  1. Be cautous of anything posted by BIG DAWG tonight for I have a lot of mean green fans at my house as we are having our anual NCAA tournament on X-Box, and as I am playing am afraid people will post things on my behalf.

Wheels off posts may or not be mine!

Oh sure, make excuses pre-emptively. Look we all drink and type from time to time. Just remember that friends don't let friends drink and type.

Which makes me wonder. Can we find the Fake Lonnie Finch and playmaker some friends? :P

  2. Well, AI gives Denver an immediate replacement for Melo not to mention it should make them a title contender when he gets back. In the short run Denver gets the best of it, but in the long run Philly definitely wins. You can't argue with being able to take 3 first round caliber players in 1 draft...

Denver definitely got the better of this deal. AI gives Denver a legitimate second scoring option. Now Marcus Camby can concentrate only simply being tall in the lane and rebounding. You can't double Melo because AI can score from anywhere plus you can't double AI when he drives because Melo is serviceable from anywhere on the floor to. As to Philly getting 3 first rounders, both of the picks that Denver gave up are at the end of the first round. Can anyone name impact caliber players in this upcoming draft past the first 8-10 picks? I sure can't. Denver is now a title contender and Philly is still...well, Philly.

  3. Wow! Dodge might be able to land a high school coach from a school with a crappy record, what can't he do?

I'm excited to see what the future might hold for UNT, but the way people on this board are acting like giddy school girls is just embarassing. I'm holding Dodge to a lower standard than what I would have held DD to for next year; that means a winning record and a win against SMU.

Mrs. Dickey while we appreciate you coming on the board at all please don't feel the need to hide behind a screen name. We always like you and your daughter...it was Darrell who some wanted gone.

  4. Since I am finally a permanent alum, I wanted to go ahead and get a class ring. Can anyone tell me how to go about procuring one?

There's usually a display set up inside or right outside of the bookstore to sell them. If not, call Josten's directly (they're in Denton) and they can hook you up.

  5. From now on can we refer to the area that SMU inhabits as either "University Park", "The Hilltop" or just "SMUville" but NEVER Dallas? I work and live in Dallas and don't really want the image of my newly adopted home to be sullied. Not to mention that Dallas stakes no claim to SMU...see inflated attendance figures for proof...so it just isn't fitting.

    Thank you.

  6. Most of the TCU poster's Ive seen have a good FB IQ and think it was a good move on our part.

But this guy is clueless :

That's the reason we made a new hire , because we are sitting at home again! Rice would have made a bowl with or without TD. He turned down a OC job over a HC.Geezz

No, he turned down the head coach job as Rice (wouldn't even interview). Then, after they hired Graham, he turned down the OC position.

  7. Carroll's Justin Padron: a class act

I did want to mention one of the classy things I've seen happen after a game in a long time.

Carroll linebacker Justin Padron made a point of going up to injured Allen QB Nathan Dick after the game. Padron told Dick that he was sorry that he got hurt and wished him the best.

Padron said after the game: "It's hard to see a great player like Nathan go down. It was a big blow to their team. But they still played physical and they still played hard. I give them a lot of credit for that."

    ____________________________________________________________________

This kid is a class act, the type of player we need at UNT. He's a little small, 5-11, 215. But all he does is make plays. He knocks you on your butt and then bends down to help you up. WE NEED THIS KID!!!!

I am not the least bit surprised. After EVERY Carroll touchdown they handed the ball to the refs and walked off the field. After every Allen personal foul the Carroll player would just walk away. Winners know that at the end of the day the scoreboard does all of the talking.

  8. We went to the game as well. It was me and my husband and our little one. She wore her Mean Green cheer outfit and cheered the Dragons on to victory.

It was fun. I am soooo excited about the upcoming season. Can't happen soon enough.

And you know you loved the bands. Riverdance anyone? Candy stripers?

  9. Emmitt01 - Thanks for coming out to support TD and the Dragons.  You are very observant and understand more than most.  Rally the troops and get ready to build a new stadium, your going to need it.  Until then, maybe NTU should get a vision to rent Dragon…… I mean Texas Stadium on Saturdays.  It will be available for good in fall 2009.

You have to understand that almost every fan that is not in a Carroll jersey is there to see the Dragons get beat.  Some opposing fans (including those who aren't even form the opposing team) choose to take advantage of the public venues like Dragon…...I gotta stop that…..Texas Stadium to sit in the sea of green, only to cheer for the Dragon's defeat.  I hope you guys don't have to wait long to experience that up north.  Just remember the sideways look (or worse).......you will need it some day.

I can promise that every Dragon fan that I know (and that's many) are excited about TD going to NTU. TD coaches "family" and fans are a part of that family (that's not just coaching BS).  True families celebrate promotions.  Are we sad he will not be on our sidelines, yes?  Are we happy his family will be with us all week and in the stands on Fridays, yes?  We give up a coach we new was eventually leaving but get to keep an awesome family who are now free to just chill and be friends (except while winning at NTU). Few ever get that opportunity in the coaching profes

    sion.

Trust me, there will be many in SL making their way north on Saturdays.  Our circle of fans openly discussed season tickets just today.  By the way, that circle included at least four different skin colors.  I could take you to any place in SL right now without concern about sideways looks for being black.  SL is not what it appears.

My family looks forward to joining you guys whenever we can on Saturdays.  Just look for the new older fans in green (many toting radical kids) acting like they are still in college.  We are related so no sideways looks please…..promise?

I hope you (and everyone) know that the "black" comment was me being facetious.

  10. 1)Anybody could coach Carroll because of their superior athletes. I mean, to a man they were smaller, and not as strong as the guy across from them. Who wouldn't be able to coach a team that doesn't have all the physical advantages? dry.gif

2)The spread will leave no room for Jamario. I think Tre Newton only had about 25-30 carries. How in the world will Jamario survive on that? dry.gif

3)Todd Dodge gets way more people at his Carroll games than he will at Fouts. There were over 25,000 people at this game. Nevermind that Carroll's home stadium holds only 11,000.

4)The facilities he has now blow away the ones at North Texas. Fouts Field doesn't even come close to Texas Stadium.

  11. I'm pretty sure he has to lose one year of eligibility to transfer between 1A schools. Redshirts are available for freshman years, then for medical reasons thereafter.

No, you don't have to burn a year. You can use your redshirt at any point...academics, injury, personal issues, anything can be a reason to take your unused redshirt year.

  12. It is refreshing to read an opponent's board that has some civility and thought.  My nephew graduated from Rice...it is a pretty classy place.  Question:  What is the average IQ of the Rice board compared to the boards of the two glorified high schools who play D1 football in Dallas and Ft. Worth?

The real difference is that Rice is a tier 1 academic institution that people nationwide recognize as such. Our neighbors in Ft Worth and on Mockingbird Ln (I refuse to concede all of Dallas, I live here) are tier 1 academic institutions because Muffy and Bart donated a ton of money to U.S. News and sent their kids there.
