Goddammit, NO. This whole thread is asinine.
Patterson was let go from TCU not only for the on- and off-field issues but because he let the game pass him by and he's resentful of such – loud and publicly so. He couldn't evolve. He tried and failed to maintain the "rule-by-tyranny" kind of head coaching and that doesn't work in this long overdue era of player-empowerment. His decades of success are more than valid, but he actively shot himself in the foot over and again across the last few years. No, thank you.
I want we – UNT and the royal we – to stop chasing the past glory of other institutions. I want UNT to actively, creatively, and strategically create its own glory; set for what the game is now and adaptive to what's to come. You lost me totally with the first word of your argument. Is that really necessary?

From what I saw last night, SMU could not only win more than 5 games but could end the year in the top 25. They are loaded with play makers. Their ends were beating us all over the field, their line was pass blocking and their quarterback could end up being drafted if he continues to throw like he did.
I saw nothing from UNT except hard running. The passing was pathetic. We were terrible when we got into the red zone. Our deep defenders look bad.
I do not believe we saw enough of Gunnel to give a grade, good or bad. As soon as he overthrew his first pass some of us were saying, “Well, he sucks too”. It is too early for us to tell.
Those are my feelings. Let the beatings begin.

It appeared to me that the right side of their offensive line was already moving about a half a count ahead of the ball being snapped. I was surprised that it was never called.

Put me down for 8-5 including a bowl win. The defense is going to surprise a lot of folks and the passing game is going to emerge again.

I would be willing to donate to a “pool” for NIL.

He states in the “tweet” that he is planning on coming back. IMO It is either a family issue or grades.

….known as the attic of my house I found this gem from the Helwig era.
Spawned from the final straw witnessing our men’s basketball team come out in puke-looking shiny blue satin warm ups.
I know @greenjoe will remember.

I’ve said it before, but I will say it again. Why is it necessary to denigrate, run down or doubt the ability of incoming players before we ever see them on the field?

Wrong. MVSU's last year of D2 ball was in 1979. Rice played there from 1981-1984
That still doesn’t change the fact that 18 D2 players were chosen this year.

It is a higher level. There have been pro chosen every year from DII ranks. Jerry rice was a product of DII ball.

Because 1. ONE. single draft pick is something to brag about? Sure. You can't argue that its still a pretty low bar
We had the same number of players drafted this year as The University of Texas. 😊

OU is putting a plan in place to pay each player a minimum of $40K a year
Does that mean some of their players will be taking a cut in pay?

Think he will be a Jr eligibility wise.
Started his college at Memphis and transferred to TSU. I believe his father is Coach Joe McBride, a very respected area coach.

Since you dragged SMU into it, let's look at other numbers. UNT's arena holds almost 10,000, so it was half full. Enrollment at SMU is less than 7,000, enrollment at UNT is 42,000. I would guarantee, that the number of DFW-UNT Alums dwarfs SMU. So in reality, UNT is massively underachieving with attendance.
But aren’t you guys “Dallas” team?

It is very difficult to beat a good team, La. Tech, three times in a season. This is going to be a very tough game.

Murphy Brothers Update
in Mean Green Football

Is there a chance that part of the Murphy brothers success could be attributed to the constant double teaming of Dion Novil? Yes, they were successful but Dion Novil was an important factor too.
