joke or ignorance. even stretching it back to his 0-fer against Boise, he's 19-41, or about 46% from three (and a kinda funny 1-5 from 2). that's fantastic.

his 16-23 before the FAU miss isn't sustainable and this is why we use percentages.

This was kinda my point. I have no idea why Buggs has one bad game and people pile on him and he is in a slump.

Our fanbase is weird. What is this? Austin?

    What we need:

    1. A healthy Noland.
    2. A healthy Allen.
    3. A more aggressive Sissoko around the rim.
    4. Moore and Cotton crash course prepared to play.
    5. Forget his name right now, but the JUCO from Kilgore to do something. These wasted scholarships are ridiculous.
    5.  Play our defense the entire game.
    6. Buggs to rediscover his stroke.
    7.  A healthy Noland and Allen.

I agree with all of these but this one. Rediscover? Before this game he hit 8 straight 3s. If that's what you mean, I am sorry. It just makes it sound like he hasn't shot well in a while.

Also, 8. A healthy RUBIN JONES!

The way this conversation is going makes me really happy bc our expectation every year is making and progressing through the tournament.  That’s still really hard to to and this UAB team has been climbing this climb with us neck and neck the whole way.  It’s ok to lose a game to a good team.  It’s better to win them and we shouldn’t lost to many.  I just don’t want our fanbase to lose hope bc we are a damn good team.

It's an interesting perspective. After this game, I told @Big Z I am pretty much in a "Whatever" mood. Going to enjoy watching some entertaining games, but I don't expect this year to give me much now.

With that said, 2 losses do make you reflect on what you really do expect out of this team.

Were we going to win a national championship? No.

AAC championship? This was my expectation.

B2B NIT? This is now my goal.

  9. Obviously we are all fans in a traditional sense. We have accounts on here and follow the program and hope they win. Let's not get into a D measuring contest with level of Fandom. It's silly and doesn't provide any value to the board.

The ton of loyal, active, loud mouth fans did NOT attend the tournament in Charleston, SC ,nor the Barclays, nor Charlotte, NC nor FAU/Boca Raton. I was there unless the ton of loyal, active, loud mouth fans all close to wear colors of the away team to blend in. Or maybe they were wearing Black in a show of support for Black uniforms.

Please stop - you are embarrassing yourself. Or better yet, show receipts or be known to me as the biggest liar of them all. Surely you are one of the “ton”. Oh wait, did you mean weight when you said “ton”. Nevermind, nowhere near enough in attendance to come remotely close. Receipts or back to your shuffleboard game.

I can't tell if you are a UNT fan or not.

As a born and raised Dallasite who spent most of his childhood in the area of Midway and Walnut Hill, I can proudly tell you nobody in Dallas gives a damn about SMU.

Nice to hear about another Love Field kid on here. I grew up near Walnut Hill and Marsh area.

Anyone heard what kind of crowd they are expecting for the game tomorrow night? It's on ESPNU and a late tip at 8pm. Haven't seen anything from the university promoting it, just ones for the Memphis game in Feb.  Hope the students come back out and we can get 4-5k. GMG

To me this doesn't make sense. Why go all out and promote the SMU game to see the potential of the Pit just to go back to the standard???

I think leading leading FAU for 95% of the game, in their arena, losing by 3, without one of our starters, shows we are closer to them than 27 to 69.

I think so too. I don't think NET factors in all of these things, otherwise we would be like 40s.

Yeah, not much substance to this.

Mac is winning. As he does. He's never lost. Ever.

Ross is doing what he does. He needs his arsenal back and if he has to personally, himself, to light a fire in Sissoko then that's what needs to be done. We are Rubin being healthy + Sissoko playing NIT form to be really, really good.

I was curious so I went back and looked. It is crazy how true this is. He has never had a losing season in his whole coaching career.

To me, if he doesn't want to stay in Lubbock, I bet he could easily get to the NBA one day.

There are so many successful mid-major programs that have long time successful coaches in place for a decade+. Those are case examinations as to what they have done, what kind of support they have, and what is and how has their compensation increased over those years. If we want to be a consistent program for running years, we have to figure out how to keep those in place creating this success. Grant couldn't or didn't want to be our Mark Few. We have to figure out how to get Ross to be our Mark Few, or the like.

This is exactly my take. Mac was a West Texas guy at heart. Baylor or Tech were really the only two jobs I think he would have left for.

Hodge on the other hand loves DFW. He has more ties here than anywhere I think and he feels it is home. I could see him being a long time coach that could build this program into a Villanova type.

As someone who lives recently on the west coast and now catches a lot of MWC sports... they are actually legit. Legitimate basketball, with huge crowds pretty much across the board. It's a pretty good leauge.

Caveat to this is that their basketball programs have garnered a lot support, individually. Every road game is a difficult journey. That holds weight.

I mean....they did make the National Title game last year.

I was referring to what someone said last year about them as a whole. They may be good regular season, but getting bids and not doing much in the tournament, maybe other conferences should take 1 or 2 of those spots. All I am saying.
