He would be incredible in the scoring firepower off the bench as a 6th man. He probably doesn’t want that role though, which I also understand.

It makes no sense for a point producer, or top rebounder etc to come off the bench.  Why limit their minutes or allow the opponent to get early leads because our best players are sitting?  You will never convince me Tylor Perry was better off the bench only available 35 minutes instead of 40.  He's not starting on the bench at KSU.

Sissoko was a major disappointment this year. He graduated so I wouldn't mind if he moved on. A. Scott isn't a lead dog. I hoped he would become that this year but he's a great role player. Have to bring in a couple of bigs that can rebound and protect the rim. As someone else mentioned, nobody really knows who will stay or go these days. I trust Hodge and staff to bring in the right pieces. We HAVE to get better at running out of bounds plays and end of half/game sets. That's where Forte is supposed to help as an offensive coach.

Allen should have been starting all year.

Not sure about him but I was and the AAC refs are absolutely atrocious.  They were basically trying to punish us for leaving this crappy conference.  Good riddance, as we now move to conference with decent referees.

I discussed it in the Realignment Forum, but I am on Team MWC. We need to keep informed of the development between the 2-Pac and MWC. If we can join in on a new Pac 12-18 in a package deal with UTSA, Rice, and UTEP, I think that'd be ideal. The divisions could be set up like:

    Pacific Conference
    Boise State
    Fresno State
    Hawai'i
    Nevada
    Oregon State
    San Diego State
    San Jose State
    UNLV
    Washington State

    Mountain Conference
    Air Force
    Colorado State
    New Mexico
    North Texas
    Rice
    Utah State
    UTEP
    UTSA
    Wyoming

This would put a majority of our opponents only one time zone behind us at worst. Not sure who gets the boot if the MWC/2-Pac merger doesn't want all the MWC teams. Hawai'i/SJSU? Wyoming?

This would be a strong football conference with lots of known brands. With it projected to get 6-7 bids in the NCAA Tournament, the MWC is also a more respected basketball conference, even if a lot of teams burn out in the first round.

The American is a lot more vulnerable to continue getting poached from. Memphis, Tulane, and USF will continue to get looked at if the ACC or Big XII falls apart. This MWC/2-Pac merger would be the major confernece in the Western United States and in my opinion would be safer from poaching.

Additionally, while the American is a solid basketball league, I don't think there's generally much pride in being a part of it. Similar to CUSA, we are a random assortment of schools, I don't see any big rivalries in this conference.

The American is losing it's biggest ambassador in Commissioner Mike Aresco.  His replacement will be critical in keeping the momentum alive and moving forward or not.  Also, when the ACC prisoners start leaving that could be a turning point for the AAC in future defections or a merger.

Your proposal with the MWC/PAC has merit.  The problem will be the PAC-2 won't want all those schools to split their pie with.

We are already struggling to compete in this conference as it is even with SMU leaving.  I am not sure that heading west would be a good move.  I do agree with you that we will probably lose some teams to ACC.  The key seems to be Florida State and what they do.  After being undefeated and not going to playoffs the writing is on the wall.

I don't think we are struggling in the AAC at all.  Football could have won vs Memphis and Tulane.  Very close games for a first year HC facing a new, tougher conference than CUSA.  Men's basketball was 10-8 and in the upper part of the conference with again several close losses to the top seeds. Women's basketball finished 2nd after being picked second to last.  Softball started conference with a 3-game sweep of 22-2 ECU.

As for going West to the MWC/PAC I wouldn't be against it, especially if the AAC loses Memphis, USF and Tulane.  Brands matter.

I was also told that NIL was established to compensate athletes for the use of their NAME, IMAGE, and LIKENESS.

But somehow lots of players are getting big $$$'s without having any of these attributes being marketed.  I highly doubt the majority of OL's with 2k followers on social media are being featured in advertisements or have a demand in the 1000's for shirts with their name on it.

It reeks of the money laundering activities that are done through the sale of trivial paintings, etc. for huge $'s.
It's essentially become equivalent of the "jobs" that were given to athletes back in the 80s, e.g. making $100k as a car salesman during the summer break.  Of course, we all knew this was going to happen.

Exactly.  Has anyone ever seen any current college athlete marketing anything??  In print, video, anything?  I can't recall a single one.  Yet thousands are getting NIL.  For doing what....playing for a specific school.  That's it.

The basic system is UNT and Texas State are simultaneously wanting someone to hold Texas and Texas A&M in check while not making UT and TAMU so mad that they leave.

There has always been a disparity between college sports programs as far back as college sports itself.  Only the labeling has changed over time.  Big school/small school....1-A/1-AA....FBS/FCS....P5/G5, whatever.

I don't think that Texas and A$M could actually completely leave and split away.  They would still need to play the smaller programs to fill their tournaments and pre-season OOC games on their various schedules.

What was the reaction from both fan bases?  I’m curious.

NT led the majority of the game.  NT was up 14-7 at half, and 21-14 end of 3rd quarter.  Texas scored a TD with 3:30 remaining in the game, went for 2 and missed it, NT up 21-20.  NT added a FG with 1:30 remaining to make it 24-20.   uT had to have a TD to win.

This last TD? happened with only 45 seconds left in the game.   Lots of Booing from the 10K NT fans.  uT fans were mostly very cordial and consoling after the game...complimenting us on our game and knew they should have lost and were given a bogus win.

NT only had 55 plays on Offense (23 yds rushing, 419 passing).  Texas had 92 plays (71 rushes for 312 yds, 169 passing).
