  1. First of all, what a game. I can't tell you the times I was ready to just turn the radio off and give it up! Luckly my Topper's didn't have the same attitude. Heartbreaking loss for UNT and its fans, has to be. I was disappointed we couldn't get your broadcast up here. As you can imagine many fans want to see this last shot. So, I am hoping someone down there has recorded the game. I would be willing to pay to get a copy of the tape. Or, if someone has it and has video capturing capabilities on their computer and just want to send me some video clips, that would rock too. Anyone able to help ?
  2. If you can figure out our coach's substitution patterns.. you're better than most of us in Bowling Green. Hey Metro, I was talking lady topper ball. I know the men are going to have a tall order in front of them when they come down to Denton. We have a dog fight tonight against Denver here, then to have to go to UNT. Could be bad.
  3. Ok, I can't resist the need to correct your statement: WKU is one of the top overall women's programs in the nation. Let's consider some facts: #11 in All-Time Victories (UNT not in top 50) #32 in winning percentage (UNT not in top 50) 9 Sun Belt Conference Championships (no easy task playing against La Tech most of those years) 8 Sun Belt Conference Tournament Championships THREE NCAA Final Four appearances(1985, 1986, 1992 Runner up) 15 NCAA appearances, record 17-15. Being fairly new to the league, you probably were not aware.. but now you are
  4. oh wow, a UNT fan in Bowling Green.. WKU's spirit hasn't stolen your heart yet?
  5. Actually. A former MTSU professor of 40 years is dying of cancer. One of his dying requests is to have a sell out in the Murphey Center again. That is what brought out 11,800 fans. The next home game, senior night, they didn't even have 4K. It was a fluke. They did honor the man well though.
  6. Chris is indeed in Denver with the Nuggets. Before the draft, he had a workout for 4 teams at his hometown in N.C. He was not drafted, but was picked up quickly by the Nuggets. He has been cleared to play and will be working out and rehabing in Denver all summer. He had put some weight on, but is losing it. I think a lot us, Topper fans included don't really realize how bad of an injury he had. It's easy to say he was soft, lazy, etc.. but we really don't know what he went through. I am just glad he is getting a chance to prove himself.
  7. Was reading about a player here in Kentucky in my local paper. Brett Meredith, 5'10" prolific scorer. He has reached 2,000 points, holding 12 school records. He also has a 4.0 GPA and already has a 27 on his ACT. Here is a link to the article.. They mention UNT recruiting him. Thought you all might be interested. http://www.bgdailynews.com/cgi-bin/view.cg...20030214+sports
  8. GreenEggs, we just need to get you converted to a Hilltopper. I am sure I could get you some extra tickets for a game in Diddle. I agree, Bowling Green is a fantastic place to live. I would never live anywhere else. The snow isn't that bad, and while it can be boring sometimes, Nashville is one hour south, and Louisville is hour and a half north. BTW- we do have a National Champion football program here in Bowling Green. You just need to become a Hilltopper!
  9. Wasn't able to see or hear the game, I am out of town, but saw the score. Waiting on the box score. Sounds like the Toppers were never in threat. Glad we were able to play on the road with some confidence. How are the crowds down there?
  10. Haha, we're saying the same thing. We aren't exactly the road warriors this year.. having only won 2 road games this year!! Hopefully we can skip town with a win tonight.
  11. Chris was a Prop 48 player, so he couldn't get a redshirt. Also, he did recieve a degree. In fact, WKU men's basketball boasts a 100% graduation rate. I think making fun of a guy who has done a lot for this conference isn't needed. He has brought a lot of attention to WKU which brings attention to the SBC. He is a good kid that really did try. It's a shame he couldn't finish the season and help his teammates. Hopefully this is not career ending.
  12. Hilltopper Basketball has received its second verbal commitment in five days for the 2003-04 season. After a visit last weekend to Western's campus, 7', 295-pound senior Josh Higgins chose the Hilltoppers over the University of Washington, Illinois State, Evansville, and a few undisclosed teams from the MAC Conference. Higgins hordes the middle for Butler High School, just ten minutes north of Dayton. He led the Aviators to a 22-4 record as a junior, falling one game shy of the Ohio Final Four. Higgins had originally scheduled four other home visits, but canceled them all after picking the Tops. He plays lefthanded and is projected as a solid mid-range shooter with good touch, according to Vandalia's 35-year head coach Ray Zilotski. Citing the ongoing renovations of Diddle Arena as a major reason for selecting Western, Higgins looks forward to battling for playing time with recent Topper transfer Nigel Dixon from Florida State. With the Aviators, Higgins teams up with a fellow seven-footer inside, playing in the 4,000-seat Student Activities Center. He wants to pursue Criminal Justice with career aspirations of becoming a police officer. Along with 6'4 guard Nick Hill (DuQuoin, IL), Higgins is Western Coach Dennis Felton's second recruit to verbally commit in two weeks. --- Now for 2003, WKU has 6'11" Nigel Dixon, 7'2" Michael Doe, and this kid.
