  1. Tech's starting QB graduated so who did he really beat out ? Believe Young also hugged the bench at Texas Tech. Tech had a horrible defense last year so unless they have vastly improved, 3 TDs against that D isn't a big deal. Might want to hold off on the kudos until some actual games are played.
  2. Rivals rated Young at 5.8 and Bergland at 5.7 (virtually even). Young Offers out of HS Texas Tech Arizona Baylor Rice SMU Bergland offers out of HS Kansas Boise Colorado Colorado State Duke Kansas State Minnesota San Diego State Tulsa UCLA Utah Washington State Wyoming Bergland was the Colorado HS Player of the Year, a member of the state championship relay team and finished 4th in the 200 meter. Not exactly void of talent. Tech did not have a returning starting QB so it was much easier for Young to step in. Bergland is as good as catch for us and Young was for Tech.
  3. On the other hand, he may be really sorry that he's not here.
  4. Up to date. Includes women's & men's golf. http://www.sunbeltsports.org/ABOUTTHESUNBELT/TheBubasCup.aspx

  6. Thanks, not a very good turnout. Believe Texas State had nearly 5,000 at their Spring game.
  7. Great turnout - Any numbers estimate ?
  8. Not to long ago weren't you praising the Sun Belt and downplaying the CUSA ?
  9. Why not just invite the whole conference ? (please note my sarcasm)
  10. CUSA needs to put the brakes on and stay at 14. Thought we were moving up FROM the Sun Belt, not WITH it.

  13. On the media side, Western gets coverage from both the Nashville, Tenn., and Louisville, Ky., markets. Those are the nation's Nos. 29 and 48 telecasts markets, respectfully. The Hilltoppers' entrance makes the coverage stronger in Nashville, which is the TV home to Middle Tennessee (in Murfreesboro). With Louisville included, the "future" C-USA will have team coverage in 10 of the top 50 telecast markets (Dallas, Houston, Miami, Charlotte, Nashville, San Antonio, West Palm Beach, Birmingham, Norfolk and Louisville. Marshall is in the Charleston-Huntington market, No. 65). That compares to five current top 50 markets (Dallas, Houston, Orlando, Birmingham and Memphis). http://www.herdzone.com/genrel/040113aab.html
  14. 8) Brock Berglund, QB, North Texas With all due respect to Derek Thompson, the Mean Green’s quarterback last season, his 2012 season wasn’t one for the record books. 57.5% completion percentage (83rd in the nation), as many interceptions (14) as touchdowns, a good-not-great 7.1 yards per attempt. It was an unspectacular – even average – season. So why isn’t he on this list? Because North Texas’ best chance to take a big step forward offensively is if Brock Berglund becomes the starting quarterback. Berglund was a big-time prospect, one of the top-rated dual-threat quarterbacks in the nation coming out of Colorado in 2011. But he ran into some trouble academically and ended up playing at Scottsdale (Ariz.) Community College. He’s qualified now and transferring to North Texas, and bringing his considerable skill with him. And while there are a number of spots for improvement for the Mean Green, quarterback could be the biggest one. A step forward under center could do wonders for the team; but if Berglund doesn’t win the starting job, it could be more of the solid-not-spectacular work of Thompson. http://www.texasfootball.com/college-news/view/180347
  15. 1. The fewer Belt team, the better. Like to feel we are moving without taking the whole conference with us.

  17. Any tidbits on this morning's session ? Know it's only the 3rd day, but info so far has been very skimpy. Any observations anyone can offer for those of us who are far away is appreciated.
  18. Tulane has absolutely no ties to the NO Bowl.
