  1. Little quick on that huh? NJ won their home games which they are supposed to do, the Ducks are up 2-1 at home going into the 3rd. Don't count the Ducks out just yet, they beat the best 3 teams in the country.
  2. It would be a crime to not let him coach for two more years and try to win an NBA championship. Plus that would run out Bradley's contract and let the new coach start off without the Mavs Mantis. Friday, May 30 Nelson vacationing in Maui, decisions coming later -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- Associated Press DALLAS -- Don Nelson wants to keep coaching the Dallas Mavericks. Team owner Mark Cuban says he can. Yet Nelson said Friday he plans to spend the next two weeks in Maui before meeting with Cuban to discuss their next move. "I need to step away for a little while and get my thoughts together and not be mentally and physically fatigued,'' Nelson said. "I don't want to drag this thing out, but that's the best way to handle it. "I can't really make a decision and he shouldn't make decision now. We're both in an emotional kind of state. Let's just chill out and think about it.'' Nelson's contract to coach the team expired after this season, which ended Thursday night when Dallas was eliminated by the San Antonio Spurs in Game 6 of the Western Conference finals. He still has three years left as general manager, with five years as a consultant beyond that. It's all part of a unique 11-year deal Nelson signed three years ago, soon after Cuban bought the team. Nelson had been planning to give up coaching before being reinvigorated by Cuban. He was so revved up this season that he wanted an extension months ago. But Cuban wouldn't discuss it until the season ended. On Friday, he said in an e-mail that the job is Nelson's if he wants it. "I've told Nellie during the season that I want him back and I told him again this morning,'' Cuban wrote. "He did a great job this year and has earned some R&R time. When he gets back from Hawaii, we will sit down and take care of things.'' Nelson and Cuban shook hands and chatted briefly at team headquarters around noon Friday. Cuban asked when they should get together and Nelson asked for some time off. Nelson then met with reporters and made it clear to reporters that he'd like to return for a 26th season, and maybe even a 27th and 28th. But he also said that first he and his wife must discuss what's best for them. He said coaching another team isn't likely in their plans because at 63 he doesn't want to move and start over again. "I'm very comfortable here,'' he said. "It's a comfort zone that I think is important to us.'' If Nelson returns only as the GM, he would help hire his replacement. While there might be fewer candidates to choose from by the time he returns from the beach, Nelson reiterated that he's in no hurry to make a decision. "If there was a sense of urgency, Mark and I would be talking right now,'' he said. Nelson came to Dallas as the GM and not the coach, and did it for a year with Golden State, too. He knows being only in that role would provide less pressure and more time for scouting -- and golf. "I love coaching and I have loved coaching,'' he said. "But there comes a time, whether it's now or in three years or whenever, that I'm going to have to walk away from it. I can see my life going in many directions at this point -- and they're all good. There is no bad scenario here for me.'' Nelson is the third-winningest coach in league history, but has never won a championship or even made the finals. He said throughout the season how proud he was of this team, which won a franchise-record 60 games. "We had a marvelous year,'' Nelson said, "probably the best I've ever had coaching.''
  3. I just got back from a stop off in the Mustang Maniacs Fan Forum and geez, we should all be very thankful for this board and the no-pop up ad rule. It is literally impossible to get into any type of smmoth reading mode when you are constantly bombarded with that crap... and I have a pop up blocker to weed most of it out. I know that they get a lot of grief for keeping the peace on these boards but the guys really do a great job supporting a no-pop up ad fan board. Thanks fellas.
  4. That is hilarious as well as hypocritical. You should follow your own advice "Rudy"
  5. Yes, Eagle Chick... things are very exciting at Bellevue. I fully expect the next e-mail will be about the tornado that touched down in Grenade's office that carried the scale model away. It really is appropriately named "Legends" Stadium. The Legend of Sleepy Hollow, The Legend of Bigfoot, etc.. just giving you a hard time Grenade but we have been hearing about the stadium for 8 months now and I think the first presentation was supposed to be in November. If you need time to finish it than just say so, honesty is the best policy, right?
