  1. Micah is doing great. Graduates this May with his Mechanical Energy Engineering degree in hand with 3.6 gpa.... Anyone looking for a young engineer hook em up....Went to the Houston game with Micah and could see the pride he has in his team and school. Rough 4 years with injuries. Strange feeling looking out on the field and not seeing your son play for the first time since he was 8 yr old. miss it, but then again it was fun in the stands with him...
  2. Ole hometown newspapers spin on it... My link
  3. Jim Leavitt WILL BE the next head coach at UNT. Good luck!!
  4. I didn't see a pick for "none of the above". lol
  5. These are the facts: 1. Brought in a proven college DC 2. Brought in proven college position coaches 3. Brought in a college strength coach just for football team 4. Brought in a proven OC 5. Gave up offense completely 6. Recruited a nationally ranked kicker Debate what? Facts or facts the only fact you hang you hat on is the past. I say the present would have changed due to the healthy team we started the season with. there is not one Sun Belt team who could beat us if you take the same player for player, positon for position off the field. Again, i fully understand now who I'm wasting my time with. By the way, isn't it time for bed?
  6. Wasn't that the game we lost our 1st and 2nd string QB and had to play the 3rd string to finish the game? That might have had something to do with it plus going behind two scores early in the game.
  7. Totally agree with all the past years, the last three years, terrible, no reason why it should have been that bad, totally agree. now, look at the freaking changes that have been made over those years. All the right things have been done to correct the problem. program is better now, team was prepped to show you how much better it was. so now look at the program today. Dickey won 2 games one year and 3 the other during his last two years of coaching at North Texas. dodge walked into a system which was already losing. I agree with someone elses post, there were some great players on those teams. To me it's simple, I look at where the program is today, not at the bad years getting here but where it is today and all the changes made to get it here.
  8. program wasn't winning when he got here, took three years to turn it around, it turned around but injuries took away the chance to prove it on the field. simple if you look at it with football since. Ask any coach across the country who has had to deal with this they would agree. Program is better today than it was three years ago. simple.
  9. Do you really understand how good this team was set to be? NO YOU DON'T GET IT. no one will because this team didn't get a chance to prove it on the field due to the freaking injuries. Big difference in my job and a coaching job. I'm not judged by people not in my profession and who have never coached in their life or much less even played the freaking game of football. What would be your next move as a head coach at north texas. Pleae give us some examples. Maybe bring in a proven OC, done that, maybe bring in a proven college DC, done that, how about staff all position coaches with proven college experience, done that, or maybe find a field goal kicker to help with kicking, done that....Again I'm repeating all my points and getting nothing in return except the same ole, look at his record. I agree the record sucks but again, changes have been made each year to improve. Let him go, he will be fine, North Texas on the other hand will still be riding the same roller coaster.... P.S. - you gotta like and agree with the changes made over the last three years right? if not why?
  10. 32 years of coaches packing up and leaving without winning records. One more year must really seem like an eternity to some haters. i have a clear understanding who I'm debating with. Time to move on....
  11. 1978 - Hayden Fry Last coach to coach at North Texas with a North Texas winning record better than his losing record. Every coach North Texas has had since Fry in 1978 has left the school with a losing record. Every single coach brought to North Texas has left with a losing record. Get over the hump people stick with one man who knows football, who knows how and accepts how to make changes, who can stand up against adversity without pointing fingers, who can actually lead, who can win and will win, who, if let go, WILL move on and do great things somewhere else while the proven track record of North Texas will continue. Sometimes you gotta make a stand and fight through. If all of the naysayers can not see the difference in this team and program today compared to three years ago I say again, Dodge haters. Not one coach since 1978 has left North Texas with a winning record.
  12. I rolled it out last year because I believed in the team and coaching, I rolled it out this year because this team would have kicked butt if not for injuries. I can still stand by win and end of argument or lose and end of argument, not a problem here. Just remember, UNT has a longer history of losing and not keeping a good coach than Coach Dodge has of not being successful. It is simply my opinion that UNT has a coach who could be a long term solution to stability and winning if everyone could just hang on.
  13. Special Teams - today we have better starting field position each game than we did three years ago. Punter - I'm told is currently #4 in nation Kicker - Nationally ranked kicker knows how to kick off of turf now so much much improved today and better than three years ago. Kick off coverage - teams are not having starting field position as they did three years ago. Punt coverage - read note above - #4 ranked punter, less punt return yardage as three years ago. Have I missed something about special teams that is not better now than three years ago. Again, changes have been made throughout the three years to set this program in the right direction. Injuries and injuries alone are the only thing keeping this team down right now. Say what you want, but it is turned around.
  14. I told you the reasons, proven college OC, proven college DC, etc... did you not read it or did you not agree with it? Heck Coach Dodge to me is also a proven OC, so throw that in there too as a reason.
  15. So how does he correct the special teams problems he goes out and recruits a highly nationally ranked kicker/punter to take care of the kicking. problem is it took all year for the kid to learn to kick off the ground. Look at the last game and you can see where the special team problem has taken care of itself. #4 punter in the nation I'm told also. Funny how many of the starters who are hurt also played on the special teams and they are not on the field now..... I say special team play is better today, I mean today not two weeks ago but today.....
