  1. http://www.sbnation.com/nfl/2015/8/30/9225131/2015-nfl-roster-cuts-tracker-75-man-deadline As of now, no UNT players have been in the first round of cuts. Hopefully this continues through the 3 PM deadline!
  2. The roster additions, announced Monday by general manager Mickey Loomis, include Hocker, linebacker Henry Coley, offensive lineman Antonio Johnson and receiver Kyle Prater. Morgan was drafted by San Francisco in 2008. He played four seasons with the 49ers, two seasons with Washington and with Chicago last season. He has 209 career receptions for 2,558 yards and 12 touchdowns. Coley, Johnson and Prater were undrafted rookies. Coley had eight sacks last season at Virginia. Johnson was a four-year starter at North Texas. Prater led Northwestern in receiving in 2014. 3. Offensive lineman Cyril Lemon signed with the New Orleans Saints, Derek Akunne went to the Atlanta Falcons and Antonio Johnson landed with the NY Jets. Great careers for all three of them and we all wish them the best at the next level! GMG This post has been promoted to an article
  4. Another NFL draft is in the books. North Texas didnt have a player selected, extending its drought that dates back to 2004, when Cody Spencer was selected. But lets get to the good news. UNT had three players picked up as undrafted free agents. We mentioned two earlier in the day offensive lineman Cyril Lemon signed with the New Orleans Saints, while Derek Akunne went to the Atlanta Falcons. 5. UNT went through its final scrimmage before its spring game next week today. We kept a running blog going throughout the proceedings. I shot a little video with Dan McCarney, who gave his thoughts on where things stand at this point. It’s at the top of this post. And now for some thoughts. The story of the day was the improvement of UNT’s defense, which is what I wrote about for tomorrow’s paper. There are a few news tidbits I wanted to get to before then, starting with some injury/who’s not playing information. 6. North Texas juggled the lineup on its offensive front in a loss to Georgia on Saturday and could end up using the same mix of players in its Conference USA opener against Tulane. That wouldn’t be the optimal situation for UNT, but it’s not one head coach Dan McCarney would be completely uncomfortable with as the Mean Green waits for Antonio Johnson to return. UNT lost its starting left tackle to injury in a win over Ball State on Sept. 14. The junior did not play against the Bulldogs and could be out when the Mean Green visits the Green Wave on Oct. 5. McCarney’s policy is to not reveal the nature of injuries unless they are season-ending, but he did say that Johnson underwent a minor procedure. UNT filled the void left by Johnson’s absence by moving right guard Cyril Lemon to right tackle in place of LaChris Anyiam, who shifted to left tackle. Backup center Shawn McKinney took Lemon’s place at right guard. McCarney was happy for the most part with the way UNT’s line performed. “We are building some depth because of injuries,” McCarney said. “McKinney did a lot of really good things.” Read more: http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/north-texas-headlines/20130925-unt-notebook-unt-could-use-new-o-line-set-against-tulane.ece
  7. Football Johnson day-to-day UNT’s bye week is coming at a good time for offensive lineman Antonio Johnson. Johnson, UNT’s starting left tackle, was injured in the Mean Green’s win over Ball State on Sept. 14 and missed last week’s 45-21 loss to ninth-ranked Georgia after undergoing a minor surgical procedure. Head coach Dan McCarney does not reveal the nature of injuries unless they are season-ending. He expressed confidence that Johnson will be back at some point this season. “It’s day-to-day,” McCarney said. “The good news is that it is not season-ending. He will be back. It’s just a matter of when.” Read more: http://www.dentonrc.com/sports/colleges/north-texas-headlines/20130923-notebook-unt-men-land-one-of-texas-top-players.ece
  8. We couldn't run the ball. Anyone hear what it was? Hope he's back by Tulane!
