  1. UNT at #7 :)

TOP TEN NCAA FOOTBALL LOGOS (NON BCS EDITION)

    http://thelebsports.com/football/top-ten-c...-bcs-edition/48

Too bad it's nearly impossible to get stuff with "just" the logo on it. For some reason we also have to put the words North Texas everywhere with the logo. We don't even have it on the helmets. They sent me a car emblem and that looks more like a bumper sticker with the words North Texas and the logo. It's really bad branding.

  2. I like the Pizza Hut Park design, but would settle for Liverpool's new facility. ;)

The Pizza Hut Park design is great. That place only holds 20,000 and change, but it is extremely loud when it's even 75% full. It's the opposite of Fouts ... where you can have 25K there and feel like your by yourself.

  3. Holy Cow! 5 Rivals three stars so far. This will be the best recruiting class in decades! And love the defensive backfield pick-ups. We have been down there for a few years and very bad in depth. How many times over the past few years have the other teams offense had 4-5 wide out formations and we didin't even have 5 defensive backs in the game because there weren't enough athletes to put out there?

Dodge will get it done. By 2010 when this class is Junior's and redshirt sophomores, this team will be a monster!

  4. Well at least it's more interesting than Dickeyball. I used to ignore out of conference games because we had no chance. But now, even though we have no chance, maybe we'll set some kind of record for most points allowed in a game, or half or quarter, or maybe a Ripley's believe it or not like, "OOC Team X scored touchdowns on 15 consecutive plays against North Texas in 2007" Believe it or Not!

  5. Take for what it's worth, but according to rivals.com, Todd Dodge is our leading candidate:

The latest: (12:07 p.m. ET, 12/4/06) Sources say Dodge has emerged as the top candidate for the position. His team remains in the Texas state playoffs.

Well other than the fact it might mean waiting 3 more weeks for an announcement, I would be big time on board with Dodge.

It could be huge for our program and the short time wait now doesn't matter to me if the long term means wins.

  6. Todd Dodge is by far the best option for the job for Publicity. Most NT alums live in the DFW area and Dodge will get the attention of all of them. He was the name my wife suggested when I told her Dickey was fired. And no she is not a football guru, her comment was something like "They should get that coach from Southlake Carroll who always wins"

Hopefully he gets the job and turns out to be the best man for the job.

  7. If we hire this guy, I still get to cancel my season tickets and spend the money on something else. It's funny a couple of weeks ago my wife was thinking about what I could spend that money on because we didn't think Dickey would be removed. Then he gets fired and we were like, oh well I guess we do have to keep the tickets, well now I'm thinking we might be canceling them after all. What a roller coaster for my wallet.

  8. Im actually really impressed.  The defense looks so much better than last year, huge improvement.  If we can just stop punting from the fricken endzone we could try and make some ground.

oh...and of course Phillips has to stop throwing the ball on the ground.  ( brings back memories from last season )  We'll see how ole Woody does.

Are you serious? The offense can't even get a first down. It's pathetic.

  9. It's hard to know what to expect since college football teams change so much from year to year. However I expect this -

    Sept 2nd - UT: L - 59-0

    Sept 9th - SMU: L - 38-13

    Sept 16th -Tulsa: L - 29-10

    Sept 23rd - Akron: L - 20-17

    Sept 30th - MTSU: W - 14-13

    Oct 7th - FIU: W - 21-17

    Oct 21st - Ark State: L - 30-28

    Oct 28th - Troy: L - 34-17

    Nov 4th - La Tech: L- 40-20

    Nov 11th - La. Lafayette: L - 30-14

    Nov 18th - Fla. Atlantic: W- 19-12

    Nov 25th - La. Monroe: W- 20-10

    4-8

    No wins in OOC games.

74 throw the ball chants at Fouts

  10. Ah, Marcus Camper. The wideout Johnny Quinn most reminds me of. Throw it up and they would both go get it.

The main thing I remember from that game was please put one, two, three spies, whatever it takes on Metcalf. Even with the refs Texas would have lost that game without him. We had no answer.

  11. Friends, I just joined a new sports site that you may want to check out. It is sort of a my space type site dedicated to adult sports fans called fanspot.com

You can check it out here:

    www.Fanspot.com

There is no spam and nothing to download! I worked on it personally and we finally released nationally last week at a sports convention in Anaheim.

It's perfect for trash talking, creating rivalries and supporting your favorite teams (besides UNT.) You can also create custom groups and forums, upload photo galleries, create challenges, and more!

After you sign-up, join the Mean Green Group I set-up also.

Please check it my page there My Fanspot, I think you will like it...You'll notice I found a MTSU fan to harass already cool.gif

  12. Not sure what to think, if Johnny is around next year it saves me several hundred dollars on season tickets again I don't have to buy. However, I do like basketball and would like to see some.

Even though my pocketbook disagrees, I say fire him so I can go to games again.

And just to be safe, since it seems there is some kind of unwritten law I don't want to break somewhere, that all posts must include this phrase I'll add - JJ is a nice man but ...

  13. First of all, I had no problem at all with Watson's lay in with 3.2 left.  That was a very high percentage shot that will win the game in that situation 9 times out of 10.

About the final play, the problem wasn't if the inbounds pass was guarded or not.  It was with the lack of aggresiveness by four of the players on the court who essentially stood there and watched Winchester do his thing.  That was not the first time of that game or this season that style of defense has been displayed.

It should never have come to that though.  The substitution patterns and as usual-the use of timeouts were perlpexing the whole game.  Most teams would lose some edge after going up that big that early, but some of that mentality was encouraged by the coaching style during that time.  They should have kept the pedal to the metal, not go to all D-no O lineups and running the same tired play again and again on offense (which WKU had learned so well by the end of the first half, they were beating NT to their spots).  This was a good program in WKU they were playing, not SOSU.

Once again, the defensive rebounding was lackluster.  Even my wife, who doesn't even really like hoops, and knows nothing about it, asked "why do we keep letting them get it back?"  Between that and the silly fouls giving Winchester two consecutive and 1's and getting guys in foul trouble, the discipline on this team is spotty at best.  The turnover story backs up that point as well.

A loss like this is tough, but you just have to hope that the team learned some lessons from it that will prevent it from happening again.

I'm sure they did learn some things, problem is we'll still have Johnny on the bench at the next game, and he still won't adjust to the game situations, and he'll still make weird substitutions and we'll still lose, unless they totally suck like NMSU.

  14. I would like to say "great job" to the Pit Crew.  The fat woman in a tutu costume that Cerebus posted a picture of was hilarious.  What was slightly disturbing was Scrappy's strong attraction to it, and, for lack of a better word, fondling of it.  Once agan, the puppets were good and need to stay.

As far as the game, I feel like we need to make strides recruiting to be near the level that ULL is at.  We are just not there right now.

I also feel that this team can still make a run, once the shots from Hopkins and others are going in.  While our program is not to ULL or WKU's level, this season is far from a mail in.

What were everyone's thoughts about the game?

Am I the only one who becomes more impressed with Isaac Hines every time I see him play?

**Didn't realize I posted this in the stadium/logo board.  Oops!  ph34r.gif

What makes you think Hopkins shots are going to start going in. He's shooting 36% for the season 25% from 3.

Meanwhile, our entire offense flows through him, and he can't really hit a shot.