  6. Cheapest way would be to covert them to AVI's or MPegs and that way they could go on regular CDR's. Those blank CDR's are like less than 50 cents now so that would be ideal. That way I could copy them just one time from video to disk and then burn copies of the disk fairly easily. I tried that last year with FFRick. I bought this "Dazzle" cd creator with a video adapter card and got the video to capture but it always cut the sound out. I am sure it is really easy to do if you know what you are doing but I just couldn't figure it out. Any of you techies out there know how to do it? Basically I need to be able to capture video and sound in the form of an AVI or Mpeg. By the way, let's keep this discussion over here. I don't want fifty people asking for this and it is nice and hidden over here.
  7. Alright guys.. I found it... in the attic. I am regretting this already. How many copies do I need to make? Send me a PM. Here is what I have on tape: 1988 UT-NT 2002 UT-NT 2000 Dale Hansen Media Day (ch 8) 1997 Texas Tech-NT game (no sound, smuggled copy from Tech coaches) 1997 Texas Tech Highlight video with mudic dubbed in (released by atheltic dept for some reason or another) 1997 Mean Green Promo Video ESPN clip from after Tech win Mean Green Football 1998 - official recruiting video Coach Trilli's first game ever (coupled with his first loss ever!).. it was on Fox Southwest and I think it was against A&M Coach - a movie made about Hayden Fry during the 70's (actually pretty damn cool, I rented it out of the UNT media library and copied it) So that is what I have. I will make you guys a deal. If you have something that I don't have than I will do a tape exchange for you. If not then we can barter in beer
  8. Ahh, you don't have to beg ... Let me find it, I think I know where it is at. But it will take me a few days to copy it, ok?
  9. Mean Green Inks NJCAA All-America Guard DENTON (5/14/03) -- North Texas head basketball coach Johnny Jones has announced that Highland Community College's (Freeport, Ill.) Mark Wilson, a NJCAA Second Team All-America selection, has signed a national letter of intent to play for the Mean Green. The junior college transfer will have two years of eligibility left with North Texas after playing for nationally-ranked Highland CC as freshman and sophomore. A 6-3, 210-pound guard, Wilson led the Cougars to a 28-5 record his freshman season and to a 27-6 mark in 2002-03. As a sophomore, he averaged 22.2 points per game while shooting 57 percent from the field. Wilson also averaged 3.6 assists per game, 9.4 rebounds per game, collected 76 steals, scored 30 or more points six times and 20 or more points on 18 occasions. His 22.2 points per game were the 12th most in the country and his 9.4 rebounding average ranked 23rd in the nation. "Mark is the complete package," said Highland CC head coach Pete Norman. "He was a Second Team All-America, which speaks for itself. He is a tremendous scorer that plays with a big heart, and he was a guy that refused to let us lose." Wilson's long list of achievements are crowned by his NJCAA Second Team All-America status. The leading scorer in Highland CC history, Wilson has been a Unanimous All-Region IV Team selection, Unanimous Most Valuable Player of the Arrowhead Conference, a Region IV All-Tournament pick and a three-time Region IV Player of the Week. "Mark will be a great addition to our basketball program with the loss of our perimeter players from last year's team," said Jones. "He will have the opportunity to make an immediate impact. I feel very good that with the returning players and the inclusion of our signees we have taken the necessary steps to improve our team for next season."
  10. I don't know if you guys keep up with what is going on with the Texas State Legislature but right now you have a coup going on. They are split right down party lines on redistricting and rather than just take it lying down and losing, the democrats (50 of 53) decided to go to Oklahoma to hang out in Ardmore for the next 2 weeks so that a quorun cannot be established. Brilliant political move and I wonder why it doesn't happen more often. Kudos to those guys for believing in their cause enough to actually DO something about it. Gives me hope that not all politicians are scumbags.
