  1. Since the NCAA has rescinded the 5/8 rule, that opened up another 'ship for us to give out. Anyone hearing anything? Are we courting some jucos? High Schoolers? Maybe Transfer players? Any news on this would be appreciated.
  2. I'm not a NASCAR fan, but from what I understand, they have secured a 2nd Nextel Cup race for the track starting with the 2005 season. The 2nd race is, I believe scheduled for November of 2005. I believe that we should avoid, at all costs, playing a home game on that weekend. On the Saturdays, they hold their Busch series race which draws over 100,000.....and it would really tie up I-35W and probably some of I-35E for that matter. (Not to mention taking up probably every hotel room in Denton). I guess, if worse came to worse....we could play on a Thursday night, but IMHO, we should avoid that weekend altogether. Agree or disagree.......
  3. From what I've been able to gather.....they are interviewing a couple of guys who have ties to ULL (one is an Oklahoma State asst. coach; the other is the guy who is their interim coach). JJ isn't even being considered for this job.
  4. (This is info about Eric Dawson, the PF from McLennan that we are in on. Some good schools are after him, as you can see. Would love to see us add him, especially if he gets his grades taken care of): Bio Notes: Eric Dawson is one of the better big men in the JC Class of 2004. Dawson, a 6-8, 215 pound combo forward from McLennan College in Waco, Tex., is a skilled post with the ability to face the basket. Dawson projects as a mid to high Division I basketball prospect, but graduation issues could sidetrack his arrival at the D-I level. Schools in the Running: Houston, Texas Tech, UNLV, Arkansas St., Arkansas-LR, Louisiana-Laf., North Texas, Texas Christian (information courtesy of Russ Blake at JUCO Junction)
  5. Update: From what I've been able to find out, JeKel has visited Ohio State. He is a heckuva recruit.
  6. For some great photos of Je Kel.......check out this page. Also, I envy this jucos fan support at their b-ball games. here's the page: http://www.chipola.edu/extrac/athl/basketb...hotogallery.htm
  7. You're thinking of Sean "Big City" Riley who lasted three years, before transferring to Illinois State, when Jankovich was fired. Sean was a very bright kid, and planned on being a doctor. Can you imagine a doctor who's a 7-footer?
  8. I'm guessing that you mean Jason Miller. Right?
  9. According to the Sun Belt official site....next year's SBC basketball tournaments will be played on the campuses of UNT and TWU. I'm guessing that they will just have the women's games (some of them) over there at TWU. But, to me......ALL GAMES SHOULD BE PLAYED AT THE SUPER PIT. Last I checked TWU wasn't in the Sun Belt. But, hey maybe Wright Waters has added them for football in 2007.
  10. I think, after seeing who ULL drew in the first round, that they have a better shot, than I originally did. I personally think the ACC is over-rated this year. I think they can at least play with NC State for a while anyway. Anyway, I sure hope that the Cajuns make us proud---would love to see them win at least one game. That being said....I'll say NC State 73 ULL 66
  11. Yes there are upsets in "The Big Dance." There just aren't ever any that are pulled off by teams from our league. The last time a Belt team won a first round game----1994. And there have a been a lot of more recent Belt teams that are better reps than this year's ULL squad. BTW, folks....I hope I have to eat these words. I pull for our conference mates. So, I hope you're right, I really do. But, I still say ULL loses in round 1 and it won't even be close. GMG AND GULL!
  12. No way will ULL make it to the Sweet 16 or Elite 8. If they win one NCAA tourney game (very doubtful) that would be a huge accomplishment. (I don't care what the eSPN announcers might have said). Remember ULL lost to US? Remember? Prediction: ULL loses by between 15-25 points in the first round game.
  13. Coach Slinker is a very nice lady, but her overall record is so bad that they don't even have it at the official site. You can determine from the official site that she now has 152 wins in 15 seasons. (141 on the site, plus this year's 11). So, she is averaging 10 wins a season. Since you normally play 27 games or so a year, that mean's her average record is about 10-17 each season. Guesstimate for her overall record: 152-260. (260 derived by multiplying 17 x 15, and adding a few more losses for postseason games). 152-260 or worse. At least 100 games UNDER .500. Need I say more?
