Never happen. FBS is all about limiting competition to the P5 conferences. They aren't going to include G5s, even though it would be hugely beneficial to college football as a whole. But the P5s don't care about college football as a whole.
Anyone else think UH coulda given OU and run for their money?
But the P5, with assistsnxe from ESPN (knowingly or not), is only concerned about separation from the G5 in order to have ALL the money. Too bad they don't see how much more money having the little guy in the tournament would generate (see basketball championship tournament). I guess they are all afraid of losing to a Boise or a UH in this type of tourney.
I think UH would have given OU all they wanted .

UH looked good today. Saw where their recruiting is ranked higher than Texas.
And with sugar daddy Fertitta heading up the BOR, UH will hang on to Herman for a while.
Understand their recruiting class is ranked 3rd right now.

I'm only interested if he's related to the Million Dollar Man Ted Dibiase. We need more donors y'all.
There ya go,Ted was a former QB at West Texas State before he became a pro wrestler. I was wondering if the kid was related.

He completed 47.7% of his passes; DaMarcus completed 46.9%.
It's a push. We're obviously not getting a JUCO at the break. So, what would it hurt to bring in another guy who can't hit 50% of his passes?
I swear, some people here are like beaten dogs. Any QB anywhere who transfers has them salivating. If Littrell and his staff ever get around to recruiting, let's hope he gets someone better than guys that we already know weren't able to do the job somewhere else.
Cannot recruit until the end of the dead period.

But look at the record vs. NAIA and DIII schools. wow

Not being able to recruit to Denton (UNT) is bull crap. If you can recruit to Waco, Lubbock, Stillwater, or to Iowa State you can dang sure recruit to UNT.

I'd say I'd love for him to bring Ben Simmons with him, but you guys would find a way to ruin that
Simmons will be gone before JJ.

@flyonthewall regarding future scheduling, has there been any discussion of eliminating paycheck games? There could be a lot of goodwill created if we take a stand and announce that we will be eliminating future games that do not involve a return home game for UNT. It seems to be that announcing the elimination of the paycheck game by the Athletic Department would rank right up there with allowing tailgating as a positive change that will affect the program.
If not, what is the argument to keep them?
There seem to be quite a few people that see the continuation of the paycheck game as being a large roadblock to building support (better chance of wins, improved home schedule, increased season ticket sales, MGC membership, public perception, etc...).
Any thoughts?V
RV told us several years ago that we would only play schools that would agree to home and home games. Also , said preparations for Christmas would not began until after Thanksgiving.

Thanks for a real football post.

I once read that back in Bear Bryants hay day, one reason he was so successful was because he recruited all high school qbs. Knowing in that time that the best athlete on the team played Qb it made sense. He would then use these kids to play all the skill positions on his teams.
Well ill that's happening again to a degree at Mississippi State and I think we should strongly consider going after one of their coaches. I'd say coordinator but I am not sure either would jump ship to come to UNT. Take a look at:
Manny Diaz - likely too high profile
Tony Hughes - establish & excellent recruiter
Greg Knox - Sp Tm Coord Texas ties also (rosebud)
All
All in all a long shot but their recruiting philosophy is one we should lean to
The way remember it ,after UT put a whupping on Alabama, Bear ask Royal how he recruited such good players, Royal told him that he only recruited QB's to play the skill positions and FB's to play in the line.

wow what a brilliant lazy schedule, Lamar backs out, but instead of searching the 125+ FBS teams, nope lets just go get a weak ass MEAC team. Now Bethune Cookman will fill the stadium for sure.
Denton High School is much closer and would have drawn more fans.

First thing that has to be done to take into consideration is what type of talent you have available and what are their abilities.

I think Nutt's been out of the game too long. We should be able to do better, no need to prematurely bust a Nutt. Wait until the season's over and see what's available...
And kill a whole year of recruiting ?

If not for the secondary our defense would not have recorded any tackles last night.

Santa Anna , TX. Former home of the world.s fastest man Joe Bailey Cheaney, birthplace of Bobby Layne and home of the Santa Anna Mountains and the Santa Anna Mountaineers . Farming, oil, and a few downtown merchants, when I was in high school the major employer was the Santana Tile Co. The high school has dropped down to six man football and a school pop. of about 40 .Growing up , you could have a great date for a dollar. Gas 12 cents , drive in tickets at Cole-Anna drive in .25 cents popcorn 5 cents. Also my first pizza was purchased at the Cole-Anna .25 cents. We built a new football stadium when I was a junior, spend half of our time during two-a-days picking up rocks from the new playing field. Water was a no-no during practice, and since it was during the terrible drought of the 50's , water was very precious. We hauled water for our home in the back of a pickup in 55 gal. barrels, we got the water from the cotton gin. The good old days ?

I was very surprised this morning when I opened the Denton paper and saw a photo of Mike Motheral, who is the chairman of the UIL athletic committee. I had the privilege of coaching and teaching Mike many years ago. We have remained close friends since that time . He recently retired as Supt. of the Sundown ISD . I will add he is one of the finest people you will ever meet and he is one of the reasons I look back on my school career with many fond memories.
Excuse me for getting personal.

I don't know how much (or if) Baylor is worse on D than they were last season, but it is very clear that succesfully defending SMUs improved new offense is almost entierly dependent on succeeding at one on one tackling, and Baylor is failing badly in that department so far.
Remember Baylor had two defensive starters out for this game including All-American Oakman. They will play next week.
-
I don't remember but why did he decide to leave the program after last season?
He graduated.

However, the maximum number of recruits is 25 per year. Must be expecting a lot of the signees not meet entrance requirements.

And you can bet your bottom $ that no one in Denton will complain about drilling in the city limits.
