He was extremely underrated. His last season virtually his whole ST unit was walk ons and people not on the two deep. Not to mention he was an outstanding recruiter. Seth handed out some titles that I wish we would have thrown Biagi way. He really liked UNT and would have stayed with a little convincing.

Absolutely. He had the player buy-in to the culture of wanting to be a successful player on special teams.

Kind of reduces our options since we have fired the last two DCs and last OC, two of those after one year. Plus it could mean we have to buy out Seth and Bennett should this experiment flop.
I REALLY want him to succeed and turn around the defense but I am a Mean Green fan so I’m used to failure. What can I say? Seems like following two four win seasons is a strange time to give out big contracts.

Getting Bennett was an incredibly intelligent move by Littrell. At this point, we needed someone of his stature, so whatever means it took is worth the risk.

With Novil back and the twins in the 250lb range I think PB has more to work with. If we can get to the 30pts a game range that would nice.

Absolutely, we will win more games if we hold them to <30ppg. Also with the complimentary play of a solid defense (field position, turnovers, offensive possession opportunities), the offense should inherently improve to a degree.

  4. Congratulations to Coach Bloesch and his family! This was clearly a strategic move to keep him around, and he ought to be able to add another tremendous statistical year to his resume this fall. As has been mentioned before, he was Littrell's 'eye in the sky' coaching from the press box as Littrell is on the sidelines; and with that he was already naturally involved in the in-game play calling. This will be a simple "transition", and likely in title only; but kudos for him and the work he did in his first year in Denton. Looking forward to continuing to enhance our OL play with his leadership of that group.

  5. Their recruiting strategy is absolutely paying dividends as shown in the past two seasons by results on the field. Dykes has leveraged the Dallas mantra with the high school coaches and kids as the article alludes to, and is winning on kids in the portal who go away to play out of HS and want to come back closer to home. I know our fanbase can't stand SMU, but  we should give credit where credit is due.
