Why is kidsy throwing up the horns?

The SFA vs Dallas Baptist..(No I didn't know DBH was in the Southland) game was on TV this weekend.
Both D Tackles for DBH go 285 lbs, one from Bedford TX, the other from Spring TX. One of them, forgot which one, got his 5th sack on the year in the beginning of the game.
Both D Tackles for SFA go 272 lbs from Daingerfield TX, the other 292 lbs. from Irving TX.
The game was played at DBH and it is easy to make the wrong assumption at first glance that DBH plays in a CVS Pharmacy parking lot. I'm not kidding.

Houston Baptist. Dallas Baptist doesn't field a football team...
but yes, all the rest is factual and correct

looking like attendance might not be great this weekend...
some free tickets just sitting out there unclaimed, and two of my own are still not giving me an answer - I'm thinking about calling up plan D. It's been hard to persuade others to join me for these last 4 games. rest assured, my seat will be occupied just like it has been for every home game since 2003

current spread is UNT -10 and O/U is 44. I'd take Southern Miss and the over, but UNT straight up
North Texas 24
Southern Miss 23
Our D stiffens in the red zone to force three field goals despite USM winning the statistics battle

My extreme solution to this problem is to say F* Texas. We're still a laughing stock outside of the metroplex. Go to areas that don't see the Tshirt OU & UT alums. Recruit everywhere but Texas. No kid will pick UNT over TCU, OU, UT, etc. Our stigma is too big for too long. It ain't happening. However, a kid that might go to NIU, La Tech, WKU, Ball St., Marshall, Miami Ohio, etc. this is where we need to focus. Lots of kids want to leave home and play out of state. This should be our recruiting plan...

Southern Mississippi has only won two games as well: one against Alcorn State, the other against move-up Appalachian State...and, that one by just one point.
While I still believe we win this game on Saturday, don't discount this Southern Miss team. They are an improved team from the one we've witnessed over the previous two seasons. Two of their losses are to #1 Mississippi State and #7 Alabama. Their other two loses are to Rice and MUTS, probably top 4 CUSA teams. That Rice game was a 4 point affair towards the end of the 3Q, and the 6 point loss to MUTS on the road is evidence that this USM team is better than the Golden Eagle squad we encountered on our road trip to Hattiesburg last season. Lastly, Southern Miss is coming of an open week where they've had additional time to game plan for the Mean Green.
Unlike the previous six outings that were lopsided one way or another, I expect this contest to be a dog fight decided in the fourth quarter with the good guys showing their mettle and coming out on top
If we can't beat Southern Miss, then Katy bar the door...we will be deluged for the rest of the season...and, by pretty mediocre competition, unfortunately.Agreed - huge game this week for sure with three Texas road trips and two home games against the F_U twins remaining

UTEP might be better than Indiana if they were to play on a neutral field. The only difference is match-ups. Indiana's strength appears to be the passing game, while UTEP might have one of the best ground attacks in the conference. UTEP provided the blue print for Arkansas's ground domination vs. tech
As I typed this, I have to agree with you that if we win one and lose the other, it's probably Indiana - L and UTEP - W, based on our strengths. Perhaps this is a "nothing to see here, carry on" post.
I think we can win both games, though. There are three clear cut tiers for our remaining schedule:
1) W's: Nicholls State, Southern Miss, Florida Atlantic, FIU - the four weakest teams left on our schedule and all four at home
2) toss-ups : Indiana, UTEP, UAB - as a B1G team they'll have better depth than everyone on our schedule but Texas and throw the ball well; UTEP is much improved, have a very solid ground game (don't they remind you of us 2013 a little bit?), and always tougher to beat in the Sun Bowl; UAB is also much improved and roughly in the same group as these other two. UAB lacks the depth of UTEP and Indiana, though and will have no home field advantage in that cavernous stadium of theirs. We really need to win one of these three games and not lose any of those first four.
3) TD+ underdogs: Rice and UTSA - two blossoming "rivalry" games on the road. We'll probably open up as +7 or more when these games roll around (which means we're a TD or more underdog for those who are unfamiliar with betting lingo). Luckily there are no 100% guarantee losses on the schedule, although there are a few I'm not going to be holding my breath for.

