LSU fans knocking the NIT....such cry babies!

I can guarantee you there are a few lurking posters that are biting their lip, that would (and possibly will) chime in with how we should be above this NIT stuff.

Guts, don't get your panties in a bunch but I would like your opinion on FT.Worth as the continuing location of the AAC tournament in March. [Disclaimer: at 81 I don't drive to night game games]. Looking at the very sparse attendance in a very nice 14,000 seat venue [ I have been to daytime basketball games there] during the cold weather in March is Dickies a good choice? I would think attendance might increase if our tournament was played in warmer climate and in a smaller venue. Just asking.

I personally love it at Dickies because it is 20 minutes away from me.  IMO it is also a fantastic venue for what we're trying to do*

But if attendance is a priority, they have to consider something more central to the entirety of the league.

*Billboard Mag end-of 2023 rankings has Dickies as the best venue in the world for for seating 10,001-15,000 capacity.

I think most assumed they were gonna get blown out the last three games!

a 5 win Temple uppends FAU in the postseason.  I have no words.

It's gonna be infuriating if they win the conference tournament and are stuck with a terrible seed.  FAU needs to come back or UAB needs to beat them tomorrow.

Layne Taylor will be the best pure point guard/play maker on the team. He's also a very good shooter. My only question is does he have the quickness necessary at the next level. Seemed to struggle against bigger and faster guys. Defense is adequate. Certainly a rotation guy from day 1.

I was pondering this last night, if Taylor would be a great compliment to RJ and Scott (assuming RJ comes back, which I don't know).

    Appreciate any insight on Taylor.

Edwards is clearly a very good basketball player and dynamic scorer, but if we’re building next season’s roster around him as the clear #1 I think we’re still a middle-of-the-pack AAC team.

if instead he is our sixth man (as I think was always Hodge’s intention) and our second-third leading scorer I think were in a title hunt (assuming some roster continuity)

give me JE averaging 12-15pts on around 10 shots a night than 20ppg on 15-20 (or 22 like last night)

This makes a ton of sense to me.

We know that Dusty will work those refs and slow this game down with continuous parades to the line.

Am I remembering wrong, didn't FAU win some games last year by playing fast?

I think that has been one of their strengths the last two years: they are as good as anyone at playing a variety of tempos.  In fact, I think they'd prefer it fast.

EDIT: after another look, I think you are talking less about overall tempo, and just playing to the refs.  Which ain't wrong.

If everyone who is eligible to stay stays, and Ross can find a serviceable guy with size (doesn’t have to be a 5, just big enough to challenge at the rim and grab boards) we will make serious noise next year…I’m calling it now.

I'd like to find a recruit that can level this up big time, not just fill in the gap and/or be serviceable.

    (I'm being greedy here)

The difference was FAU has a player who comes up biggest in “go time.”

Did you notice that, in all three games, it was tight without about 3 minutes to go and they put the ball in Davis’ hands.  From there he either got to the bucket (with or without an extra step or push off) and scored or he made the smart pass out of the double team.

Who was that guy for us?

We have an All-AAC 1st teamer that decides with < 10 seconds left, when we are down 6+, that he wants to drive for layups.

    So there's that. 😢

  9. I thought for sure, slugging it out night after night with FAU, we could get at least one to swing in our favor.  But they kept coming out on top.

Frustrating to never get over that hump.  Not once in two seasons/5 tries.

I think Dusty is a top name at Ohio State Louisville, right? He'll be gone, Davis will leave with him (maybe go somewhere else, though), and I won't miss them.
