I never said anything about sheltering them from it, but there probably is an age or level of maturity that a child needs to have to be exposed to “adult” things.  I’d just try get across to them that it’s not in line with my values and hopefully teach them to have more respect for themselves and others.  I just think saying “the world is the way it is” is a way to lower the bar on acceptable social norms.

That's fair. To each their own and I mean no animosity. Just don't think it's that big of a deal.

Yeah teaching your kids to have class and be respectful is way overrated.  I tend to want to teach my kids to do the right thing, not conform to what the world is doing.

Also don't wanna get too philosophical, but teaching your kids to do the right thing and conforming to the world aren't always mutually exclusive.

And maybe sheltering from a situation where they'd be faced with making that decision isn't the best way to think? Teaching your children to be good people and sheltering them from the world seem like conflicted ideals in my mind. I'm old. I don't feel the need to do the chant. But it's funny and has personality. I don't think it's quite the scourge some would have you think.

I know this will fall on deaf ears, but why is it acceptable to yell mother fu$!# in public at a college football game but nowhere else?

Something about it being a bloodsport for our entertainment or something, I'm not sure. I don't disagree with the time and place argument, but it's sorta silly if we zoom out and remember the whole culture surrounding football (or brutal contact sports in general). I played ice hockey all my life and I can tell you that I never had a coach that wasn't cursing like a sailor, and that's a sport known for its class and respect despite that fact.

This is great news for Coach Bill Clark and the entire UAB community.  With this increase and their new facilities, UAB has now moved themselves into the financial area where they will certainly be given strong consideration for AAC membership.

If the Alabama BOR didn't want this program to exist as a CUSA program, they're DEFINITELY not going to let AAC come calling.

I know this is a college newspaper, but you would think they would know that NT loses millions of dollars on football versus they make money.

College football players already get room and board plus a generous stipend to play ball.

This is talking about the NCAA playing players, not the school. It's right there in the title...

I guessing people that moderate don't appreciate my online free stream idea? (question about my deleted reply from earlier)

Well sites definitely get taken down or sent DMCA notices for hosting links like that, so I get it. I would say you could make the offer and then let people know via DM, but I'm not a mod.
