  1. When you just went 1-11 Talent > Character If we don't give him a shot I bet we play him, I hope he doesn't have any talent because our QB situation could be the same as it was this year.
  2. I'm not saying if he walked in the front door with my daughter (she's only two so it would be quite strange but say she's a twenty something in this case) I'd welcome him to the family but if he could provide a year of support to the football team I support I might take on the project of helping a young man better his life potentially. It's a win win for UNT they ask him to walk on and if he's good they get another year to develop Fine, if he goes all Ryan Leaf then damn we asked a guy to come to Denton and spend money at our school but we have a great Blue Chipper ready to start as a red shirt freshman and will be our leader for four years in Fine (we can always hope and dream).
  3. I really hope Mason Fine turns into a great QB but after this season with Morris he is the only real talent we have so why not give this guy this guy an invite and see what he can do, I mean we can't be too picky with who we bring in and give another shot too. I guess a better plan would be hope there will be Mini Mac part 2 coming down the pipeline.
  4. I know we have a ton of QB attention recently and we don't want to go all A&M by getting too many bodies for one position BUT it is our biggest need coming out of the last two years. This guy may not be someone we want to represent UNT but it probably would be worth a telephone call to see if he would be interested in Denton and bring him in as a preferred walk-on at the least. Here are the highlights from the ESPN story: "The Missouri Tigers on Thursday dismissed junior quarterback Maty Mauk from the football team for "violating team rules," new coach Barry Odom announced. Odom said Thursday he met with Mauk in December and gave him a fresh start, but Missouri suspended Mauk again this week after a brief video was posted on social media. It shows a person believed to be Mauk appearing to snort a white, powderlike substance, and an accompanying tweet mentioned Mauk by name, but there was no confirmation from Missouri that the video was of him. Mauk has a 17-5 record as Missouri's starter. In the four games he played last season, Mauk guided the Tigers to a 3-1 record and passed for 654 yards with six touchdowns and four interceptions." http://espn.go.com/college-football/story/_/id/14666830/missouri-tigers-dismiss-quarterback-maty-mauk-investigating-video
  5. I live in Montana and haven't heard anything about football until last week, my wife said the same thing and she has zero interest in football but you can get the Griz/Cats game on six channels but no UNT the powerhouse of the metroplex. It is unexplainable that week in and week out our TV coverage gets screwed with.
  6. all you Derek Thompson apologists need to open your eyes we aren't winning because of him, we won despite his short falls, lets move on to the next era because today is just as good as any because he has been terrible from the opening kick
  7. Did another part of Fouts fall apart? Does anyone know why down, distance and yard line are the only things showing on the north scoreboard?
  8. What do you want to attribute these to? Freak accidents...there is no way we can have 9 possibly 10 people out with season ending injuries out of freak accidents. It comes down to the fact that their bodies aren't ready for the heavy contact and difficult jobs they are doing, these kids are busting their butts to help this team improve on game day but Sunday-Friday they aren't tuning their bodies for the physical stress they are going to go through.
  9. He doesn't need a mulligan for this, isn't the off season and practice suppose to get players for game day. This amount of injuries really shows a lake of preparation and stamina. For the last three years I have attended football games and watched them on TV, I have seen nice improvements on defense, but they eventually break because they are on the field all day in their own territory. Our special teams might as well not exist we haven't had any positive returns at all this season. Our offense needs a line to block for the QB, no matter who it is, till then we don't know what we have besides a great runner who the opponents haven't had great luck stopping. Todge and Rodge need to move on and maybe we can get our program into a building stage. Carroll is a great high school football team but it just hasn't worked here sorry Todge but you are a good fit for UNT.
