We won't know for acouple of years, but this might be one of JJ's best classes. Seems good on paper after the slow start.

(FWIW, many are very glad we didn't use a similar philosophy that would here in the year 2007 still have us playing men and women's varsity basketball in the Men's Gym).
Except we routinely had overflow crowds of over 4K in the Snake Pit for Men's Games. It's almost unbelieveable to think we had that sort of following now when we average about 2K in a far nicer facility, but we did.

I don't disagree with you e-bone, but the Belt as a whole hasn't gotten an at large selection in about a decade I believe(feel free to check, I'm not sure). Unless a non power conference school has some wins over the Big Boys(and when I say Big Boys, I mean top 25 Big Boys, not just average Power league schools), they're more than likely not gonna get an at large selection. There is of course the chance the league suddenly jumps up the rankings, and we can get two bids like the CAA or something.
Other than that it's pretty much win the conference tournament 20 wins or not.

It would be nice to see 20+ D1 wins and a regular season title, as well.
We did have 20 D1 wins.

The potential is there to win 20 games, the regular season title, and the postseason tourney title. But I'm not gonna predict jack in April.

Has anyone heard anything about Herb Larkins since that friend of his posted those pictures acouple of years ago after he came on asking for money? Just curious.

all I'm saying is wait until the whole recruiting process is done until you pass judgement.. its hard to say how this recruiting class is going to shape up this early.. coming from someone who claims to have extensive knowledge on the mean green basketball team, I figured you would know that many of J.J.'s key recruits signed well past the original signing day including Calvin Watson who didn't sign with UNT until July, Collin Mangrum wasn't signed until late May, Rich Young signed in late April, Ben Bell wasn't signed until late April, and even your old boy Roderick Flemmings didn't sign until early May.. See all i'm saying is that the recruiting process is on going, and I know you like to jump on J.J. anytime you see a chance but wait this out and when its done then we can decide to fire J.J. or not

If I remember correctly, meangreenqueen was President in '02 or thereabouts.
Yeah, Erin was President for at least acouple of semesters. She was kind of the last vestige of the Late 90's Talon Group that was so close.

Vito seemed to imply the staff was high on Mangrum a few weeks ago. But that analysis seems to indicate otherwise. Well argued Censored By Laurie.
I've been wanting a big guy signed this whole time period. Next season we're fine, but the year after things look grim.

Well, we also need to worry about Akron. Not to mention Houston was mentioned in the past(unless they're out of contention now?). It's not a slam dunk we get the kid even if Wichita State doesn't.

Congratulations Michael! It's a tough job, and no matter what you accomplish, you'll always feel like you could've done more. Every President I know felt that way. Hopefully you have a kick ass VP(who you get along with), who can get on the ball with the Committes to help ya out. I'm sure you'll do a great job. Proud to be a Talon.

This is awesome! Harkens back to the past...love to hear "We're the Mean Green of UNT" in the last line. There's tradition right there!
I think the original was "We are the students of NTSC", but I honestly can't remember. Like I said Latham found it, and we(Talons) all thought it was pretty cool at the time. The Yucca even had pics of the Yell Leaders in mid cheer urging on the crowd. It was definitely cool.
Not sure if they handed the cheer down once our crew all left around 5 years ago, but I hope they did.

NT giving out a free throw award is like McDonald's presenting a healthy eating award. Something just doesn't add up. Well, he did shoot something like 80% from the line. He was basically our only really good FT shooter(not counting some of the guys who didn't get much PT and had few attempts).

I hear ya. I'd take the NIT too, though we'd probably get something like a 7 seed like USA did. If we could garner a top 4 seed we'd get a 1st round home game. Now that would be something else.