  16. Let me help you with the next couple of weeks. Middle Tenn and Troy would have been tough with all starters, so how do you really think we will fair against them now? If we win this Saturday it would be one of the all time greatest wins at UNT due to injuries. Kansas St. even if healthy would have been real tough to hang with them. Once again I will break it down, Dodge has made all the changes asked of him and other changes not asked of him to turn this program around. You have all the reason to believe he can win games at this level I mean heck look at what he brings to the table. Proven college OC, proven college DC, proven college position coaches, Experienced Head Coach, proven recruiting record, can stand up to adversity without making an as* of himself, not many coaches could handle the things he has gone through without trying to throw blame everywhere else. Measure success by wins and wins only and this university will continue to struggle. This man can win, this man has won at every level except head coaching at UNT. Not many have had a success story of winning at UNT so ride the storm and let him finish what he started. Better than that let RV and TD finish what they envisioned three years ago.
  17. I know exactly which play or set of plays you are talking about and believe me there was no wrong in the coaching during that situation. Again, we had the ball on the 29 yard line and had a play set up to win the game on and a penalty cost us a shot at it. The right call was made but the play never came about due to penalty. I will hopefully get a chance to talk to RV and let him hear my opinion. Everyone wants a change because of the new stadium, fresh start you call it, I say grow a set and hang with the man who has stood tall through all this adversity and you grow a program with a leader and strong foundation. The wins will come the rest is here now.
  18. Answer one question: What has the man not done over the last 3 - 4 years to make this program better? Please show your football intelligance and come up with something other than win football games as your answer. Winning was coming until they slipped down to #4 QB, #3 center, etc.... I can say this team would have won with confidence simply because of how they are hanging with each team they are playing. This is how I measure where the program is NOW and not where or why it was 2 - 3 years ago. Bring in Leach next year and he wins and you give him all the credit. STUPID! freaking stupid. I'm done with this, I just felt I needed to blow off some steam. Coach Dodge and staff is right for this school.
  19. I am looking at the record over the last 3 - 4 years and I too see a losing record. I also see a Head Coach who made changes along the way, brought in college coaches, gave up his OC duties, brought in JC players, a coach who has done everything to correct the wrong over the last 3 - years is what I ALSO SEE. I also see a man who is exactly what this university needs heading into a new stadium. One who still can recruit some of the best available Texas talent out there, one who believes in his players, one who teaches them more than football. What I see is people giving up on someone just because they had a terrible win record over the past 3 years and they don't SEE all the changes and moves made to correct the problems. The moves and changes have been made, this team would have proven it if the injuries had not happened. Again, everything anyone can think oh this coaching staff has corrected.
  20. The point I'm trying to make is, sure Coach Dodge made some mistakes along the way, BUT, the way he has handled and adapted to correcting these mistakes speaks volumes of his character, his coaching abilities and his freaking leadership towards our players. The man is exactly what this college needs to go forward. Again, get past the past and look at where he is NOOOOOOOWWW. Look at what he had prepared entering this season. Get over the wins not coming fast enough and look at the long haul. So what if it took 4 years to get here, it's here, he fielded a winner, he has a college experienced coaching staff, he gave up his OC duties and hired a college experienced OC. I don't think he agreed all this needed to be done, but he did it anyway. He has dipped into the JC ranks to get players, he has done many of the right things to turn the program around and IT IS TURNED AROUND other than 7 freaking wins. If the team stays healthy, wins 7, goes to a bowl everyone thinks the corner has been turned, but since the wins are not there, "injuries", everyone thinks he failed. EVERYONE who thinks this program is not better now compared to four years ago has lost connection to what this program should be built on. If I was doing all this over again and I knew ahead of time my kid was fixing to attend a program which would lose as much as it has over the last four years I'd still encourage my kid to attend simply because of what I knew he would learn from Coach Dodge and Coach Gandy. Experience is what Coach Dodge has gained over the last four years he already knew how to coach. Let the past go and look at the program right now and stay focused on the plan set four years ago.
  21. I was going to wait until there was a, "without a doubt", chance of North Texas winning the conference to write this but thought, what the heck, write it now. This team without a doubt would be sitting undefeated in conference play right now and probably would have beaten Rice and Army if not for the freaking injuries. With that being said all those who think Dodge has not turned this program around are simply just Dodge haters and will always be Dodge haters. The man has turned the program around. The football program is leaps and bounds ahead of where it was four years ago. Injuries have cost this team a chance of proving all naysayers wrong. Look at the bandaid team which plays each week. Not one player has given up on their coach or school. If the players played like they wanted the coach gone you wouldn't see the attitude and effort on the field you are seeing right now. You can look at it as WIN 7 or else if you chose but to me the program has arrived. The deck is stacked against North Texas winning those 7 games this year but it's not because this team was not prepared. Coach Dodge and his staff are the right combination for the future of this football program. The AD is put in a hard spot but hopefully it is one he can figure out by looking at the program itself and not the wins. The wins were there this year but so were the injuries! Name one team in the nation who could have survived this. Heck, University of Texas loses one QB and a few defensive guys and now they struggle. No I'm not comparing us to them.....just saying.....
  22. +4 = 32 I like the number 32!!! Plan on making em all this year. Last go round!
