She's finally in the game now in the 5th and pitched only one inning yesterday. Wagoner got the start again today. Is Childers hurt?

Don't think she's hurt. I think RD is just easing her back into things...after that rough outing against the Ags.

Glad our gals took care of business. MU is the worst team I've ever watched. Horribly coached. I bet you they bobbled 15 balls this weekend. (Like on throws to first or third. Even when we'd hit a ground ball single to the OF.....many times they bobbled it--allowing us to get an extra base (or two). Go Mean Green!

Make it 11-0. Still top of the first, still no outs. Six hits, 4 BBs, 3 errors.

    GMG

Up 12-0 after 1. Seems like Rodney held Cierra at third twice.....with us up by 11. Looked like she could have easily scored on a sac fly.....or that wild pitch. She did score later on a hit. I guess he's not wanting to run up the score?

I am guessing she was injured early this year because she wasn't playing, but man, what a welcome addition to the lineup.  Besides her contributions noted above, she is probably our top, and most versatile outfielder.  A really strong four tool, speed, hitting, throwing and defense, player.

You mention four tool....and that's right. She doesn't have the fifth tool....power. But last night, bless her heart...came really close to hitting a homer. Really close.

She wasn't hurt. Just lost playing time....due to being in a really long slump. (I asked the injury question to one of our reporters). Glad she's out of it........she's one of my favorite players. I do wonder why Tatum Sparks didn't play at all last night. Hope she's available today.

Slow start in Game 2 but we end up winning that one 10-0 as well. This is an even better night than I was hoping for. Hope this gives a bid of confidence for the ladies heading into the Texas A&M game tomorrow. I HAVE EXTRA TICKETS TOMORROW IF ANYONE NEEDS SOME!!

Combined stats today for our team:

    Medford: 2-5, 2B
    Cobb: 2-4, 2B, 2 RBI
    Simon: 4-8, 2B, 3B, HR, 6 RBI
    Smith: 1-7, RBI, BB
    Gamble: 2-6, 2 HR, 4 RBI, 2 BB
    Grahmann: 0-1
    Rainey: 4-6, 2 2B
    Truitt: 0-0, BB
    Ibarra: 2-3, 2 2B
    Donohoe: 0-1, RBI, BB
    Moffitt: 0-3, BB
    Nicholson: 1-5
    Conley: 1-3, HR, 3 RBI, 2 BB
    Epperson: 1-1, 2 RBI
    Christensen: 1-2, 2B, 3 RBI

Great stat compilation. But can I add....Lexi Cobb drew 4 BBs in the two games. She's great at getting on via the walk.

  7. Nice 15-3 win in game 1. (run ruled after 5 innings)

    Win for Wags......

Some great hitting.....Gamble with two homers.....freshman Maddie Conley with a bomb. Morgan Medford now hitting. 340...Lexi Cobb with three walks and a double.

But the hitting star....Cierra Simon. 3-4.....6 rbis. Had a triple, a double, then a homer. Had another at bat.....needing a single for a cycle. With her great speed.....thought she might bunt. But she swung away......and grounded to second.

    Lots of subs got in.

While their feed is all astroturf......I do like their stadium itself. Lots of chairback seats in the middle.

On to game 2....Go Mean Green!!! Game 2 should start shortly after 7:30 I think....

BIG win as Wagoner goes the distance and dominates FAU again. Gamble ended a homer drought with a clutch three-run shot in the sixth inning to increase our lead to 4-0 going into the seventh. We won, 4-1, and finish the weekend just one game behind FAU for first place in the conference.

But with Charlotte sweeping UTSA this weekend, we're now in a three-way tie for second place with them and Tulsa. We should hold the tiebreaker though as we're 3-0 against the tied teams.

We play three at Memphis (4-33, 1-17), the worst team in the conference next weekend. FAU plays three at home against UTSA, the second worst. Meanwhile, Tulsa and Charlotte will get to canabalize each other this weekend. Charlotte will be a tough out for us like they were last year. Our last three games of the season will be at the 49ers.

Also, after sweeping us and getting to play three (sweeping them as well), UAB is in the thick of things, battling back from a 5-7 conference record to 11-7.

Seems like our bats are coming around, even if the homers aren't there. 10 hits today, and 3 from Medford. We've got two games at a bad TAMU Commerce team that can hopefully get the bats going even more before our Wednesday game

Those two games Tuesday at Commerce.....I wonder if Rodney might play a lot of subs. And maybe give freshman pitcher Kayleigh Smith a start. Just to give some returnees some experience for next season. The games, at this point, don't affect us....since I don't think we have any chance at an at large bid to the tourney. Just a thought...

  9. Great 4-1 win today....by the Mean Green!

    Highlights:

    1) Unbelievable pitching by MackWags......a shutout into the 7th....spoiled by a solo homer.

    2) Up 1-0 in the sixth....when Kailey Gamble hits a really high fly ball to right.....that just goes over the OF fence. 3 run bomb.

    3) Great D by all three outfielders......especially Rylee Nicholson in center. Had a highlight reel play in the first few innings. Molly Rainey and Tatum Sparks also with some nice outfield play.

    4) Morgan Medford with three hits today....now hitting .320.

Lotsa games this week.......2 at A&M Commerce on Tuesday, host A&M on Wednesday...and three in Memphis next weekend. Memphis is pretty bad. Last time I looked they had a record of like 3-25. But, you can't count as wins....until you beat 'em. Go Mean Green!!!! (Edit: Memphis is 4-33..)

  10. Finale today at noon. Would be nice to win this series. This is a very good softball league.

I guess Coach will pitch MackWags today....since she was so good Friday.

If you're never been to a softball game....they're a hoot. The girls have so much fun playing....it's infectious. GO Mean Green!

  11. Nice win by the gals. Some great pitching by MackWags.....to save the day. And some huge hits. Tatum Sparks was the offensive star....but some other big hits, as well. Nice to see Kat with that double. I think some of our bats are coming around.....Lexi has been hitting well for a while now.

The drone show was superb. And that's the first night game I had been to.....love the little light show that happens....when we win. GMG!
