Fire Baker?  Some of you have me shaking my head.

I don't want Wren gone, but I do expect him to fix this situation. That's his job.

If we have to wait until Littrell's contract is up to find a coach that can earn a $1.865 million salary, than our team will be playing in front of COVID sized crowds long after the pandemic is over. UNT can't afford to flush another decade down the toilet.

Right now, Wren won't even address the problem. That has me concerned. If he can't or won't fix it, than yeah fans will turn on him too. Sure other sports are good or improving, but this is Texas and football is everything. I can't imagine most hard core season ticket holders are willing to endure 3 more seasons of this crap.

  2. Littrell is not another Benford. Benford never won anything. Littrell is another McCarney. He came in to a situation that was a basket case and won with the fired coach's players. But neither was able to recruit well enough on the lines to win once they lost the last guy's talent. Littrell had two 9 win seasons early, and Mac had a bowl trophy early, but neither were able to sustain success.

    Moving on.....

After reading this link on the UNT future facility's manifesto I had no idea that Apogee Stadium’s giant video screen will be moved (but I’d bet replaced by a much larger one)?

    https://dentonrc.com/news/unt-to-unveil-facility-master-plan-for-athletics-this-morning/article_27318cfb-730c-5706-a9d9-3c7437bc246c.html

    GMG!

No. The plan as I understand it is to replace the large scoreboard with 4 (1 in the corner of each end zone, and all of them roughly the same size of our current main board). Also, I believe the athletic center remodel will cause the facility to extend much closer to Apogee's south end zone, with multiple views of the field. If I looked at the renderings correctly, the new football locker room will be a 2 story space with an underground tunnel leading to the field. I imagine the players lounge will be on the 2nd story with a view of the field. If we actually get this, it will be amazing. But, with COVID and the current state of the Mean Green football program, I'd bet we'll be waiting quite a while.

I’m not feeling very pro-Seth today but last season he showed he would hold people accountable. Bodie Reeder knows, as well as others.

Littrell has already fired coordinators in an attempt to right the ship. It failed. Now his replacement has failed. It is time to hold Littrell accountable.

Good enough to win if the defense wasn’t horrible. (offense better with Aune than Bean, no doubt)

Yes if we’re only counting points for 3/4 of each game (btw even more points if special teams played better). Those are enough points for a team to win more than 1 game if their defense is halfway decent and not giving up 30+ per game. (Last 3 games we’ve given up 65, 41, and 49 points)

For the record, I wanted to hire Tyrone Nix to be our DC.

I have no clue why people thought a DC from Kansas was going to be good for North Texas. I believe a major portion of our defensive problems are a direct result of Littrell's bad hire. Bowen has been a complete failure at UNT.

  6. On the drive home, I listened to the post game interview with Seth. It lasted about half a minute with no hard questions. Just coach speak, and no mention of defense. Littrell doesn't have a clue how to fix this, and he has probably lost the team.

I looked for Baker on the sideline in the second half of the game, but could not find him. I wish Vito would ask Baker what he plans to do about our dumpster fire of a football program.

We aren’t firing Seth for at least this year and next. Not happening. Too much money. Seth is going to have to figure shit out.

If this is the case, than Wren is going to have a rough two years. We just finished the easier portion of the schedule. When we return to Apogee on Nov. 7th, we will likely still be looking for our first conference win, or win over any FBS program for that matter. If Littrell thinks the fans were hard on him tonight, just wait until they show up with signs for the TV cameras. Wren can't afford to ignore this problem. The negative press will be horrible. This is going to end up like the McCarney situation if Baker doesn't figure out how to remove Littrell.

The time for change is now. Littrell has lost the fan base, and probably the team. I think fans would calm down if Wren announced that Littrell would not be returning after the conclusion of this season. That would give Baker plenty of time to start scouting for a replacement. And if Littrell's pride can't handle that arrangement he can do us all a favor and quit.

TV isn't our problem.  Lack of WINNING is the issue.

The only TV we belong on right now is Saturday Nightmare Showcase.

