  1. He's one of the few commits we had with a "big 5" offer.

Really, where are your getting your "lowest rated player" info? Scout has him as one of the few ranked at his position (the #149 safety, Chad Davis is the #146 CB). Rivals doesn't show a single commit rated higher than he is (5.4).

First, Rivals dropped Davis' rating from 3 to 2 stars after his commitment to us, so I don't think they are too terribly reliable. Second, based off those that have seen him play this year, he hasn't been impressive and third, he is nowhere to be found on the DRC's All Area Teams. Not trying to hurt feelings, just calling it like I see it.

  2. As it exists today, the bible is a book. compiled, translated, and edited over the course of centuries by men with their own best interests at heart. That doesn't necessarily mean that the teachings are bad, but neither does it mean that the book, to the letter, is divinely inspired by god, infallible, and to be taken literally (often times viewed with weird time stamped coded messages).

The way I personally see the bible today is that the four gospels (although with some contradictory details among them) have got some pretty good stuff on guidance for living a good life. Basically, be excellent to each other and stop hoarding shit and being all gaudy about it. Also, it's totally legit to hang out with your friends and have a little BBQ's fish and wine. Therefore, I tailgate.

The old testament is full of violence, polygamy, slavery, and an irrationally jealous god. I'm in the school that says if we're going to cherry pick laws like no homosexuality, then we should be indiscriminate and abolish shellfish (which oddly I don't eat as a vestige of my own upbringing), mixed fabrics, shaves, and women's haircuts, while we should be aggressively taking slave girls and marrying our dead brothers' wives. By the standards of most modern Christian official dogma, the whole thing is either ALL right, or it's not. Stop using the parts you like just because something makes you feel icky.

Paul just, well, Paul is personally responsible for being the catalyst that brought about the reaction of my becoming a very, very non-religious person. If religion is going to be something that actively makes my life unpleasant, nay, miserable, just because my chosen deity wants me to live as such, then I'm out.

Alllll that said, to anyone here who is religious, I say good on you. I have no problems whatsoever with it, as long as you have no problems whatsoever with my lack of religion. Unfortunately, too many beliefs dictate that people DO care and people MUST actively proselytize and/or condemn upon failure to convert.

I appreciate your beliefs and honesty, but your views on The Bible and the roles/meanings of the Old and New Testament are just a little off base.

  3. Do we really want to mess with only Denton kid that has wanted to play football at UNT in years???

Not necessarily, but it seems obvious that he is the lowest rated DB, and maybe player, in this class. He didn't have the type of year expected of him and he can probably easily afford a semester's tuition. This has nothing to do with ruining a potential relationship with a local school and everything to do with making the best decision for North Texas.

  4. Nelson, Schilleci and Walker are still listed as "soft" verbals via Rivals. I know Rivals isn't always up to date, but is there any reason to believe that any of these has backed out? Also, Kidsy was said to have been looking after having a very good senior season. I am just trying to figure out how the numbers will work out considering we still have a few young men set to visit this weekend and possibly the next. I guess we really won't know until signing day, and I guess there is the possibility of one or two not qualifying, etc... I would be curious how accurate their information actually is considering Rivals still has Siddons listed as a commit and Rivals, Scout and ESPN are all missing a few names that have reportedly committed to play for NT. Does anyone have the accurate list?

  5. We should have never changed our name. The change was the results of "UT envy". We even changed our newspaper from the "Chat" to "North Texas Daily". Lots of imagination there. "State" seems to work fine in places like Ohio, Pennsylvania, Florida, Oklahoma,Louisiana. Our administration at that time was a bunch of carpetbaggers. I wish I could still buy NTSU stuff. And why didn't we change our radio station call letters? UNT is just one of those names that don't fit. I speak of us as just "North Texas".

Have to disagree with one point. Add North before Ohio, Florida, Oklahoma, Pennsylvania, etc... and what do you end up with?

  6. He worked out today...his workout reports are horrible though according to NT Football Performance. Guy was great in high school so I hope he buys in and earns his spot.

I do too. I was excited about Hines, but wonder if he will turn into another Sampson. If so, that will be a big disappointment to me.

What do you think of this Rick....??? ... Dare you to comment on this..... You won't..... It is the truth not Fox-facts.

This is a government site.... not what Fox reports ....or some other political site..... So was he a financial conservative???

So, if I read this correctly, the debt total of all presidents (42) up to 2001 was almost equal to what Obama has rung up in three years, $5,807,463,412,200.06 to $4,156,412,403,827.14? Plus, Obama refuses to discuss spending cuts while asking for an increased debt limit, new taxes on EVERYONE and refuses to be transparent in his dealings although he promised to run the most transparent office ever.

Sure, Bush ran up a deficit, but we were also attacked by terrorists on our soil and he responded. Was it the correct response? History will tell.

  8. But will Tulsa leave?

The power has now shifted to CUSA. Nbe, from here on out, has to play defense. No school will now accept a Nbe invite. Nbe is not "standing pat." Rather, Nbe is cuckholded because they don't and won't have a TV contract. Now, with its hand untied, CUSA leadership can take some proactive steps. Should be interesting, that is for sure!

I think it was German General Rommel or some other German General that said that an Armoured Division without petrol is nothing but a junk yard. The Nbe is in that predicament, as a conference without a TV contract is a junk yard.

    From San Diego Trib-Union Newspaper:

"When the Big East couldn't guarantee revenue or produce solid projections, the Mountain West became the safer option. The Big East, which has a year remaining in its current TV deal, almost certainly would have meant more money for the 2015 football season. But anything beyond that is an increasingly murky proposition, especially if Connecticut and Cincinnati make good on reports that they, too, want out."