When did WAC disappear? I'm so out of the loop.
2012 was the last season for the WAC in football. Utah State won the conference and was ranked in the top 20. In the summer of 2013, Utah State and San Jose State left for the Mountain West; Louisiana Tech and UTSA joined Conference USA; and Texas State joined the Sun Belt; New Mexico State and Idaho each played an independent schedule last season before joining the Sun Belt for football-only in 2014.

didn't seem to work for them last night in that 41-7 shellacking they took at the hands of BYU
maybe Strong already put a stop to it. his team couldn't stop anything else

yeah, Mac and Skladany didn't look happy about that. It would've been nice to finish off the shutout, but if you had told me yesterday that we were going to win 43-6 I would have gladly accepted it.

any attempts by SMU to continue are futile...we are literally flogging a dead horse

You do realize that we have never had a 7 home game season and will have to buy an FCS opponent next year to get to 5 home games, correct?
I'd love to have 7, right now I'd settle for a minimum of 6. A hard minimum.
Unfortunately, I do know these things. I was merely stating that I would prefer for us to make 7-8 home games the standard. The current 2015 schedule with only 4 home games is one of the many reasons that I believe it is time for a change at the top. RV did some great things, but if he truly cares about North Texas reaching the next level then he needs to step down and hand the torch off to a new, outside hire. However, he selfishly hangs on because he wants all the credit.
6 should always be the hard minimum. Anything less is unacceptable. SMU in Dallas is not a home game

To start off, most who know me know that I prefer 7-8 home games per year and that I'm also heavily in favor of building an indoor practice facility. The latter is a little random for this conversation, but it IS one of the things I've been super consistent about. ...that and getting rid of some of our long time associate AD's, etc, but I digress...
1) I'm cool with scheduling an FCS buy game every year in order for us to get a minimum of 7 home games per year. I remember when we announced Nicholls State (and Texas Southern, etc) and it seemed like 60-80% of posts were people whining about the quality of opponent. THIS is one of the reasons we play P5 schools for paychecks...because there's a chance we might win and draw in the casual fan. All of the casual fans, and most of the posters on this board, from the aforementioned generic sample, are not interested in an easy Green win. Since we aren't Nebraska and won't sell out Apogee no matter who the opponent is, I support playing these types of games - primarily for the exposure.
2) Ben, I hear you when you talk about alums in a 2.5 hour perimeter but I want to give you real numbers to show you how high you've set that bar at 25k donating 100. There is a much larger school in the state, that has a much larger fan base and they only have 15K fans that donate $100 or more. When setting goals, remember to set the bar at a reasonable, attainable level and then work your way up
Lastly, I've thought Coach Mac should use his past connections to get us a series with Iowa State. That would be a P5 school that travels a thousand fans. They also have a history of playing home-and-home with G5 schools, and they do some serious recruiting in the DFW area. As an additional tidbit, I believe they are the only Big 12 school that North Texas has never played. I reserve my right to be wrong on that last statement, though.

fun fact: last night's attendance of 93,201 was the lowest all-time for the whorns since they expanded their stadium. UT's fans are trash and don't yell on offense OR defense

You can't put Dajon in...he might throw interceptions. Oh, wait...
Actually I think you never saw Dajon because, if he come in and moved the chains, Mac wouldn't be able to keep him out of there going forward without inciting a riot in the fan base. His ego wouldn't allow it.
I honestly believe that if Mac were the A&M coach in 2012, he would have left Johnny Manziel on the bench for this very reason. Now, I'm not saying Dajon is Johnny, but as long as Mac doesn't get over himself, we'll never even get a chance to find out

2. Baylor's Mclane Stadium looks like sh*t. One of those times when the renderings were waaaaaaayyyyyyy better than the finished product. What's with those anemic columns??
This. couldn't agree more, Chris.
They way over-spent at $266 million

My adopted player with the heads up awareness to cover that ball and score the year's first TD. Way to go #13!

Texas enters the game ranked No. 24 in the nation in the coaches preseason poll. The Mean Green has beaten one top-25 team in school history, when it knocked off San Diego State, then ranked No. 20, on Nov. 2, 1974, 14-9 at Fouts Field.
time to make it two. What better time than the 40th anniversary year of the previous conquest?
GMG. Is it game time yet?

To give you an idea of just how accurate they are, for the last 19 seasons, we have gone 76-143, and their predictions for these 19 seasons were 80 - 139. You just don't get anymore accurate.
77-142 would be a little more accurate...
80-139 would also be more accurate

this bugged me when the announcers were saying it today, and to be perfectly honest, it really shocks me that you repeated the inaccurate line.
DW had TWO plays today - a 20 yard run, followed by a 4 yard pass to Kidsy.