If SL was getting the results expected of a $1.8M coach, going 10-2, 11-1, etc. with bowl game wins, we'd have a chance at being attractive to better TV markets.  Yeah, CUSA sucks, but we're doing as much as anybody else in making it that way.

A few things stick out about his last 14 games.

    1. it's not that he loses....it's that he's not even competitive. averaging getting beaten by nearly 3 TDS per game in that span.

    2. the defense is obviously bad....but where's the offense from this "offensive coach?" 24 points per game when he's not playing FCS or the UTEPs of the world

And, North Texas pays Littrell more than Notre Dame pays Brian Kelly, and more than Boise State pays Bryan Harsin. Yet, some still make excuses for these results. Baker has to demand better from the highest paid employee at UNT.

Our football program has become one of the weakest links within our athletic department. It seems like most of the other sports are among the best in C-USA or at the least improving.

I like it. But, if they are going to send out models of Apogee, I hope the new model reflects the look after the athletic center expansion. That might help generate donor interest in the project. That is my opinion anyway.

  11. Reality check....

We have a very high probability of losing to Charlotte this Saturday night on national TV. Just 7 years ago, Charlotte played their 1st football season as an FCS independent. That same season we beat UNLV in the Heart of Dallas Bowl.

These facts should not set well with any North Texas fan. Someone at the athletic department needs to answer for this.

So Sonny is in his 3rd year at SMUt.  Seems Seth had a pretty good start to his third year too, though not ranked.  Perspective.

Okay. Here is some honest perspective on Seth's 3rd season at North Texas. Brace yourself.....

In Seth's 3rd season his team beat total of 1 FBS program that went on to finish their season with a winning record (Southern Miss finished with a record of 6-5 and no bowl game). None of the other teams we beat in Littrell's 3rd season finished their season with a winning record. In fact the combined record of those programs we beat was 36-70. That means those teams won just under 40% of their games that season. They were not good teams. This is a big reason why Utah State was able to destroy our team 52-13 in the New Mexico Bowl.

I don't write this to diminish what our team did that season. We played the teams that took the field, and that is all we can do. But, when you look at the overall quality of the programs we beat, they just were not very good. Sadly, I doubt our current team could not win half of those game right now. And, that is why Seth has lost some support. It is simple. We should not be this bad in Littrell's 5th season as our coach.

With this perspective in mind, I think it is obvious that Dykes has SMU far ahead of where Littrell has North Texas, and he has done it in less time.

Do I need to get on to both of you now? 😆  *see previous response*
(Though I do tend to agree I don't believe he has earned that kind of salary, but again - Not the way to express disapproval of that 😉 )

Fans are openly revolting at the games. No one is questionings Seth about his coaching or his lack of success in relation to his salary. Not Barnett and not Vito. Wren isn't addressing it either. Fans just want some acknowledgement that the administration recognizes the problems fans have and will fix it. You can't blame fans for airing their grievances through the only avenue available. If you have another way, that will not be ignored, I'd be glad to listen.

  14. 1. Southern Miss isn't that good: We made them look good, but I'd be surprised if they finish ahead of UAB, LA Tech, or even UTSA in the western division standings .

    2. Littrell got schooled in every possible way: We just lost to a USM team that had multiple players including key starters quit their team. Their coach even left their team following week 1 of the season. Also, their interim coach was their OC, and he is about the same age as our starting QB. You can't make this crap up.

    3. Our RB's did well tonight: Patrick Cobbs is a heck of an RB coach. That is about the only positive I can point to offensively.

    4. Bean should have been given a shot at some point in the game: Aune put it on the ground twice tonight and missed open receivers down field. Would Bean really have been any worse?

    5. Our team is soft: On one play our RB was fighting to get a first down and linemen were just standing there looking at him. Are they not coached to move the pile?

    6. Littrell is overpaid: Seth is the highest paid coach in C-USA, and I seriously doubt this team will even finish in the middle of the pack.

    7. I'm going to have plenty of leg room next week for Charlotte: And not because of social distancing.