  11. Something that youf "found" on E-Bay and just happen to be the seller of as well. What a coincidence! Dude, just tell us if you want to auction off a tape, there will be NT fans that will buy copies direct from you without you having to pay the E-Bay listing and commission fees! I see that you also sold the 88 UT game and the 89 SMU game. How much for all three? I have a copy of the UT game but I would LOVE to see that SMU game with a sold out Fouts. How much? I would buy.
  12. It has now been about 5 minutes since the latyest Grenade post and it has been viewed 30 times or so. There are not 30 people even on this board right now. Heck, 30 people have not even viewed his last post and it got 6 or 7 replies. This boycott is not going to be easy when Grenade keeps reloading the page to up the view count. Oh well, it was a good exercise in public opinion. Looks like there are 3 posters that actually enjoy his nonsense. More power to him, that is about how many people will see the next Dixie Chicks concert or watch the new Jeanine Garafolo sitcom. Green Grenade, the Tim Robbins of GoMeanGreen.
  13. This coming from the man that created the Random Green Grenade Post Creator! Which, by the way, is on the fritz right now. I was starting to miss the old booger so I thought I would use it to quench my appetite... but alas it is not working. I just saw that he posted minutes ago. I should have kept my mouth shut. But I am staying strong, I have not viewed it and I will not view it. But if someone else caves in, could you please not respond to it please. Come on people, stop feeding the monkeys!
  14. Hmm, a very interesting turn of events in the giant Green Grenade experiment. No posts from the Grenade in 24 hours. Perhaps the mere challenge was effective after all. Well, we are about 36 hours away from the unveiling of Lochness Monster Stadium, I simply cannot wait!
  15. I am not advocating any type of censorship or banning. Only an experiment in Mean Green Sociology with one particular poster. There are people that undoubtedly do not read my posts just as there are people that do not read Shane's posts. The majority of readers have given up trying to understand the Grenade posts, I am just wondering if it can go all the way to zero. I want to know if it possible. So you can choose to participate or tell our small but growing group to take a leap. Personally I like your posts Eagle Chick.. plus you are a cool Eagle Chick in person as well.
  16. I would like to perform an experiment on culture and society right here on this board. Everytime I see one of Green Grenade's ridiculous posts, I tell myself over and over again that I will not read it. I will not give him the satisfaction of seeing 29 views next to his post rather than 28. But, my curiosity gets to me and I think... maybe this is the one, maybe he finally will post something meaningful that is not rude, obnoxious, and degrateful to women. But alas, I click on it and scold myself soon after for being suckered in yet once again. So my challenge is simple. I think the reason why I always give in to this guilty little pleasure is because others do. I look up there and see the usual PlummMeanGreen response and I see the 12 views and I think.. hmm, well I am not the only one still hoping for some sanity from this guy. Shortly after I am swearing off ever giving in to the temptation again. So here is what I propose. A complete silent treatment. I don't think I can do this alone, kind of like going on a diet... I need some wingmen here. Now, if you MUST view his post (which would theoretically be BREAKING the boycott) at least do not respond to it, it only will encourage more of this behavior. But, I would be a very proud Mean Green fan if there could be a Green Grenade post with less than 5 views (you gotta believe he will read his own work at least 5 times)... and zero responses. So what do you say kiddos, can you do it?
  17. The one that got away, huh Cooley? What ever happened to half those guys? I seriously do not recongize half of those names, does it go back pretty far? Also, do you have any idea how Tennel ended up doing at Midwestern St? He was always one of my favorites. I think he should have been given another chance. Kicking him off the team was the beggining of the end of Trilli. That is blaming your inability to coach and relate to players on a young guy that was just trying to figure out the world. I will never forget him sitting in the stands watching his team play just egging to rip off his street clothes and hop back in the game. Just another sad part of our history that I hope JJ makes us forget this season with some wins. There are so many, :we should have jsut done this.. or that.." in our recent history that it makes me sick. Especialy when I see Miller playing well for OSU and Deg kicking butt with a bum leg at UT.
