We threw one forward pass in that game? Good to see Seth honor our school's history by using the same offense for this season.

If Seth is replaced and the replacement does worse, would you admit that you put your animosity towards Seth over what would’ve been best for the university?
It would be difficult to be worse than we've been over the past three years.

Seems like the article is saying half the coaches in college football are candidates for the VA Tech job. I guess if you suggest enough names one is likely to hit and you can say "See, I told you so!"

Seth was lucky when he found Mason Fine in his first recruiting class. He is the only real D1 QB Seth has brought into the program.

It didn't last. It got worse for Texas.

Ummm, The Drive.
Outside of that, I agree with everything you posted.
I forgot about that. I supposed I just remember our side of The Drive, not who we were going against.

For the record, I don't see on this board people still saying UTSA hasn't "earned" the right to be a rival. I don't consider them a rival because I just don't care about them. There's nothing in our history with them that makes me look forward to that game. It seems every year either one of us is really bad or both teams are bad. There are no real memorable games with them.
What I despise is how some, including Vito, have banged the drum for them to be our "rival" from the beginning of CUSA. You cannot dictate to fans what teams will be rivals of each other. A true rivalry can only be developed over time or with meaningful games and both of those are lacking when it comes to UTSA.

Anybody else notice there were NO TURNOVERS in this game.
Also, our run-run-run offense in overtime worked beautifully.
Yep. So glad we replaced Dan McCarney's ball control offense for a head coach who likes to tee it high and let it fly.
Wait ...

I expect CUSA to find a way to survive.

Our coaching salaries need to be among the best in AAC.

That fact that we have about a .500 record for our history despite the past few decades shows how good our teams were for a long time.

I do not see a late season winning streak in our future. Do You?
Based on records, USM and FIU are our best shots at a win. Not sure how good Rice is so maybe the next two weeks is our chance to get a two game winning streak.
-
We're now entering the easy part of our schedule.
@Rice 3-4
@USM 1-6
UTEP 6-1
FIU 1-6
UTSA 7-0
We may see another few wins but hopefully leadership has seen enough to know that a late season winning streak isn't going keep Seth.

With all due respect?
Yes, I respect Parker's ability to lose games because of his dumb decisions.

Dennis Parker went 11-21-1.
I was at UNT for the Dennis Parker years. He was one of the dumbest coaches I've ever seen.

Is recruiting our #1 problem?
According to 247 our classes have ranked:
2018 #8
2019 #4
2020 #2
2021 #1
Seems to me our recruiting the past 3 years has been the best in CUSA. How do we get someone to get us better classes than #1 in the conference?
This also highlights how a good coach can win big NEXT season. This is not a rebuild.
*edit: something I thought of looking at those class rankings...that's another bullet point on selling this job to an established good coach. A coach that some think "no way we could get that guy." And also one that a coach can look past this "dead end job" and think "I will be the one to make UNT realize their potential."
This new coach will be walking into:
1. top facilities
2. high end money/salaries
3. administrative support
4. upgraded conference
5. a room full of highly rated athletes already here
6. I can put those 5 things together and supplement with a few big time transfers and win IMMEDIATELY
It's weird that as our recruiting has improved our team hasn't. One big issue is we don't have another Mason Fine. Seth's first recruiting class was not good overall but he did hit on the most important position, QB.
So either the issues is coaching / player development or the players we got were not worthy of their recruiting status. I'd imagine it's some of both.

Ok, I guess a lot of coaches still around from RV's reign of terror. Maybe he was more of an oly sport coach hiring aficionado. Key point being that Littrell was RV's last hire before Wren got here.
Technically, Women's Golf coach Michael Akers was the last hire before Wren took over. Not sure who made the call on that.

When this move is eventually made, will it be the last remaining RV hire* or do we still have some oly coaches that were hired by RV? Will we once and for all be past the craptacular RV hires?
*not including Jalie
Football: Seth Littrell - December, 2015, about six months before Wren took over
Women's BBall: Jalie Mitchell - hired 2015
Womens' Soccer: John Hedlund - hired 1995
Tennis: Sujay Lama - 15 years
Men's Golf: Brad Stracke - hired 2008
Women's Golf: Michael Akers - May 2016, about one month before Wren started
Track - Carl Sheffield, 9th season in charge
Out of 12 teams, seven head coaches were hired before Wren started.

Some guy on the ponyfans board actually commented that UTSA had facilities on par with some P5's. It amazes me how much many people outside of the area want to raise up the overall level of UTSA Athletics and their facilities when discussing UTSA
I guess they never visited their gym.

I don't think we have to add a sport. I believe we have enough numbers to add baseball alone.

I love that we finished strong but our steak in the second half of the season benefited from playing a lot of horrible teams. I'd prefer to make a change but I understand if they let him come back.
However, DO NOT give him a contract extension!
