  1. Jack Pardee: 6 Man Christoval, TX

Who did you want us to sign GrandGreen? Once again, these rating services spend all of their time on the "big-time" recruits

    Rivals Top 100 2002

    Rivals Top 100 2003

    Rivals Top 100 2004

    Rivals Top 100 2005

Interesting that in the above lists there are quite a few that have been extremely successful, but more often than not, they didn't live up to the ratings applied by the website.

  2. Agree. Especially if season ticket prices are not 5/6 of what they cost last season.

This and your other post show what is wrong. Go to watch North Texas and give what you can to support the program, period! I'd like to have 8 or 9 home games, but it is what it is right now and until we start filling Apogee regardless of who we are playing and providing our support things won't change.

  3. What cracks me up is smooo has been to 3 consecutive bowl games, and they still don't draw.

And obviously their coaches are too lazy to put in the work to evaluate a recruit their own players. I can hear Coach Jones, when he's not tied up with his ministry, saying to his assistants, "Let's take a look at who McCarney has targeted and give them a call." Can't wait to start playing them again.

  4. ....and from the same era Evan Cardwell from little 2-A Hutto, and the hardest working RB (besides Patrick Cobbs) to play at NT, James Mitchell (#37 on your program) from Liberty Christian.

Most recently. Who ever heard of Victor Gill (Argyle), and Aaron Fortenberry (2-A Era) before they arrived at NT.

    Overachievers one and all.

Let's hope Mr. Haboul joins this group before he leaves NT.

Exactly. I'd rather have a team full of players like this that realize they need to work to maximize their talent and don't shy away from hard work.

  5. 6'3" and 185 at 18 years old could translate to 6'3" 225lbs at 20 years old and a linebacker with great speed. That's how Miami built their team. A HS coach wouldn't make those quotes if he didn't believe it. Lying to college coaches will close recruiting doors and opportunities for his players in the future real quick.

As many have mentioned, the Fort Bend School District, which butts up to Katy ISD, is full of talent. Love the measurables of this young man. Remember, Bob Hayes had never played football until the Cowboys drafted him.

  6. Let me make this simple. They averaged 35,521 last season in attendance.

35,521....even with the Rangers in the playoffs, even without southern California type weather every game, even with Texas/OU taking place. I KNOW IT WAS THE INAUGURAL SEASON...and I don't care. From the outside looking in (CUSA) all that matters is that a 1A startup with no football history CRUSHED a school with a brand new stadium, and well known aspirations to join CUSA, at the turnstiles.

Someone will trot out the same old lame excuses now but the only FACTS that exist are this. UTSA drew against teams that people have truly never heard of...we drew flies for a 4-2 home record in a new stadium.

Honestly, since when did attendance become a requirement for conference affiliation? SMU draws 12,000 a game, reports more and is now in the Big East. Gasp, they've also done it without a baseball team. There is much more that goes into conference movement than attendance, and I would bet it is way down the line of importance.

  7. I don't think we get Evans. From A need perspective, not signing a QB in this class would be pretty devastating long term. Hope I'm wrong

I would like to sign one, but I don't see it as devastating if we don't. We have Thompson with two years remaining, Osborn with two years remaining and McNulty with 3 years remaining and a redshirt if needed, plus Jones with four years of eligibility. Something tells me Jones won't be switching positions.

  8. With the scholarship allotment possibly full or close to full, I would be surprised to see him at NT, and I hate that. I really think he is a sleeper that will be an excellent DL for someone. From what I hear around town out here, he likes Tech to the point that I see him either walking on or accepting a grayshirt to them over a full offer from us or another school. Just my two cents.

  9. You know, comments like the first one on Vito's blog are ridiculous, to say we are limping towards signing day. In the past, we had no idea who we had until signing day. I'm sure a lot of this last minute maneuvering occurred prior to other signing days but we were never privy to that information, and we were perfectly happy with our classes. Honestly, we really don't know what kind of class we have until they start to develop. Who thought Lemon would not only start, but play as well as he did without haaving a single penalty last year? I'm happy with every young man that signs with us and can't wait to see how they develop over the next 4 or 5 years. Let's read the 2017 edition of Dave Campbell's Texas Football to see the final analysis of this class.

Dunbar was a two star, we were Cobbs only offer, Fitzgerald was a walk on, Lemon was a late signee, Delgado was a walk on, etc... We really don't know what we have until they spend some time with us.
