Yes, kind of silly. But I guess I shouldn't look a gift horse in the mouth.

http://dallasnews.rivals.com/viewrank.asp?...2&Year=2007
I looked at this website and did not see any UNT tags next to any State top 100 player. Could you provide your source UNTLifer?
The link was posted on another thread:

While I am thrilled that a highly rated prospect would choose UNT over more recognizable programs, I am thoroughly perplexed as to why he would choose to come here instead of a Big 12 school (who also happens to have a new, highly-touted coach) where he could play the position where he proved he could play and wanted to play.

Thanks for the insight - good stuff to hear.
-
I didn't know he'd been moonlighting - he is a man of many talents.
-
No, I don't think it was one of those that was talked about. I can't remember the name, one I hadn't heard before...just looking thru the Denton listings: maybe Central Grill, Sunset Grill, Green House, or Pecan House? Anyone mention one of those in a thread this week????
Isn't Sweetwater Grill right off the square?

Transfer Question: Does this scholarship apply against our 2007 allotment, even though he is sitting out and not eligible, or 2008 numbers? If he is on ship during a sit-out year then 3 years of eligibility, plus one or two past ship years, that could be 6 scholarship years in college, or more if he was to transfer again. Is scholarship years unlimited; I know playing years are not?
Unless I'm mistaken, every year he is receiving a football scholarship, he counts against our allotment.

I'm just confused.
Give a salesman a product he can believe in, and then see what he can do.

Nutt has left open the possibility for Mustain to return to the Razorbacks.
I would be shocked.

The Mean Green blog mentions that Kenny Evans has been hired at Louisiana Tech.
One quote that kind of worries me is "It wouldn't surprise me to see Evans assigned to recruit the Dallas-Fort Worth area and Texas junior colleges for Tech."
I trust Coach Dodge's judgment above my own as to who would best help UNT win, but Coach Evans was one that may have been wise to retain.

Were you here for the Big West Daddy? Trust me...things have improved exponentially since we were in that league. We'd have football games with maybe 2K in attendance. The SBC in many ways saved our athletic program.
Our per game average in '99 was 17,448.

Funny his name should suddenly appear - I was looking at IMDB after talking about "Necessary Roughness" with a co-worker the other day, and stumbled on this:
Dennis Parker .... Prison Guard
I wasn't around Denton when he was coach, so I don't know what he looks like, but why wouldn't it be him? I'm sure FFR can confirm it...
Is there supposed to be a photo at this link?
I've slept since last time I watched Necessary Roughness, but it seems I remember something about (our) Dennis Parker being in it - maybe he played an opposing coach?
-
I always thought a lot of Coach Parker as a man, even though his years at UNT were not the best. Wish him well.
-
I seem to recall that during our first couple years of Sun Belt dominance we were picked to finish at or near the bottom. I think there's something to be said for the advantage of surprise.

That, ladies and gentlemen, is sig line worthy.
And so is the below.
-
Is anything set in stone as to whether the new Fouts Field will keep the artificial turf, or possibly move to grass?
-
I'm not saying he won't use anti-UNT tactics in his recruiting, but maybe we ought to give Coach Dickey a chance before we tar and feather him for something he hasn't done yet.

Mustain is a cry baby. Arkansas had an incredible season because they put the ball in the hands of the players who could make it happen. Sorry, but Mitch Mustain wasn't it, and anybody who puts his own self-promotion above the success of the team isn't worth a scholarship dime.

Not a big fan of the enclosed end zones, unless necessary. If you are trying to get the highest percentage of seats to be good seats, you build high along the sidelines.

I agree it would be cool to get some new uniforms this year, but I hate this new light shade of green they have been using. A new uniform would most likely incorporate that light green color. I would like to see and all green uniform (sorry guys i like it) like we have now with some black thrown in hear and there. I would also like to see an eagle of some sort on the helmets instead of North Texas.
Ditto on all the above.

But alas, Mustain might leave Arkansas after offensive coordinator Gus Malzahn, Mustain's high school coach, bolted for Tulsa on Monday to join -- you guessed -- apparent long lost friend Graham.
I hadn't heard about Malzahn leaving. I thought Graham was out of his mind to take a lateral step at best in leaving Rice, but leaving the Razorbacks for an assistant position with Tulsa?!?

SMU is a bunch of punks. We need to play them(and beat them) every tear. I would happily drive to Ruston every two years. I would drive to Tulsa(albeit not happily) every two years. Memphis has good BBQ. Isn't UAB close to the ocean.
I lived in Memphis for 2 years, and they have no clue what good barbecue is--they think it's sacriligious to barbecue beef. And that runny, vinegary sauce. And they call Texas Bar-B-Q roast beef with gravy on it . . . I had to defend the virtues of Texas Bar-B-Q on an almost daily basis.
Birmingham is about 5 hours from Gulf Shores - Troy is probably a couple hours closer to the ocean.

I can handle the black. My BIGGEST pet peeve with FB uniforms is when teams (including UNT) do one color, i.e. green jerseys, green pants, green socks. That looks SO high school and Thug like. To me, uniforms always look better with contrasting pants.
I don't know--I think when you are the "Mean Green," you have the right to be in people's face with green.

We will certainly keep Mr. Neptune and his family in our prayers.

Okay, but at what position? He's not big enough to be a tackle.
