  1. "I get that we'd like to win more games," Glass said. "But I also think you just can't overstate the impact of Nate going down." The play in which Sudfeld was hurt took Indiana out of bowl contention. The other fateful play was a pass-turned-fumble that contributed to a 42-39 loss to Minnesota last year. The Hoosiers were driving toward a tying or winning score that would have given them the necessary six wins to qualify for a bowl game. Glass conceded "it's kind of loser talk" to bring up those plays but said Indiana is making progress elsewhere. He said he is "bullish" on the talent on Indiana's roster. Football insiders have told him Indiana had a bowl team before Sudfeld was hurt. Glass said he hadn't read a story on Sports Illustrated's website reporting Wilson likely would be fired. He said that report, and rumors that Wilson was looking to leave Indiana for a coordinator's job, could have been planted by adversaries who count on beating Indiana every year. 2. 1. The general feeling is that Kevin Wilson has Indiana on the right track. What are reasonable expectations for this season, and are the Hoosiers a rising team in the Big Ten? Are they rising? Yes. Exactly how fast they're rising is a different question. The climbing will always be steep for Indiana, simply because the Hoosiers don't have a lot of historical success or, comparatively, the war chest that Michigan, Ohio State, Penn State, etc. do. They're never going to be able to recruit with the superpowers. They're always going to need a lot of breaks to go their way and historically, fate has been pretty cruel to the Hoosiers. (For the latest example, see the fumbled lateral against Minnesota that cost them a bowl trip.) Read more: http://www.cleveland.com/osu/index.ssf/2014/07/5_questions_about_indiana_an_i.html
  3. As we reported earlier today, Noah Joseph is leaving UNT after two highly successful seasons to join the staff at Indiana. Joseph was UNT’s safeties coach and will serve in the same capacity with the Hoosiers. He was also UNT’s recruiting coordinator. Now that I have made it to Miami, I have had a chance to gather my material from interviews with both Joseph and McCarney. Here’s a little more on the situation. Joseph is from Zanesville, Ohio, which is about four and a half hours away from Indiana. He’s a Midwest, Big Ten kind of guy. “Coaching in the Big Ten was attractive and so is coaching at Indiana, which has an exciting team,” Joseph said. “They are on the verge of a turnaround like we had last season.” And while he wouldn’t go into specifics, Joseph said money was also a factor. read more: http://meangreenblog.dentonrc.com/2014/02/joseph-mccarney-talk-about-assistants-move-to-indiana.html/
