The P5 transfers are all “depth” guys at their previous stops, so to assume they’re going to come here & be amazing players is hopeful at best. There’s a long track record of guys who barely contribute after transferring here.
Fingers crossed these guys are good in Green!
So here we go. Coach Leftwich, show us what you got!

Farrar: I don't know. He is not listed in the participation report, and there are no notes regarding him during the 2023 season. Was he injured?
Jackson: Is in the portal.
Johnson: Is in the portal.
Jackson and Johnson.....oh my!
Farrar. That's what I've been wondering. I believe he participated in the spring game.

Just as long as this young man was on Coach Cobbs wish list.
BTW does anyone know the health status of our current RB's? Specifically, Farrar, Jackson and Johnson.

Lest anyone has forgotten, Cutter is the offspring of this guy.....
Spencer Leftwich - Football Coach - UTEP Miners
"He was also the O-Line coach at New Mexico State (1992-93) before enjoying two separate stints at both North Texas and Tulsa from 1994-2010. Leftwich was the offensive line coach for the Mean Green from 1994-2002 and 2007-09. In his first term at UNT, he had at least one lineman earn all-conference recognition in eight of nine years. In 2007, North Texas established school records for total offense and passing offense. In 2009, North Texas had the no. 28 rushing attack in the NCAA with 185.3 yards per game while bettering the school standard for total yards (4,904). The Mean Green also ended the campaign ranked no. 10 in sacks allowed with one per outing"
Potentially, Morris has scored a big win with this hire.

Clothing, Tailgating gear, etc. Post what you find new here.
I like this shirt, but wish the flag had the star instead of the eagle.
I would prefer the NT-Star.
Also, when they do a hat with the flag, I would prefer that it be waving like the Texas Rangers flag.

As I was watching the Army/Navy game yesterday, I wondered about how the NIL is effecting them.....if at all.?

Welp, so much for my assessment process. Looks like NIL is bringing out the "it's all about (or mostly about) me" in players. You know, I wonder how, in the long run, this is going to affect a QB's relationship with the guys (especially the marginal NIL ones) that are supposed to protect them. Why should they bust their asses to get better and protect a player that will leave for better pay and screw loyalty.
Someone mentioned in another thread that Morris needs a little time to get players in that will buy into the culture that he is establishing.
Welp, Rogers would be his first "oops" on that one.
Sadly culture is going to take on a completely different meaning hence forward.

I think this was his first injury-free season.

I don't know what anyone else is doing. I know the one at A-State does one year deals. They don't commit money they don't have. They also pay after the fact. You have to meet your various obligations during the month or you are likely to have your pay held until you make the required appearances and social media posts. I highly doubt that is the practice everywhere but one of the organizers at A-State was COO of a very large bank and did a stint at the Federal Reserve.
My expectation is we will eventually see a collective go to bankruptcy or just flat fold because it lacks any assets to protect in bankruptcy court and some really unhappy players when the check bounces or never arrives.
I also expect some schools will have the embarrassment of discovering that the person they hired to run the collective is a film-flam man and has skimmed money off in various schemes.
Again won't be pretty.Hmmm........SURELY North Texas wouldn't get itself into such a situation.....😎

The SEC and the Big 12 might pick off some of our players, but we don’t have to play in the SEC or the Big 12.
We play against schools like UTSA, UAB and Rice. We just have to beat these schools, who are also getting their roster picked apart by the P4, to have a successful season. And we can steal players from the Sun Belt, CUSA and Lone Star Conference, etc.
The game has changed, but it is still a game. We just have to win it.And one other thing, the transfer portal is getting all the attention, but we need to be playing Moneyball. Where are the undervalued assets?
If everyone else is zigging into the transfer portal, it might be smarter to zag into JUCO or high school recruits to find immediate impact players. At some point, the transfer portal has to become too picked over. This is Eric Morris’ job to figure out. He went 5-7 this year, which is unacceptable to me.
I expect this team to make a bowl game every year, compete for the conference championship most seasons and sometimes peak as a conference champion that cracks the Top 25.
I still believe that Eric Morris can accomplish this.Yep, we need to find the Landon Sides of DL's. LB's and OL's.

And he just got hurt again.
Which was what Shorter was always doing when he was here. I'm wondering if his lack of playing time at Auburn has to do with some sort of injury.

And what about the MGSF?

I was really pulling for NM. They have a great story going on out there.
PLUS they are not being fueled by soulless rich people ($MU) or bat shit crazy religious zealots (Liberty).

@Cr1028 is correct: This is all right up the same alley as coach speak.
"Coach speak" is prepared answers to anticipated questions. I am assuming that his comments were what the police call "excited utterances.", which are considered the most credible, and are exceptions to the "hear say" rule.

For one, he stated in the recent DRC Mean Green newsletter that "We have a lot of confidence heading into the off season. We understand how close we are."
Claiming words. That's a good start.

Decided to go back and look at Gebbia's tape and I like what I see.
He looks like a more accurate Jason Bean. Most of these highlight reels start with a 40yrd+ bomb. Interesting that his started with a 40+ yard QB draw.

Maybe drop Caponi and use that 400k to pay Rogers instead?
Oh gees, the off-season Drama King posts are starting a bit early this year.....😉

I’m gonna sleep on SMU when it comes to who we might lose Chandler Rogers to. Their QB is only a sophomore.
...so he'd have to work three times as hard to get a chance......with no guarantees.

Why in God's name would Chandler Rogers even think about moving on.....yet again? He is running an offense that made North Texas history. He is playing at a school that is in one of the largest media markets in the nation. Moving to another school and learning a new system would mean he would have to work twice as hard.....with no guarantees.
You'd have to be brain damaged or have a HUGE ego to make that kind of move.

North Texas has been in our official name since 1894 when we became a state college.