  18. Ok, you guys could probably care less but I am a hockey fan. Expect Giguire to be out of there one day after the playoffs to go play for someone... anyone besides Mickey Mouse and his Mickey Mouse paycheck.
  19. I heard Nelly on the radio yesterday and he sounds as if he relaly wants to keep coaching. Well, who wouldn't with Cuban as the owner? Unlimited money to spend, first class treatment all the way, complete free control in personnel regardless of bonehead moves in Bradley and LaFrenz getting the maximum, and finally you get to hire your son and all of your buddies as assistants and pay them more than 80% of the head coaches in the league... uh, yeah, I think I could coach under those circumstances! BUt seriously, I always thought that Nelly had to be talked out of retirement and in a sense he was because he didn't want to go through another emotional rollercoaster. But his words were along the lines of "I am really enjoying myself and I am not ready to go hide in Hawaii again just yet" so I think we will see Nelly back unless his son decides he wants to coach. Here is what I think is going to happen, I think Nelly will coach another year maybe two; but Little Nelly will be vaulted to head coach the last year and dad will work alongside him as his top assistant. It will be a mentor year or two with Little Nelly calling the shots. That is unless they happen to win it all this year, every coach wants to go out while he is on top.
  20. I don't get it, how can Dallas be one team one night and a completely different team the next? You know that Dallas added yet another coach yesterday, Cuban hired Silas (the ousted New Orlean's coach) as a consultant because he split with the Kings this year and beat them by 24 points in the win. All of the sudden the Mavs are setting a record for first half points and absolutely beating the living crap out of the mighty Kings. This could be the major turning point we have all been waiting for since the Mavs started slumping about a month and a half ago.
  21. Jordan was fired from the Wizards today. He is now saying something to the effect that he didn't want to retire from playing but management asked him to stop playig so that he could concentrate on personnel more. Then they go and fire him. So here is a very crazy question, would the Mavs get over the hump by having Jordan come in for one or two years to play small forward? About the only thing I would be worried about would be the chemistry being disrupted; but it is at least something to think about.
  22. Worse score than the Portland a$$ whooping but for some reason it was not nearly as painful to watch. Maybe because I respect the Kings more, maybe because I actually like the Maloof brothers, maybe because they are not a bunch of thugs and gangsters, and maybe because they have really great fans. It just didn't hurt like game 6 did, I hope I am not getting soft. What did you fellas think? By the way, I am just assuming that we lose, we are down by almost 30 at the end of the 3rd quarter!
  23. Next up, the Kings including back to back games this Sat and Sunday. At least they are at their place. If we are gonna get stuck with that sh!t scheduling then it might as well be a quick road trip. Van Exel was incredible today. Bradley needs to learn that he should NEVER shoot the ball. Dirk was not even in the top 5 for league MVP, absolutely criminal amd shows that it is more of a popularity contest than who really is the most valuable player. It is pretty obvios to me that without Dirk in the zone we don't win, period. He showed us that in Game 4, Game 5 and Game 6. As the announcer said during the game, Stevie Nash is the emotional backbone of this team. Finley is still not back to normal, and finally Raef has shown he is not much more than a better option than Evan Eschmier. But, even with all of this going against them, the little Mavericks pull off what turned out to be an upset today. As always with the Mavs (this year)... first one to 100 wins. If they can outscore the Kings in the first 3 quarters than they can beat them but there is no way this team can win a series of coming from behind again. That was a lucky treat today, we cannot rely on that over a 7 game series (as they showed in 4, 5, and 6). Late.
  24. It's a shame but I don't blame him at all. The money is just too much and a bad season next year could cost him millions. He can always come back and get his degree when he is a retired millionaire.
  25. They lost the 3rd quarter. I knew things were going bad when they were playing players that I had never even heard of out there. Also, anytime Evan Eshmirer (sp?) actually gets to play, you know that Nelly has chalked the game up as a learning situation. All of the other 3 quarters it was pretty even, Mavs just went to sleep for 12 minutes. No worries mate.
